This restaurant has a special place in our hearts. It is the place where we arranged our reception after our wedding and we have so many memories with this place that I never thought about writing a review about. However we came back a couple of days ago with Italian friends visitors, and it reminded me that they really deserve to be recognized. Since our last visit the place has been refurbished and it even enhances the experience. the beautiful private room(the one we used) has been also lovely redone and still have the same charm than 5 years ago. But what makes the place so great is the fact that the food is just delicious. I will not even try to misspell All the great appetizers they offer. I love all the dips(my personally favorite is the eggplant), the skewers are great and grilled to perfection. Even the rice tastes special. It is cozy nothing crazy but just fine and the pricing makes it only to a real bargain. Our Italian friends from Milan declared the place as one of the most exciting restaurant they have seen in NYC. And even my Parisian parents said that it was pretty good(means in french Parisian language amazing!) Was this review???

This place seems to have had a very recent renovation. So recent, that they didn’t have a sign up and it’s hard to find. You may miss it. The place is big and the food is good. Their baba ganoush is fantastic and their kebabs are very tasty. The Borg kebab is very tasty and the Koobideh is great too, but not the best I’ve had. The homemade doogh is way too thick. The bread is not hot or freshly baked. My guess is they just reheat it. Odd combination kebab selections with the lack of lamb + X is surprising. The Persian ice cream is great and the portion is incredible. The service is Good but definitely not friendly. Definitely worth visiting.

This is a nice place. I went for lunch on a Saturday and it was empty, but it was because there was no sign at the entrance, they just had a renovation. Later, at least 3 more tables got occupied. Anyway, We wanted to try this place because it has good ratings. Plus We love Persian food. The place looks very neat, and they play good music. My fav thing from what I ordered was the baba ganesh! Very tasty I also ordered a stew and my boyfriend ordered a kebab. Those were ok, good but it could be better for the price. We also ordered doogh and it was very concentrated, so it was a good sign but I guess I’m used to a lighter version so for me I would have prefer it more liquid. I was hesitant to order dessert but we did at the end(persian ice cream) which was really yumi!

This was my first time trying Persian food so I’m unable to comment on authenticity, but I came for dinner with a Persian friend late on a Tuesday night and it’s his absolute favorite Persian place in the city. Even on a Tuesday night every table was taken, so the feeling must be echoed by others in the area. I appreciated that they brought out warm bread with a duo of dipping sauces(yogurt and a green cilantro sauce) right away. The waitress gave us plenty of time to look at the menu. We ultimately decided on two dishes-the jujej kebob(pieces of bone-in Cornish hen) and the salmon kebob. The jujej kebob was so moist and tasted like it had been marinating for hours-it was absolutely delicious. The salmon kebob was equally flavorful. We ordered one dish with the white rice and another subbing in the side of vegetables. I preferred the vegetables, but it was nice to have the rice as well. For dessert, we got the Persian donuts. Having never tasted them before and being acctomed the the American style of donuts, the flavor was unexpected. Soaked in rose water and safron, they were incredibly sweet and cold. Eight small donut holes surrounded a funnel cake-like pastry that was very, very sugary as well. It was tasty, but I’m not sure I would order it again. I noticed the restaurant had a upstairs dining area as well, however it was dark and no one was seated there at the time. It would be ideal for a larger party or an event, and this seems like the kind of restaurant that would do well with large groups of people.

Yum! Came here for lunch and got the steak kbobs. Meat was tender and juicy. I LOVED the green sauce they gave with the bread. It had a good kick to it, and I added it to the top of my steak. Vegetables seemed fresh as well. Was not a fan of the lentil soup, I prefer more lemon but still worth trying. Definitely would recommend.

Ordered in. One lamb kabob. One chicken kabob, but with that special rice with berries(for $ 3 extra per dish). It came with a small plain salad and Persian bread. Nice sized portion with grilled tomato and onion. Disappointed in the dried out lamb and the dried chicken. Also there was little or no char. The rice was good, but not my style. The bread was tasteless. Well, we gave it a try.

Had lunch here the other day, and it was wonderful. The food was great — different flavors from what I am used to, but absolutely delicious. The space is light and very pleasant, and the staff were very nice. Loved the Turkish coffee to finish it off. Just wish I could have tried the desserts(but I was too full from the main course).

I love the chicken koobideh here. It’s amazing with rice and grilled veggies. Just got my food delivered. Huge portion and always well presented :) One of my favourite Persian spots to order from.

We were first lost because we couldn’t find the sign for the restaurant but once we found it, the place was open and buzzing with a lovely atmosphere. We went on a Friday night so the place was packed and tables were a little too close to each other but the food was totally worth it. We started with a light appetizer and shared a plate of lamb chop kebab for our main entrée. The lamb chop was juicy and perfect with the rice so would recommend it. I will definitely go again to try more dishes.

Stellar and consistent Persian food. The Combination Kebab is an amazing deal, and all of the rice dishes(especially the albaloo and zereshk polo) are strong. I have been lucky enough to have a tremendous amount of home cooked Persian food and this place comes as close to that experience as I have been able to find in a restaurant.

Very authentic Persian food. The bread was crispy outside, soft inside, the dipping sauces were fresh made and yummy, the kabob were juicy and delicious. The soup Ash was the best Ash I’ve ever had. Customer services was great. Our server was very kind and quick on ordering and delivery. Food 5 stars Services 5 stars Ambience 5 stars Clean 5 starts

I absolutely love the food here, especially the combination kabob platter. The joojeh kabob with bone reminds me of good kabobs I used to have in Iran’s top notch restaurants during the Shah days! As a Persian from California I’ve been around plenty of fabulous restaurants in Cali, however Ravagh’s quality is way better. I’m a picky eater and won’t settle for any Persian restaurant. I am so happy I have found this place since I moved here from California :)

mediocre persian food, but unfortunately Manhattan has little else to offer in the way of persian food until a newcomer establishes themselves. Until then, I suppose I’ll begrudgingly come back.

