I asked for iced tea with tiny ice it came packed with ice the food was revolting, the sliders were meat in between buns and fries were cold and crunchy. I told the waitress she asked if I wanted other dish after 30 mins of not seeing her I said we had to go, paid my over paid bill of garbage food and drink and left. Will NOT be returning. Waitress on the other hand was very nice :-)

The views from the place are less than stellar given 1) the location of the hotel and 2) the layout of the lounge/pool area. You see, the pool area is entirely roped off to the general publc which cuts the visible view from up top by half. There is an outdoor area on the other side but it’s pretty small and narrow. The views span about 180 degrees and as I mentioned before, given the location of the hotel, there is not much to look at. I hate to claim this is a rooftop bar as it’s more so a lounge with an outdoor patio(unless you are a hotel guest or a groupie). I do like that they have Newcastle on tap. FYI, not sure if this is always the case but there is an automatic 18% tip applied to drinks(said Newcastle was $ 10 total). This part of town is not great for rooftop bars(stick to the west side and areas further north towards Central Park).

I am mainly updating this review because I am no longer a Kardashian fan after all of Kim’s crap with Chris/Kanye/the pregnancy… and I am embarrassed about my earlier review for that reason. I wish the Kardashians would go away and stop«taking» cities. Anyway, as of late Plunge is sometimes inaccessible due to private events, which is disappointing. More than a handful of times I have tried to head there for a cocktail, and found that the lines are too long or the space is closed for one reason or another. Still a great option for week nights and when it’s available.

Attractive crowd, good music and bouncers were pleasant. Will definitely be back here again. Looking forward to the warmer weather when the Sunday pool parties commence!

I paid like $ 50-something pre-tip for 3 shots of Patron here, but I guess that’s my own fault. It’s a rooftop bar without much of a view. Not sure what the appeal is with how small the rooftop space is, and how the inside with its many different ambient lit rooms is more of a maze than it is a lounge. The music is much better than what’s played at 230 Fifth(but then again, where isn’t it?), and I don’t think you need table service in order to grab a seat(correct me if I’m wrong), but this place certainly isn’t worth the wait out front or premium drink prices. Not a place I’d bring guests to entertain them with a rooftop NYC view, and neither a place I’d return to for my own enjoyment. Expect a line to form outside, especially on weekend nights as it gets later. I can’t comment about acception/rejection at the door because my accompanying girlfriend is gorgeous, thus making me look more studly than I already am.

Lovely view. The view is a little more blocked by surrounding buildings than some of the other popular rooftops, but it is quite nice. Music in the outdoor space is played quitely. Indoor bars below essentially become mini night clubs on weekends. The patio seems like a great place to chill after work and enjoy the sunset. Typical overpriced drinks. $ 54 for 3 patron shots before tip. I could buy a whole bottle at the local liquor store for that price! lol. I’ll be drinking beforehand next time. If you come on a weekend night, there is a line but it goes relatively quickly and there’s no cover. The bouncers were actually really nice, polite, and used their manners when requesting ID’s(«please» and«thank you sweetheart.») That’s a nice change from the douchey MPD scene.:) Rooftop closes earllyy. Boo.

Completely unimpressed for a multi-level nightclub. The rooftop was closed, another room was closed, and I was herded like cattle down the three flights of steps. There was really nothing enjoyable about my experience here. Although the space has potential, and I was in awe when I first got off the elevator and saw the huge chandeliers suspended from the initial room’s lounge area, there are way too many stairs for a drinking establishment. People were stumbling down the steps with drinks spilling everywhere. It was so easy to slip and fall! Other than that, there was no signage just people yelling«Get out this area is closed!». Seriously, I came to this bar for the rooftop. I can understand if you want to close it for the night but at least treat us like human beings rather than cattle. Also, please tell me the rooftop is closed before I stand in line to enter into your club. I probably would not be in line if I knew it was closed. Drinks are expensive, which of course you would expect for a NYC hotspot. And if you are not on the list it can be difficult to get in. All in all, this place is overrated. I might try to come back during the daytime when I can actually enjoy the rooftop.

