Great Italian restaurant ran by Italians(not Italian Americans). Had the caponata, which was delicious. The rigatoni all a Norma was lip smacking, but, most of all THEBESTCASSATAANDCANNOLI in NYC! I’ve had the best cannoli in Italy, so I’ve been searching for something as good here in New York(must have tried at least 20 places), and this is the closest to the real thing!

Hands down the best Sicilian food in the city with very friendly staff. Before recently moving, boyfriend and I would frequent the restaurant often. The menu is always full of special treats and the Bucatini Con Sarde is out of this world. Also, highly recommend the pasta with almond pesto and shrimp. Outstanding. We will go here whenever we visit the city in the future.

Great place, location and décor. The staff is extremely friendly and being there really feel like being in Italy. Most of the clients were Italian which is always a good sign. We had the agnoletti with beef ragu which has a nice pizza dough crust and was delicious. And my husband had a pizza which was delicious too. We will definitely go back.

I came here because of a Groupon I got: 3 dozen oysters and a bottle of Prosecco for $ 40. Who could beat that! So I redeemed it during a girls night out. The restaurant is cute with a sliding window that opens up during warm days. Everything was good. The white sauce for the oysters that day was THEBEST, I wanted to bottle it up and take it home! I came here a couple months after hoping I could get some of that saucey-goodness with my oysters again but disappointed when they said they didn’t have it. Not sure if it was a seasonal thing but they should have that year round. Oh and the eggplant was good too.

Nothing fancy, but this place is cheaper than a lot of other nearby Italian places, and the menu will satisfy a wide range of people. They have a lot of pizza and pasta items, yes, but also entrees that are gluten– and dairy-free, etc. They’re also good with large groups. The octopus entrée is fantastic — wonderfully tender yet crispy at the edges.

Wow RURTVIJ I don’t think you are fair. A little insident you have described doesn’t sound right and definitely not enough to justify 1 star rating. We love the place and keep recommending it to all our friends. Food there is excellent, service is authentic. We ‘ve been going to this place for some 7 – 8 years and it is consistently high in our to go list. While I disagree with the owner when he removed fire brick oven and I missed their pizzas and faccacia sandwiches, we still consider Cacia one of the best Italian places in the NYC.

Very good! I had the zucchini goat cheese fettuccine and it was so light and fresh. The pizza was also good. The Bolognese baked pasta was amazing, very big! We had to take a doggie bag home. Overall a great night. An edit to my review: the tiramisu is amazing! Enough to share

The food here is passable Italian. This review is for the service we experienced yesterday evening regarding our bill. Like at most other restaurants, at the end of the meal our group of nine chose to split the bill(evenly, no complicated math here) between multiple credit cards. This was not taken well. The waitress snapped at us that while yes she could do the math, she did not have the time. She then proceeded to call the manager to explain their unwritten«policy». I know people have differing opinions on this, but I believe that if a restaurant holds itself out as willing to accept large groups, and even adds a required gratuity for groups, they should be willing to do the extra things that are sometimes required to service groups. Or tell us up front. TLDR: Don’t go here with a large group.

The food is okay. Meatball appetizer was good with a bit too sweet sauce. Tonnarelli alla Carbonara di Mare was good but not too flavorful and the portion was rather small. Service was excellent, and the owner was hands on. Very reasonably priced. I would like to return and try the pizza. Main objection; far too much noise. Just so loud, could barely hear the waiter or myself think.

4 stars for the food. This review is for the management. I agree with the happy reviewers who enjoy their meals — the food here is authentic and can be amazing. The management, however, I believe to be in over their heads. The place is small. Staff is not properly trained, or well mannered. Reservations are completely meaningless when the place gets busy, and there is no space for waiting patrons to stay. The resulting frenzy in there when the skeletal staff is overworked or under stress is too much to make even their best meal worth it. I won’t be going back.

We love coming to Cacio e Vino! Delicious Sicilian dishes. I love the pizza as well as pasta dishes. Try getting Cacio Piselli. It’s not just a dish, but an experience. They bring your pasta with peas and pancetta in a huge chunk of Pecorino cheese. They mix the pasta inside the cheese in front of you and serve it on your plate. Needless to say it’s super delicious! And don’t leave unless you taste the true Sicilian deserts. I love the tiramisu and cannoli. Buon appetito!

Great option near NYU or the Public Theatre. In addition to the previously suggested dishes, the fettucine with tuna and eggplant; eggplant and sardine appetizers and pistacchio, almond, chocolate semifreddo are excellent. Bargain deals allow you to try 5 apps for $ 10 or 3 apps + 3 wines for $ 15.

I love this place. I always start with oysters when I come here, they are super fresh and delicious and perfectly served. I’ve been here many times and I’m surprised to read some of the bed reviews about oysters. I was never disappointed. Always extremely fresh. All the ingredients are high quality. The pasta here is excellent. I loved the fusilli with pesto trapanese and the bucatini with fennel. The pesce alla griglia also is amazing and the octopus is so soft. Authentic italian tastes. And I’m Italian, this place reminds me dishes and tastes from my country. Bravi!

My review is based on a groupon– bought a groupon for 18 oysters and 2 glasses of wine. I will not lie, I saw the reviews on Unilocal prior to coming here and was frightened! There are old reviews about oysters being dirty, not chilled, not on ice– and even with worms! I went with my friend anyway planning to dare him to eat them if we spotted any. The place is nice, wood furnished, darkly romantic, and warmly welcoming with a thick italian-accented waiter. They must have really paid attention to Unilocal reviews because I didn’t have any problem like what others described. The oysters were all massive, meaty, cold, and clean. I think they were the biggest fattest ones I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot. They came on a big dish of ice and because I’m sometimes OCD, I spent a long time cutting open all of them to ensure no worms were present. There were no preemptive tip charges on my bill either. Overall, the experience was much, much better than what I had hoped and I’ll be back to try their other dishes!

Came here with my Kazakh friends. Very good food, delectable. Also the price came out very reasonable. We had 4 dishes: eggplant parmigiana timbale, sautéed mussels, clams, and fusilli al pesto, it’s a pasta with pesto sause and shrimp. We shared, making it similar to tapas. Delighted with the price and the service.

Cozy, quaint place offering up distinctive, authentic Sicilian fare. Of the apps we tried, the grilled calamari was my fave. The calamari was a generous portion, cooked perfectly with a light, grilled taste. The mango salads were also well-received at our table. As for the pasta, the tonnarelli carbonara with seafood and the fusilli with shrimp and pesto were both delicious! Pasta dishes are very reasonably priced, and if you’re having apps and maybe dessert as well, they’re certainly big enough to constitute a main meal. We had considered ordering both pasta courses and entrees, but that would have been a lot of food, probably too much for all but the heaviest of eaters. The wine list is mostly Sicilian, with a nice range of reasonably-priced choices. Service was attentive, helpful and friendly. And lastly, the desserts! We ordered one of each of the sweet desserts, and of those four, the cassata Siciliana(a traditional cake) and the cannolo were hands-down my favorites. The cake in particular was delicious, and something you don’t see on every menu, so do yourself a favor and check it out.
