Wish I could review the food I ordered from here but since it never arrived, alas I cannot. I ordered a bunch of delicious shit from Pyramida via Grubhub. I think I got a well balanced meal of a gyro and a cappucino and some baklava if I remember correctly. Sounds delicious right? Well everything went through via grubhub, paid online with my card and got a confirmation email that everything was all set and my food would arrive in ~1 hour, the usual– I’m no stranger to grubhub ordering/laziness. ~1.5 hours passed and still nothing, so I called up Pyramida directly to check on my order. The guy on the phone was pretty brash with me and said that he had no such order. I assured him that I ordered via grubhub and got a confirmation email and paid online, he said«nope no order sorry». So I called up grubhub customer service directly(they are VERY helpful just an fyi) who told me that the restaurant themselves have to type in some confirmation number in order for the delivery order to be confirmed, which someone at Pyramida HAD in fact done– thus the guy on the phone was bluffing or somehow completely unaware. The CSR at Grubhub said he’d call them directly. I waited while he contacted them, and someone who I assume was the same guy– told him again he didn’t have my order but SOMEHOW knew what I ordered, making mention that they«don’t have cappucino or baklava available». WHAT. All in all, I cancelled my order, got my $$ back and GrubHub was kind enough to send me a voucher gift certificate. This was quite a lot of hassle for some food. Super lame. Sorry Pyramida, not into it.

This place was an semi-empty restaurant on a weekend brunch hour(unless you count the guy who was sipping his bottemless cup of joe while reading the papers) with blandish décor. I was a bit suspicious about this place, but it does have its merits. The food was pretty okay(gyro and falafel) and slightly pricey, but their lemonade is the their best seller. BEWARE, IT’S LIKE A DRUG. I never had such YUMTASTIC lemonade! I only wish they had that type of drink near my area. I would definately come here again for their lemonade. SOGOOD!

Food was indeed awesome. I rarely like a dish enough to go back for seconds, but the lamb gyro def had that effect. Now the bad: I came at 2pm on a Thursday. The bathroom had no toilet paper, no hand SOAP, and no paper towel. Made me seriously wonder how the chef was cleaning his hands. Sure enough, I had some stomach issue later that day. This was significant only because I NEVER have stomach issues(having grown up in mainland China and I eat everything). But I must admit, the food was so yummy that I’m highly tempted to give it another chance even at the risk of stomach consequences

The place was empty on a Monday evening, the subway construction in front of 2nd Avenue is killing the businesses and it’s important that you try to drop in on some of them to keep them going. Pyramida Grill is definitely worth saving. Their tzatziki sauce is yummy. I ordered the lamb gyro meat plate with salad and almond rice. The portion is good for two people. The almond rice is so tasty with a nice texture, I’ve never had anything like it. I’d like the restaurant to stick around so that I can try the other dishes.

An expiring Google Offer is what got me into this relatively nondescript joint on a mid-week evening. The menu is pretty extensive, with all of the usual middle-eastern suspects. I went for the chicken shwarma pita, and my friend and I shared a side of saffron rice(extremely buttery, but hey, i’m not complaining) and an order of baba ganoush. The pita here isn’t as fluffy and soft as I would hope, but the flavors were all there. I was a garlic-breathing dragon for the rest of the evening. Oh, and the hot sauce(get it on the side) almost made my my head explode. The food is definitely the high note — there is zero atmosphere, the furniture all feels too large and clunky for the space, and the neon lighting is strange. The sole server, while attentive and friendly, seemed a little harried and overworked(we posited that he was also doing the cooking), so maybe don’t come here if you’re in a rush. I’m not sure that i’d make this place a destination, but if I’m wandering by and hungry, I know I can get a solid meal here. And I would certainly order delivery from them.

Best Kofta Sandwich you will get. I also had a gyro which was pretty good, but the kofta was an entirely new experience. I called this place just as it was about to close. I believe I was out of the delivery area, but they made some kind of «deal» with me that if I ordered a substantial amount of food, they would come. That was fine by me. I love food! After ordering the gyro, I asked what else was good. The person on the phone said that I should try the Kofta and that it was essentially a hamburger. Hamburger? I LOVE hamburgers! So I added that on too. My food came piping hot and everything was pretty big. The Kofta had all the fixings on it and was just amazing! I can’t actually describe it but it was better than your average«hamburger» and on a unique kind of bun. Trust me, it tastes a million times better than a hamburger. I have been to several other places trying to recreate this experience and the Kofta is always pretty bad. If Kofta is what you want, Pyramida is where you need to go. I really wouldn’t take a chance anywhere else.