DRINKS About $ 15 for a regular vodka/soda. Usual overpriced drinks at a highend lounge or club. NOTIMPRESSIVE. Tip: Drink before you come :) AMBIANCE The venue is beautiful. One of the best looking lounges I’ve ever seen. VERYIMPRESSIVE. Plunge consists of 3 floors — just fyi, the rooftop isn’t always open, especially at night. There’s the top floor, rooftop. The floor below that has 3 rooms plus an outdoor patio with a fireplace! 1 with the pool The 2nd, just outside that, has a bar, a lounge area, and full-length windows so you could clearly see outside — no! No too close!(Freaks me out a lil; scared of heights) And 3rd, the Blue Room, which is just a regular lounge area with a bar(sometimes it’ll be closed for a private event.) The floor below that really just has two rooms. The one on the right(whether you’re coming through the elevator or the stairs) is a large lounge area with a fireplace and a small outside patio(please don’t smoke! :)) — a lot of times it will be closed for private events. The other room has the bar, where people usually stand, converse, and drink(maybe some people will dance) and to the left of that, in the same room, but behind a curtain is another lounge area, with couches, chairs and tables. The staff is friendly(some more than others). ‘MEH. bartender & waitstaff, not so much bar manager, bouncers, bathroom attendees, very much. Waitresses are hot, and they wear those sexy black tight dresses? 8o so, that’s always nice! :D CROWD Plunge Bar @ The Gansevoort Hotel is upscale, so everyone’s dressed to the 9s. Everyone looks good, and they act it. The crowd can be real uppity. Some friendly folks, but is definitely not the norm. And the thing is, you’ll see a lot of hot girls here, but most are average. If you’re coming To avoid a long line, its best to come around 11. The place doesn’t get busy until 12 though(don’t wait until then tho — the line will be too long and you probably won’t get in) OVERALL Good place to go once in a while. Venue is hot, place is clean, bathrooms are clean, good to not be in a dive, but can meet just as hot chicks at other bars in the city and save a ton of money not spent buying drinks here! ;) Yes, this place looks classy, but a ton of bars in NYC are just as classy for ½ the price :)

3 – 3.5 stars A decent rooftop lounge. They have a nice looking bar and a separate enclosed area if you want to dance so you get the best of all worlds.

This is your standard, rooftop bar and club/lounge. I’ve never had a terrible time here, but every night I have gone isn’t particularly memorable(and not because of alcohol, ok?) During the hot, summer nights there is usually a line outside the hotel to get in. It’s not that long of a wait but I suggest going to the Gansevoort with a promoter in mind, or just go early in the night to avoid hassle. The rooftop grants you a terrific view of midtown & the empire state building, but the size of the space is not as big as I would’ve imagined. The pool takes up a good chunk of the rooftop and TBH I was scared of falling in. There are a few other rooms to check out, like the«red room» which has a MePa vibe. You need to be on a guest list to enter, I believe. The music ranges from top 40, house, even some ‘90s which I liked. No real dance floor, though. Expect to bump elbows with everyone, as it gets quite packed. Drinks are moderately priced, but if you’re a girl you probably won’t be paying for them anyway. Diverse crowd for the most part, not really the funnest place to go out but if it’s convenient and if you’re with a good group of friends then go for it.

Swanky hotel roof bar… nice space, good seating, heated pool, AND relataively reasonable drink prices. I work a half a block from the Gansevoort Park Avenue, and can’t wait to head back here in the spring/summer when it’s more comfortable in the outside space.

Ive lived in nyc for 6 years, and never seen such a blatant racism in the line to get into plunge. We waited patiently for 45 minutes in line, watching throngs other people get ushered in for no reason. Finally as we got to the front of the line(had a group of 4), and after we watched a group of 8 dudes go in, the doorwoman looked our group over and who had asked nobody previously the same question as we were in the general admission line, asked us which party we were here for? We replied that we were meeting friends. She looked each of us over(seemingly anaylzing us) and then told us that it would be a 75 dollar minimum per person or a required bottle to get in now. We all looked at our watch because it was 1240, never told by anyone that this was the case. We asked her why at this time, and all ahe could muster was«just because». We then asked her why the previous group had not been charged nor any group we had seen enter and she had no explanation. Ive heard of covers up to 50 dollars and such but his smelled like such huge bs. My group was is such a shock because we were all thinking the same thing«racism really??» If you aren’t white, dont bother to get into the general admission line. Ill find somewhere else to throw away my money on 15 dollar beers. At least those lounges pretend to be minority friendly.

* Plunge is a pretty chilled out bar on the rooftop(level P2) of Hotel Gansevoort. Level P1 is the dance floor. * Prices are decent for this semi-upscale lounge(around $ 10+ for a jack-n-coke) * Features a lovely swimming pool. They do have bikini nights on some days. Drink, smoke, relax and breathe some fresh air, while mingling with a diverse crowd.

Came here late on a Friday night and went up to the rooftop first. I thought the view of the empire state building all lit up was gorgeous and the pool was extremely enticing, calling you to dive in. Not overly crowded the night I was there… Then we hit the club downstairs, I loved their music. They had dancers in bikinis on small stages through out the room and it was hard to look away. My girlfriend and I ended up on the stage after one too many drinks and they were nice enough not to say anything. Overall, a nice night out.

Great view and managed to get in easily and even got a table right outside, facing Hudson(though I didn’t get bottle service). Great music, strong drinks and friendly bartenders(especially the cute one), not sure was it because of my tips. Anyway I was kinda buzz after 2 drinks, whooopy Very well dressed crowd, get really packed on Saturday night, and can’t really dance since many are eyeing for our table!

