Proto’s Pizza

Omg. This place is amazing. Friendly people (met Hal who makes your day better now matter what) and the food… Yuuuuummmmmmmmm. People you have to try that pesto ravioli. And the pizza… delicious. I don’t think it should say more. You just have to go try it

Not much to look at but the Pizza is spot on, crunchy, light and delicious base with great sauce and toppings. I wish one of the pizza places near me was as good as this.

I’m really unhappy with my order tonight. This is actually my first Unilocal review because it needed it. I ordered delivery through Seamless. Although it was prompt and the delivery guy was really nice the food is not good.
I’ve ordered from here before and had a good experience which is why I ordered Proto’s again (last time ordered a basic plain pie which was delicious)
Tonight I ordered a margarita pie and a Caesar salad.
Margarita– tasted stale like it’s been sitting for a while. The mozzarella is not melted, the basil is mostly basil stems creating a weird texture, the pizza itself is tough to chew– almost like it was a frozen pizza that was microwaved.
I’ve been craving pizza all weekend, finally gave in and it was a huge let down.
I also got a Caesar salad with dressing on the side– the lettuce is crisp but has a bitter taste. All of the croutons are burnt and somehow soggy? I don’t understand since the dressings on the side and the croutons are burnt.
Lastly the napkin they wrapped my utensils in, smelt like cigarette smoke. Gross.
All in all, I spent 28 dollars on delivery pizza and salad and it’s not even worth eating.

The neighborhood has a couple places for pizza but this place is the best. The pizza here is delicious, crispy, and fresh. The veggie panini is one of the best I’ve ever had because of the delicious pesto and fresh bread. Delivery is fast and dining in is fun because of the friendly staff.

Boy is this place good. Quit messing around and go get yourself a slice!!!

Wonderful pizza, delicious sauce (which is important to me), bread/​sauce/​cheese ratio is perfect. Will recommend to anyone!

I work in the neighborhood and this place is slowly becoming my favorite. We order in a lot and their delivery is really quick.
Beside pizza that is probably the best in the east village, pesto ravioli and the meatball parm hero are to die for. Next to try will be their specialty called Burek.
Can’t wait.

The people here are awesome. The pizza was fabulous — perfect crust!!! Got the pizza right when it came out of the oven — heavenly!

Excellent pizza. Finally I find very good authentic NYC pizza closed by my work, I been trying almost all of them this the place quick delivery, very good pizza. Definitely i would order again from Proto’s pizza.

I’ve been there few times this month, everything was perfect, all of the pizza slices were great, the BUREK it’s to die for…
The best pizzeria in neighborhood.

It’s been a while since I visited New York. I used to live there before moving to Los Angeles. I always tell people how i miss New York Pizza. Recently I went back to visit. After a long day of walking around i needed my PIZZA :) My friend recommended we stop at Proto’s. I absolutely loved the food. The owner itself greeted us. What a friendly and awsome staff. Very positive and passionate about their dishes.
Proto’s is definitely one of my favorite places to visit every time I visit New York.

It’s under new ownership apparently & as such this is once again a great neighborhood pizzeria (Enzo’s was the best)! Food is awesome, staff is great, so nice & helpful. One star off for cheesy décor but hey, you’re not here for the view so no worries! Protos delivers also so keep it in mind for those miserable nights you don’t want to go outside and forage for food, Salut Protos!

I love this place! Pizza is great and Finally good BUREK!!! It’s hard to find a good Burek in NYC! Balkans would understand me! So happy that no need to go to Queens for it anymore. Go and try, you will not regret!

This place is a heaven for pizza lovers! If you are not getting a slice on the rush, stop by and ask the chef for a slice of his special pizza. I eat here almost everyday and the four cheese pizza is my favourite. They also make a unique layered pastry called burek, something you won’t definitely find anywhere in New York. Give one of them a try and you would absolutely love it!!!

I absolutely LOVE this pizza place. The staff is always super friendly and efficient and the pizza is DELICIOUS. Proto’s is my go-​to spot!

The dough in even a cheese pizza is so amazing that the addition of extra toppings is unnecessary. These guys know what they’re doing and it’s such a refreshing addition to east village!

Awesome. Absolutely delicious. Tried a slice and had to get another slice of pepperoni. Next time will try the mediterranean specials. Also, the service attitude is always upbeat.

Unfriendly service. I couldn’t hear the 2 people behind the counter mumbling at me over the TV that was blaring a Mexican version of Judge Judy.
Very poor pizza. This would pass as good pizza in middle America, but when you serve pizza in NYC you need to step up your game. The dough was dry and bland. The slice was served a degree over room temperature.
This joint was empty at 8pm. I’m guessing the neighborhood folks wrote this place off a long time ago.
2 stars is generous.
