I love steaks, especially Argentinian steaks. So maybe I expected too much. This place is solid, but maybe I wanted more??? You won’t go wrong, but not sure it will become a favorite.

As an Argentinean myself you probably need nothing else but my review. Great ambiance, excellent food and service. The beef comes from Uruguay as so does all of the organic vegetables they serve. You can tell by how flavorful all of it is . If you want to experience the well known and famous Argentine beef this is the place. I came with my wife and 2 of my children Saturday the 30th of Jan 2016 . By the way the Apple caramel pancake dessert … no words can suffice !! delicious !! PD: the décor is superb tasteful with white linens, the typical Argentinean tradition, Thank you guys !! Alex Dussaut, Shorewood Minnesota

We had an amazing dinner at Chimichurri Grill tonight. It’s a charming and cozy place in the middle of a very chaotic area of town(Penn Station/Time Square). Everything was delicious and the service was perfect. Highly suggest the beef carpaccio, Argentine pork sausage, the vacio a la gaucho and the churrasco, which was sublime. Also, tonight’s side special, Hen of Wood mushrooms, was sooo good! Oh, and the chimichurri sauces were great!

I am a big lover of Argentine and Brazilian food. I had a go to spot in Midtown named«Sosa Borella» but this past fall the place closed somewhat abruptly, at least in my mind. I was looking for another go to spot and decided to give Chimichurri Grill a try for lunch. I was in a bit of a rush as I had a meeting at the UN I was heading to but as I sat down to eat, the waiter told me — «I hope you are not in a rush». At that moment I knew I would be late. I started with an ice cold Quilmes– one of my favorite beers, A refreshing pale lager, Quilmes is basically the national beer of Argentina and it can be found in NYC, most often at Whole Foods. This was followed by a house salad with a homemade vinaigrette dressing. The salad was excellent. The greens were fresh and the dressing was mixed in to the correct measure. There was a good mix of dressing to the taste of the greens and the salad was not«swimming» in the oil. The lunch sized portion of the famous Argentine«Lomo» with frites arrived next on a wooden plank. The steak was a generous portion of tender grass fed beef and it was a perfect medium(pink center). To be honest I have never, ever had a problem with steaks at Argentine grill restaurants. The cook staff, while not always Argentine, have excellent skill on the grill. The frites were also cut from potatoes and not some frozen refried mess. They were fried in a light oil and had a nice coating of garlic and oregano. The food was filling and overall the meal was great. I was the only customer in the place so I basically had the restaurant to myself. The waiter, Ruben, is the NYC director of the River Plate Fan Club so we had a great time talking soccer and Argentina. My next visit will be most likely for my birthday in March, this time for dinner. If that visit goes as well as this time I know I have scored a goal.

You can’t judge a book by its cover. Chimichurri is located in a non-descript storefront location. Once you walk inside it seems so different. Very engaging staff, nice decorations, tables, and small bar(that’s good to eat at also). We’ve been coming here for years and never had a bad meal. We’ve had the empanadas(excellent), different appetizers(excellent also), ravioli, steaks(filet mignon is my favorite), and the wine list is great! This place is definitely a go to when looking for a good steak or other Argentinean favorites.

The entire meal and experience was amazing(all on a whim) while visiting New York City(native New Yorker; moved away and this restaurant reminds me why I must move back! The stand out feature was the chorizo trio. I could eat that morning, noon and night without a hint of guilt! The blood sausage especially amazing. If an upstairs apartment opens up; Please let me know! I highly recommend NOT passing on the deserts. This is an especially delightful repute on lazy Sundays.

Well… the menu is nice… lots of options… but the food, at least what i had, was average. I ordered chicken empinadas to start. They were ok, a little on the dry side. I also ordered the filet mignon which was cooked like i asked and was nice and tender. The two major setbacks are: 1) Service is a little slow. I had to call the waiter to ask foe a refill of my drink long after it was empty. 2) 1985 called and wants its policy back… no free refill on my iced tea? At $ 4.50 a glass… about 4 oz of tea… you charge for a refill? C’mon…

Simple sustainably-sourced food + skilled chef make for some delicious Latin American eats. Attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable servers make the experience even better. The décor is understated, but elegant, and you can tell the place is clean! I particularly enjoyed the branded silverware. My favorite thing might have been the scoop of dulce de leche on the side of my espresso. But, the butternut squash soup was delicious!