2⁄19 closed due to a fire, call first. I think they have great lunch deals. Get the grilled veggies instead of the rice.

Ravagh has been in my radar as of late and I finally had the opportunity to order delivery for lunch today. With many people telling me great things, my expectations were up there and I’m glad to say that Ravagh did not disappoint. I’m a big fan of stews and Middle Eastern cuisine, however, this was my first Persian experience. I ordered the Khoresh Bademjan(lamb stew) with green rice(dilled rice with fava beans) and the food was both flavorful and tender! I’m a lover of all things saucey and boy was this stew saucey! It arrived nicely packed and secured with plastic wrap to ensure no spills or leaks, which also helped contain the heat. It was as if I were dining at the restaurant with the food served fresh out of the kitchen and hot! Alongside the stew & rice were a side salad and a pita bread to accompany the meal. There was a nice mix of tender lamb chunks, roasted eggplant and plump tomatoes. The portions were generous, which left me stuffed silly! If you’re a fan of Middle Eastern cuisine and are looking to try something new, I highly recommend Ravagh. Give it a go! Enjoy!

I came here with my colleagues for lunch one day. There were five of us, and the dining room downstairs was already quite full of people, so they seated us upstairs. During the time that we were there, most of the other tables upstairs filled up as well. Definitely a popular spot! We ordered our food, mostly kebobs. Pita bread and some dips were included and were brought out immediately. Both dips were very good. The lunch special came with a choice of a salad or a cup of lentil soup, and we all got the soup. It was decent, but not particularly my taste. Someone at the table commented that it was more watery and a little spicier than the kind he is used to, but everyone emptied their bowls. After finishing our soup, we did wait a decent amount of time, longer than I would have expected for lunch, for our entrees. I don’t know if this was an unexpected lunch rush, or if they were potentially short-handed. Even though it was not fast, our waitress got our orders right and was relatively attentive. Overall, the slow service was a main factor in my rating. As for the food, I ordered a chicken kebob, and it was very good. The chicken pieces were juicy and well-seasoned. Between finishing the basmati rice and eating a few of the chicken pieces, I was full. I took home the rest of the chicken and had it for dinner. Overall, we’ll probably be back, but only on our not-so-busy days at the office.

The kitchen seemed to be a bit overwhelmed for lunch albeit us calling and setting a reservation for 10(with 8 of us showing up.) Took an hour and a half for lunch, mostly from waiting for our main dishes. They seemed to want to bring out all of the dishes at once which doesn’t work much if a lot of dishes were cool. Went back with a large group. We started with Sambuseh. Reminded me of an unspicy samosa. Not that good and just a little bit cold. 2.3 The bread was worse than last time(quite cold and it felt like a worse brand) but the yogurt dipping sauce was just as good. The majority of the group(i.e. everyone else) ordered Kebabs while I ordered Gormeh Sabzi with Tahdiq instead of regular rice. My main dish was fine. There was a stewed dried lime left in there which left an unpleasant sourness when I accidentally bit down onto it but the rest of the stew was good. Tender chicken and good spinach. Good portion for the price(13.00.) However, the dish was a bit cool. 3.6. So far my main dish is around the same rating as before or a bit worse. However, then you have their Tahdiq. Tahdiq is a hardened rice found on the bottom of the pot used in a lot of Persian dishes. It tends to be slightly brown from the cooking but in this cake, a large portion of it was completely black. It’s usually quite breakable with a spoon but this time it was as hard as a rock. In other words, it was burnt and quite unappetizing. Just tasted of dry rice and oil. It was also cold. I ate a piece of it and then stopped as I felt I would get sick(I kinda did later.) 1.2 The other people had kebabs and enjoyed them outside of the person ordering the Jujeh kebab. Two people also ordered Vegetarian Kebabs, and it came out as just some grilled vegetables with some odd vegetable side dish. They didn’t like the portion size for the price and noted that it wasn’t like a kebab so the waitress, who was quite nice, allowed them to switch. By the time they got their food, the rest of us were mostly finished. They enjoyed their soups and took some hummus back. The service was nice albeit overwhelmed and overall, the food was cool and worse than last time. Something in-between a 2 and a 3. I’ll keep it as a 3 as the dinner is more important than the lunch.

#Went here on a date once. She was Persian and ordered a feast. It was great. Nothing to do with why we never talked again after that #date. Came back for the #lunch special Lamb Shank. Pretty good with the #green and white sauces. The lunch special is a pretty good deal. It came with a #salad. I think I like the #East Village location a little better. But it seems this older location is a lot more popular.

Ehh. The portions were large, but the chicken kabob was extremely dry and hard. Great service and environment nonetheless.

This location is a bit off the beaten track and you walk down into the restaurant, so I wasn’t a fan of the dungeon-y feel, however, the food was decent. I ordered the sultani which comes with a skewer of koubideh and barg, I did not like the koubideh at all and gave it to my dining companions — just didn’t like the taste of the meat, not sure if it was made from lamb or something else, but it didn’t taste right. The barg was juicy and delicious though. I do think that every Persian restaurant should serve bread and feta cheese, so I fault them for bringing bread, but nothing to eat it with. Subtracting points for that. Service was decent, there was one waitress serving the whole room. I ordered the ice cream dessert that had a cherries and almonds and it was good. I didn’t feel their menu was authentically Persian though, I’m sure non-Persians won’t notice.
