Praying Mantis Martial Arts Institute

One of the best martial art schools in New York. I’ve started practicing in this school in 1997 and since then it became part of my life. You would learn authentic kung-​fu style here and will become part of great group of people. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a Kung-​Fu school with traditions and serious approach.

It has been a very special and uplifting experience to study here, not to mention super healthy… both physically and mentally.
If you are interested in studying the true, authentic Kung fu, as it has been carefully handed down over generations, this is your place.
It is totally non commercial, and is totally about preserving Chinese culture.
Northern praying mantis is an especially challenging, mysterious form of Kung Fu. It alternates soft and hard, high and low, and other alternating moves in deadly, lethal, fast paced, surprising combinations. It is hard to believe how something so graceful can also be so powerful.
If you are accepted to study here you could, if you choose to, learn the art of Lion Dance, but that is purely optional.
Personally I consider it a true privilege to be permitted to study here.
It is a life altering experience.
