Expensive and cheap. Lunch orders are over priced af and barely have meat in them. Waiters always forget or take long to come to a table.

Let me say that this place for me is «The Best Restaurant» in Washington Heights!!! I’ve been coming here for years and I just order one thing. The Steak and Onions!!! It’s amazingly cooked. Sometimes I do the Moro Rice or the Rice and Beans either way you can’t go wrong. And the price is always right!!!

The food is good that is the most positive thing, I have to say. The service here for the exception of a few people are really terrible. The attitude of the wait staff in general(not all) is just bad. You can be ignored in the middle of the day with no customers. At times, they are rude and turns you off of eating there in the first place. I only go there when I see certain servers who know me well enough and are nice. It is one of the few places where I didn’t want to give a tip and I typically always do.

They started off just fine, and slowly but surely slipped badly. If you ask for a delivery and include«maduros» or ripe plantains with your order, you will get the crappiest plantains on Earth, which i wouldn’t even feed to an animal. It’s simply disrespectful. Most of the people who answer the phones are super dumb, with no etiquette. I still give them 2 stars because the food(other than plantains) isn’t bad and moderately priced. Service sucks!

Used to go there everyday because the food is so good I usually get the steak with rice and beans but I stopped going because their service is terrible… they always have a sour face and an even more sour attitude and that’s why I’ll go anywhere before here

I only order the breakfast special. For $ 4 you can’t beat it. The special is limited to a couple of choices. Yuca or smashed plantains as a base, with three choices of salami, fried cheese, and fried egg. Pickled red onions is also included if you want. I order more salami cos they only give you three. They charge extra for more. The only reason I left out a star, is the lighting is very very dim. The people who work there, don’t fluently speak English. Overall, it’s a cheap deal.

I love this place for a great lunch/dinner fix. They’re reasonably priced too. My ONLY complaint is they are stingy with their meat proportions. If they have oxtails, they will fill the tin with tons of rice and give you maybe 4 pieces of oxtail. I sometimes just ask them for extra meat and pay an extra $ 2-$ 3.

Foods good generally, the service could be a bit better sometimes, prices are good. We mostly come for breakfast as it last longer the most Spanish places in the area

Punto de Sabor, has delicious and affordable food. The steak with pickled red onions was yummy. The place is great for groups. Great and attentive staff. Bathroom is clean. The décor and ambiance, are both warm and inviting. They have nice artwork hanging on the walls. I recommend this place, especially for groups and for a night out for some drinks.

Cheap, great Dominican food. Definitely get what’s on the table. If you go at a time when they are grilling chicken, you are in for a treat – I say this because my friend always goes here for chicken, and won’t even enter sometimes if there’s no chance of fresh grilled chicken. Check out and choose your food at the front as you walk in, then sit down & have your order taken in one of the booths. The atmosphere is diner-like; the place used to be in a smaller space a couple doors down, and the new space is good and long, and nicely decorated. The folks who own and run it seem to really care; there are a lot of young, energetic counter folks and servers, and they are easy to speak with(en español, por favor) and ask things from, and do a good job overall. The rice is great – I know that sounds funny maybe, but they cook and fluff it in some nice way so that when you get a bunch on your plate, shaped by a bowl, it just tastes good, moist, and almost already seasoned. You can often get con con(crusty golden rice from the bottom of the pot) – just peek and see. One of my favorite dishes is their berenjena(eggplant) stew, and I like their lentejas(a little overcooked sometimes) and habichuelas generally. You can get various stews, including what looks like a nice rich fish/cod stew, bean combos, and rice or steamed yuca, which is rich but tastes great. Also the whole range of plátanos maduros, etc. You can get a green salad if you ask for it, and it comes with the chicken, too; but vegetables per se are not the strong attraction here! Don’t come in too late, or the steamer tables will be empty, and you’ll need to wait quite a while for food. Clean, bathrooms are fine, wait staff is helpful. Kid friendly, family friendly. A neighborhood staple.