Gansevoort rooftop bar. Enough said. You should know to expect expensive drinks and a loud/crowded décor. I personally would rather go to 230 Fifth, but I appreciate the creative balcony with glass-floor and swimming pool. Unfortunately, when I say crowded, I really mean crowded. They also have this weird cheap(but trying to stay fancy) plastic cup thing going on. I’m not a big fan, but if you want to just go here for eye candy, there are definitely plenty of pretty people. Gansevoort seems to do that — they just attract pretty eye candy. This could be right down your alley, but there are other rooftop bars…

There’s always a stigma that goes with the people who frequent Manhattan’s rooftop bars. Plunge’s clientele is no different. We spotted Jackie from the most recent season of The Bachelor. However, I actually had a great time. It could be because we came during a weekday

There is a particular demographic that will undoubtedly love Plunge. I hope to never be part of that. If Plunge was a person, it would be one of those famewhoring quasi celebrities who’s famous for being famous and bitchy and pretentious and mildly attractive in a sort of trashy way but lacks any discernible skills and yet still managed to land a reality show. The décor is nice enough. But it’s nothing spectacular. There is a dearth of seating near the bar, and a large bed off in the opposite corner, for whatever reason. There are floor-to-ceiling windows that offer lovely views of the neighbors’ condos… which I suppose is great, if you’re into voyeurism. There is a narrow balcony with a glass floor that offers a breathtaking panorama of the top of the awning below. And there is another outdoor area with a pool, which I admit might be cool… though it was closed off to the public last night for Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, who were having a première party for The Social Network. Regardless, you see where I’m going with all this, right? Going to Plunge is like watching the ladies of the Jersey Shore go on about how classy they are. But all this would be tolerable if not for the absurd prices they charge. A beer and a vodka/soda? $ 25. First, I thought I accidentally ordered my beer from the kids menu, because it came in a stumpy cup that couldn’t have held more than 6 ounces. Then, I found out they automatically tack on an 18 or 20% gratuity *for the hotel.* Way cool, bro. You would literally have to pay me to go back to Plunge. There are nicer bars with nicer views and nicer rooftops and nicer prices. The only thing keeping this review at two stars is the fact that the staff — both the bouncers and bartenders — were very nice… a pleasant surprise for an otherwise terrible place.

During a recent visit to NYC, I made plans with a close girlfriend to get together and hang out on a Saturday. I told her I didn’t care where we went, so she chose her favorite spot, Plunge at Gansevoort Park Hotel(conveniently enough only two blocks from where she lives — a dangerously awesome fact). We met up at 10:30pm and there was a small line of people waiting to go upstairs to the rooftop bar and lounge. Clearly, being a girl(and attractive, of course) means you can get inside easily. A group of guys in front of us were turned away right as we were allowed into the building. Upstairs was already getting pretty crowded, not surprising considering the amazing weather and VIEW! You’re right by the Empire State Building with a clear shot of the upper half of it(and also into several apartments across the street *ahem*guyinboxersandnothingelse*ahem*. The bar is always packed, so be prepared to wait a bit before you can order. We both enjoyed glasses of their prosecco to start, and then she had a gin and tonic while I tried a glass of their Riesling(which tasted more like apple juice — very alcoholic apple juice). While we chatted, we were amused by the odd assortment of people around us, from young professionals in suits to near Jersey Shore quality. After less than 2 hours we decided to peace out, mostly since we were tired but also because it was getting crowded to the point of unbearable. Still, its a fun place to go to, and definitely better than their overcrowded beyond belief Meatpacking district spot.

I can’t believe no one has started a review for the new bar at Hotel Gansevoort Park. Even though I live a stone throw away, my frist time there was only a week ago on an off saturday(it was yom kippur so not a lot of people were out) Since it’s Gansevoort, just expect there to be creation of a scene at the door. Never enter with a large group of people unless all girls. I got in with my beau pretty quickly right before midnight and took the elevator to P1 which is more of the lobby lounge area. It is true to consistent Gansevoort style, spacious and modern. a Big bar right at the entrance with double floor ceiling and lovely chandeliers. To the right there is a cozy dark wood color big lounge with another half bar in the back. There is a four group seater balcony to the left of that lounge room facing Park ave. It’s definitely a different perspective looking at the avenue we strut on everyday from top. Appreciate the heat lamp. Going up the stairs to P2 is where things are happening, with a hallway able to look down to the lobby where I entered. bar and lounge on the left, more balconies and through the lounge is the pool area. I don’t know why I didn’t try to come here when it was summertime, it seems like a really good place to chill by some water with the half open rooftop style and several spacious lounge matts around. I can see how this place would get crowded in the summer. Drinks are what you expect but i like the place enough to pony up for it. Hopefully the crowd keeps going strong till next year and I will definitely frequent in the summer this time. Approved place for pre-party drinks :)