We found this jem walking down the street looking for lunch; we darted across the street and discovered Chimichurri Grill. For lunch they offer a prix fixe lunch menu which was a nice find. I had soup and the Ensalada de Pollo — full of flavor and a perfect lunch. There is something for everyone on the menu. To top it off, my picky sister enjoyed the sliders… and she loved the beef empanada(this is saying a lot for a girl who puts ketchup on everything)! They have a great wine selection!!! Owners are amazing with great hospitality and big hearts! Chimichurri Grill has made my list for«next time I return to NYC».

The place was smaller than I expected but it was packed with customers which was a good sign, we got the last table for 2 at this restaurant, the service was very fast and efficient. We got the 3 sausage platter which came with a chorizo, pork sausage and blood sausage, they were delicious! Specially with the Chimichurri and smokey spicy sauce. We also got the shrimp ceviche for appetizer which was very nice. For main I got a 10oz steak with mushroom and chimichurri sauce, meat and mushrooms were was cooked to perfection and very tasty with the sauce

Absolutely love this place, which is a rare culinary bright spot in an otherwise dismal area. The atmosphere is quiet and intimate with a nice view of the street, though we did eat fairly early so can’t speak for later in the evening. As other reviewers have mentioned, the beef is outstanding. I had the 18oz ribeye, which was intense and a LOT of meat. Their fries are also the best I’ve had in Manhattan and apparently award winning for good reason. Also, get the mate espresso with dolce de leche for desert. It was the perfect end to an intensely satisfying meat. A+

It was Sunday, 5PM we obviously beat the theatre crowd. The restaurant wasn’t at all crowded. A marble bar to the left. A smallish intimate setting. Very clean. Linen table cloths and napkins. Waiters were very attentive. The grilled octopus was very tasty. We cleaned the plate with their warmed bread soaked in its delicious sauce. The parillada included healthy portions of filet mignon, short ribs, hanger steak, Spanish sausage and blood sausage(we opted for argentine sausage instead of the blood sausage). The filet was a standout and I would return for that by itself. The garlic mash potatoes, green salad and an excellent Argentine Cabernet(Rotini?) were all great complements to the meal. Before we knew it, 90 minutes had passed and we absolutely had no room for dessert. Maybe next time ;)

Meeeeh… We tried an Argentine restaurant in Barcelona, Spain that was to die for and we were hoping for the same experience here. We were the second table to arrive, ambiance was nice, great music. The waiter and host/bartender(?) were nice as well, nothing to complain about on their part. We only ordered entrées, didn’t feel like starters… Our order took a while, maybe 30 mins to come out. While we waited they gave us each a roll of bread with some olive oil. Nothing special there. We sipped on our wine while we waited, which I loved. I ordered the filet mignon w/blue vein cheese sauce and a side of the creamed Swiss chard. I asked for medium and received medium well, which didn’t destroy my meal but meeeh. The Swiss chard was pretty good, love the creaminess. He ordered the 10 oz rib eye with rosemary roasted potatoes, he says they were«okay.» We also tried the chimichurri sauce that they bring out, and I feel like there was something missing. Our night came out to about $ 150 for two entrees and a bottle of wine. Don’t really think it was worth it. I’m considering giving them another chance… We’ll see…

It was about a year ago when I came here with a friend for lunch. We literally had the whole place to ourselves because no one was in there dining. I guess that should of been a warning? The food is not bad, but its nothing to rave about. I remember ordering the skirt steak with the chimichurri sauce. The food was okay at best and the lunch deal is pretty good for the price. I think one issue we had was for a restaurant that was just us, the food was fairly slow lol

I was here for lunch with a client and almost spent about 2 hours here waiting for food. Most places around the area where I have gone during lunch hour have had reasonable service, but this place was just very very slow, even though there was only one other table besides us. The food was good and the waiter was nice and attentive. The Empanadas were satisfying & the fish of the day, Grilled Branzino was soft, delicate, and very juicy. All the non-vegetarian items on the menu are grass-fed and free-range. The only lunch menu they had was a pre-fix menu for $ 28 with an option to pick an appetizer and a main course. Recommendation: Grilled Branzino

Nice intimate cozy restaurant ideal for a date night. The drinks are creative and refreshing. I suggest the martini with your choice of grapefruit, passion fruit, or orange sorbet. The food was also very good.

