Rose’s Flower Shop

I feel compelled to write this Unilocal review because there weren’t any posted and its important to understand how they are doing business over there. Despite zero reviews, I selected this florist because they were the closest to the delivery address (literally across the street). When I spoke to them before noon, I explained to the woman that I don’t live in NY but I need the flowers to arrive prior to 10pm that day as it was timed to a specific event and the building would be locked up by 10pm. They said no problem. The next day, I get a call from the recipient thanking me for the flowers. Problem was, the flowers arrived A DAY TOO LATE. That is exactly what I didn’t want. So I called them back and a man answered so I explained the predicament and he said that was odd but needed to call me back with answers. So I waited 4 hours and did not get a call back. So I called them again. This time a woman answered so I asked if I could please hold for the gentleman I spoke to earlier and she wouldn’t let me. So I explained the predicament again and she put me on hold for about 5 minutes and then picked up and hung up on me. She called me back and said that the delivery guy did go over to the building across the street but no one would sign for the flowers. At first, I understood, but then I called back and again, could not get the same woman on the line and had to explain my predicament… again.
Here’s my problem, if I begged them to deliver the flowers by a certain time, but no one would sign for them, why wouldn’t they call the purchaser back and explain the dilemma? I could have easily called someone in the building and had them come down, sign for it, and get it there in time, but alas, no one called me. So instead, the flowers arrived a day after the fact and now they had the nerve to yell at me as if it was my fault that no one would sign for it.
In the end, they agreed to refund me the delivery charge (but only after we literally had a screaming match with each other) and they were quick to point out AGAIN that it isn’t their fault since they did attempt delivery. I agree, they did, but they failed in customer service. If UPS needs a signature, they alert the customer by leaving a note on the door. No one alerted this customer that no one would sign for the delivery — a problem that could have been avoided by making that one phone call to me.
Epic fail. If I could give this place zero stars for customer service, I would. But since the recipient actually liked the flowers regardless of the timing, the one star stands.