What? You love grilled meat too? Stop in and get a shawarma or kofta sandwich and you won’t be sad. I promise. Their storefront isn’t really visible due to the construction, so use your eyes. It’s there. Very friendly staff, as well.

Pyramida has really really excellent food that is quite satisfying. It fills you up if you feel like going all out with some deep-fried chickpea balls or yogurt covered lamb. So while their food is indicative of old school knowledge and authentic plates with reasonable prices, their service reeks of newbie slowness and hesitancy which is kind of annoying… especially if you’re the only one eating in there on a Saturday afternoon at 2 pm. But for the most part I always feel that the food review far outweighs anything you can say about service(unless you were treated just horribly) and at Pyramida they are very friendly and nice. It’s almost like they’re just unaware of how slow they are, but perhaps it’s because they’re in the back slaving away over your plate of food which comes out piping hot and delicious. I ordered the vegetarian plate of falafel, hummus and babaghanoush. I’ve never had such crispy falafels and I have to say I enjoyed dipping them in the babaghanoush much more than the hummus. The falafels are also placed on top of a little pile of fresh tomatoes, lettuce and cucumbers which pair nicely with this deep-fried ensemble. We also ordered one plate of the seasoned fries and in a word, they are habit-forming.(Or is that two words?) Well, in a phrase, you’ll be craving these fries at 2 in the morning as you stumble back from late-night debauchery. They are SO good with this olive oil and garlic mix and as you get deeper to the bottom of the bowl more and more of the fries are completely soaked in this green Dr. Seussish olive oil seasoning. You feel like you really shouldn’t eat those last five completely drenched fries, but in the name of science, you really must because you just can’t believe how their fries are able to stay SO crispy yet swimming in EVOO. So just don’t come in if you’re in a rush and stopping for a brief lunch. Because brief will not happen. Rather you should do their take-out and still get the same fulfilling taste that leaves you wanting more even after you stuff yourself silly with lamb and hummus. Yet if you are in the mood to happily wait a bit over a nice dinner, the décor inside is casual yet romantic and has a great vibe with their open windows and lovely white curtains and candles.

Three and a half stars actually, but it feels right to round up here — mostly for the AMAZING baba ghanoush. Pyramida, if you’re reading this: I know eggplant prices are rising(*fact*) but please don’t change your recipe. If you’re into the smoky, meaty goodness of Middle Eastern food but aren’t necessarily a Middle Eastern food foodie, Pyramida should hit the spot — serving your usual trusty range of vaguely Israeli /vaguely Greek comfort foods. The décor is all dark emerald and chandeliery, oddly — charming in an old-skool diner kinda way. I knew this spot when it was still tiny and stowed around a corner between 1st and York. Glad to see it move to this more visible corner.

I have been ordering from Grub Hub for ages but this has been by far my worst experience(hence my first review). I ordered lunch(Gyro Platter) at quarter to 1, estimated time was 1:50 but the food got here at 2:30. Gyro was all burnt and cold, fries were super soggy and for 16.99 a platter it is a truly a highway robbery(especially when you can’t eat the crap). Grub Hub was awesome in calling the restaurant on my behalf and giving me a gift certificate and the restaurant offered a 10% discount for my next order but I don’t think I’m ever ordering from Pyramida and nor should you.

We were lured in with a handful of appetizing menu options, each coupled with a complimentary drink(brunch menu). Once we sat and ordered, the waitress informed us they were still waiting for their liquor license and offered us a free juice to «compensate» in lieu of the complimentary sangria or mimosa. We suggested they discount the menu offerings, since the alcoholic drinks were factored in to the overall price($ 13 for yogurt?). With a smug face, the manager comes out and explains«it’s a long process» to get a liquor license in NYC. We politely suggested that he should have waited until they had the license prior to printing 100 menus advertising drinks they can’t legally serve. When he offered us no recourse(not even so much as an apology) we left and took our appetites elsewhere. It’s no wonder there was no one dining in here on a sunny Saturday afternoon…

Incredibly affordable and tasty Greek food, fast-food style make Pyramida one of my favorite neighborhood delivery spots. The falafel sandwich is always good, made fresh and the Greek salads are good size and also fresh-made. Service is always friendly and delivery is pretty quick. It isn’t the most decadent or great Greek food in the city, but for fast, home delivery you can’t go wrong!