Fantastic little restaurant with a calm ambience. The restaurant has a wide selection of wine to pair with your meal. The Asado– 9⁄10. Some of the best Argentinian BBQ I’ve had. The perfect mix between chewy and tender. The Burnt Cauliflower– 10⁄10. An excellent side. It was lightly salted and burnt giving it a great complimenting taste. A down side was our server was very curt and seemed to hurry us through the meal as if he had something more important to do.

3.5 stars. My first Argentine meal post Argentina. I think I placed super high hopes in the food because I haven’t had a good steak in such a long time. I looked for a good restaurant in the theater district for lunch right before catching a show with my mom. I found this restaurant awesome because it has a $ 28 prix fixe lunch deal(essentially only weekends because thats when they are open for lunch). I made a reservation to be safe, but I realized that, like what other Unilocalers have been saying, its essentially empty here during lunch. My mom and I were seated immediately because there was no one(haha). I told the waiter that we had a show at 2pm(we showed up at 12:40pm), and the owner said«you have more than enough time» to eat before the show(I was just worried because I still had to pick up the tickets from the box office). Since I was still recovering from pharyngitis, I had the soup of the day– kale and bean soup with chorizo. It was hot, and hit the spot, but wasn’t exactly flavorful. My mom loved her chicken empanada(tasted really fresh and great chicken cuts), but the beef inside the beef empanada tasted as if it just came out of the deep fryer as it was oozing with oil. The two of us ordered a churrasco argentino. What I failed to realize from looking at the menu was how its served with mixed greens, which is awesome because the filet is quite salty. We both asked for medium well, and it was cooked very well to order. However, mine came out with a layer of oil on the top– the chimichurri sauce was sort of graso-planing/lipoplaning on top of the oil. Other than the saltiness, it was a good steak. Don’t get fooled by the 6oz– it was a rather large steak and hard to finish! The mixed greens were a great contrast to the steak, and had a sweet vinaigrette– that could have been a major reason for the steak to seem saltier than it truly was. Service was great, we got out in time for picking up our tickets. The bathroom is super clean. Nice décor. It is a prime location.

A group of 4 guys on a Monday evening. Very small interior, probably seats about 30 people(including the small bar area). it’s pretty pricey for a small place with imperfect tables(the fold kept falling). For what you pay, you’d think it’d be a little fancier. Service was solid. Food was quite good — we ordered lots of sides and a steak entrée each(most of us went for the flank). The chimichurri was cream-based instead of traditional oil. That was disappointing, though it tasted ok. Their spicy variation also is not classic Argentinan steakhouse fare, but it was still good. Desserts were fine but nothing particularly stood out. TL: DR don’t expect the traditional Argentinian steakhouse experience, but this is still a good place for a nice meal.

Background: Reserved for 730pm on a Monday night and came with an Argentinian friend. Food: Delicious! Appetizer: We got empanadas caseras(one chicken, one Swiss chard & manchego cheese). Right from when it was brought out, the scent of fresh dough filled the air. The dough was baked to perfection and had a slightly sweet taste that nicely complemented the savory fillings. My friend said they were some of the best empanadas he’s ever had, which says a lot! Entrée: We split the Churrasco entrée(thin piece of filet mignon with chimichurri sauce and salad), and the Canelones Buenos Aires(crepes with chicken, peppers, and mushrooms in béchamel sauce, almost like enchiladas). The steak was so tender, juicy, and flavorful, I was wishing for a larger cut of meat! The canelones were very good as well, a nice balance of chicken, dough and creamy sauce. Finally, the chimichurri sauce was a great addition to the meal — a bit creamy, a lot garlicky, yet not too overpowering. Atmosphere: It’s a fairly small place, but there aren’t many tables and they’re spaced out nicely — not crowded or loud. Lighting was dim enough for a nice ambiance but not dark. A nice, classy feel. Service: Quick and attentive. Our waiter also patiently answered our questions about the chimichurri sauce. Overall: Really good food, I was impressed(and am now a big fan of Argentinian food!). Not too cheap, but definitely worth it. I’ll be back soon.