MMMM. I ended up ordering in spanish because there’s definitely a language barrier here, but the breakfasts were sooo good and there was a lot of it. Mashed plantains and cod fish for me, mashed plantains and eggs and onions for my companion. Lots of folks in the place were ordering the chicken and rice even though it was like 9am on New Year’s Day: oP As other folks have noted, the waitresses aren’t really attentive and the place isn’t particularly clean. But the food inspired me to spend a couple of weeks experimenting with plantains in my own kitchen! I’d definitely go back.

I love this place. The food is really good! Just like my moms food, but the service is and has always been horrible(I just order out, it’s not even worth it). & for some reason their desserts are always expired???

The Dulce de Leche was expired. The food was good. So I walked in for a soda and decided to try the food. The rice, beans and meat(fried steak) carne frita was good. The Parcha juice was tooo damn sweet, are they trying to kill someone with diabetes… Then, I asked for 2 desserts of the dulce de leche(milk sweet) to go, good thing I tasted it, it was expired, I almost puke. The waitress was minding other people’s business and I had to constantly look and signal for her to come over. My son had the salami with ham sandwich and it was not all that, he said the ham tastes funny as if it was experied and it was too hot when served, he got a bit burn and dropped it when tasting it. Why would they serve something so hot? maybe they used the microwave to heat it up instead of cooking it on an order basis. I always order salami sandwich from other places and it is never so hot. So, my guess is that the microwaved was used. Lazy cook?

I had to do this because been coming here for years but my last experience was horrible. –Table wasn’t cleaned –Both our plates had EXTRASALTY«Bistec» and«albondigas»…the rice helped to come it down a little — customer service is expected when you get out of your seat and plead to have drinks or food brought to you — I had meatballs and got 2… –some old blonde chick at the bar just stood there looking at us while we were trying to find a napkin to clean the table, and graced us with one when we asked… she was more worried about the money transactions coming in anyway –only really great part was the beans and rice… and washing the salt out with Pepsi I give it 2 stars only because I have been here before and never had a problem… it’s unfortunate I started Unilocalin when they stopped givin a f**k, I’m shocked and hope it’s not a continuing trend

Ive been to this place numerous times. When I lived in washington heights it was me and my husbands FAV place. The food is SO tasty and authentic dominican. If you order from th kitchen yes you will have to wait but you have to understandthey are making it from scratch(freshly cooked). It will be packed in the weekends, one problem I had was going on a festive day, i dn remember if it was easter or something it was really packed and we actually waited about 15 min and another group that came before us skipped us an took an available seat quickly. So obviosly the staff doesnt really acknowledge your wait time and take you into consideration. The chubby mexican girl just looked at us and didnt say a word. I was very upset considering we would always go on weekend so they did know us. We actually ended up leaving. Anyway food is great, service could be ALOT better. You wnt spend more than 20 on 2 people

The good is cheap and great authentic Dominican food jut like grandma would make it. CON do not I repeat do not try to custom order anything go for the already prepped food because you will wait for ages. The waitresses are slow and don’t speak english(but that’s ok). The breakfast is the best and the cheapest in the heights.

Very reasonably priced Dominican food in an almost totally Dominican area on a street with countless Dominican oriented businesses. Came in for a late breakfast and got a sample with a bit of everything mangú(mashed up plantain), sweet plantain(maduros), wonderfully seasoned roast chicken, ribs, that awesome grilled cheese that Dominicans make(don’t know what they call it), delicious onion, deep fried Dominican salami. I found service to be good, the waitresses seemed friendly, the place seemed pretty clean and comfortable to me, but I was not there on a hot or cold day so I can’t speak to the climate control issue addressed in a previous review. There are numerous boothes and tables to sit and also a small bar, a TV which when I came in was tuned to Spanish language news about the Venezuelan election results. They have a $ 4 breakfast special which is an incredibly good deal, however I was pretty hungry and wanting to try more things so I paid more to get a bigger sampling.

$ 6 for a lunch special? Where do i sign up? I settled for the rotisserie chicken with yellow rice and beans and it was damned good. The flavor was definitely there. The price was definitely there. My only issue? It was freakin’ freezing in there. Dude, turn up the heat… please? If you do not speak Espanol, be prepared to point to what you want.