So we screwed up big time & picked this place. Well not my fault, my friend raved of her falafel in the past so Pyramidia was given a shot. We ordered on seamlessweb the cheese pie, an order of fries, she the falafel & I the lamb schwarma. To start both of the sandwiches in the listing said they came with salad and tahini. No salads came unless the call the lettuce & few bits of cuke that resembled a sloppy mop in the pita. A sloppy mop because the tahini which was asked for on the side was loaded up in the sandwiches. Although they were soggy enough from the oil that was either added purposely or must have soaked out from the falafel & schwarma. My friend got though about a quarter of the falafel, that was once claimed so great, now just a pile of mush. The pic posted here, nah nothing like ours. Wish it remotely resembled that. My schwarma was like no other schwarma i’ve seen before. As mentioned in an earlier review, like dog food. Yeah similar Iooking I guess, but if I fed my dog that little meat it would starve. If there was 2 oz in the thing I’d be surprised. It was more like some little chunks of that crappy sausage the chain pizza places use, greasy & nasty. The rest of it was filled with the lettuce /tahini slop & this whipped paste of «feta», could have been salted cream cheese if you didnt know. Hot white paste is a better fitting term. The fries were cold & saturated with grease. Cheese Pie was the same salted white paste wrapped in phyllo. Almost had a chance but alas was cold as the fridge. The damage for those 4 items. $ 29& change. What a sham, save yourself the $ and the grease heartburn. Go somewhere else.

This is a small hole in the wall spot in the UES. They serve pretty good food though. It’s a bit pricey, but they have solid lunch specials. The falafel is fried nicely. The pitas are a bit thick for my taste. I don’t like it too doughy. My fave dish here is their greek salads. They give you a good amount of lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, black and green olives, and 2 huge pieces of stuffed grape leaves. The only caveat is the olives aren’t pitted. I actually prefer their greek salad over Pita Grill. The food that they showcase in the glass looks really good. I def want to try some of their other dishes.

I ordered from here last night and it was decent. I have been in search of some good middle eastern take-out food and have yet to be impressed by anything. I ordered the falafel balls which were the best I have tried in Yorkville thus far. I also ordered a lamb gyro which was one hearty sandwich. The pita was thick and soft and it was chock full of meat, tomatoes and lettuce coated in Taziki sauce. I give them props for the amount of meat in the sandwich. They didn’t pretend to make it a big sandwich by filling it mostly with tomatoes and lettuce. It was mostly meat. I wish the taziki sauce was all over everything, instead of just the lettuce, and the lamb was not that amazing tasting. It was sort of expensive and the delivery took way too long, so I don’t know that I would order from here again. Hopefully I can find something better elsewhere.

This place is strange, the food is fantastic and one of the owners is super nice and let me literally try 20 side dishes(I thought I was going to explode but they were so good). The hummus is ridiculous. The other owners is not quite as nice. The lunch specials are great deals. The dinner stuff is pricey though and just ordering side dishes can rack up in no time. I remember the first time I ordered I kind of felt ripped off, I later figured out what to get for the right price. The lemonade is good, I’m not a crazy lemonade person though so for $ 5, nah not worth it.

I suddenly had a craving for Middle Eastern cuisine one evening. Of course, when I used the word«craving» to my bf he started looking at me funny until I smacked him for being ridiculous. A girl can get a weird, random craving without being pregnant, and mine just happened to be for cheap, Middle Eastern food. Since I’ve never had Middle Eastern food in my neighborhood, I had no idea where to order from and turned to Unilocal for inspiration. Pyramida came to the top of the list, and since it was cheaper than most other places we thought, «Why not?» and called them up. We shared the Ultimate Vegetarian Combo, which is falafel, hummus, babagannouj, tabouli, salad with feta and olives, and a few other dips that neither of us could identify with a pita, and we ordered some extra falafel since everyone on Unilocal kept raving about it in their reviews. Our order arrived surprisingly quickly and I was able to dive right into the food with gusto. After reading all the Unilocal hype, however, we were underwhelmed by the quality. There was alot of food, but every item had something to it that only made it taste ok. The hummus desperately needed some salt, the feta was TOO salty, and as for that infamous falafel… eh. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but the best falafel in New York? I don’t think so. But I was content, and so was my belly, and in the end for $ 14 the Vegetarian Combo is quite a steal.

Falafel sandwich was okay; thick pita bread, but overall lacking in flavor. Lemonade was curiously good(freshly squeezed with possible mystery additive). The person behind the counter always asks if you want lemonade with your order; the lemonade costs almost as much as a falafel so think first before you commit. Warm service.

Not bad — it’s as big as a minute(i.e. it’s very small) and thus, best for take out. We had baba ganoush and foul — both were rich and tasty. We usually got take out.
