Stumbled upon this little place last summer. Very tasty food! Loved the stuffed grape leaves.

Tried to come by here. Place was locked and dark, but there’s food in the display, just no one around to sell it.

Years ago this place was a stand-by for me. Last 2 years it has nose dived and I can officially say I will never go back. The quality is now crap — the prices keep rising — and the service more and more rude. Today I ordered a large Greek salad — paid $ 10. Wilted lettuce, flavorless tomatoes, a sprinkle of feta, and 3 dolmas. No olives, no cucumbers, no pita. Took 20 minutes and only 3 other customers in the place. And as many people mention — the 2 brothers that run this place seem to hate their jobs and hate their customers. I now order from Uncle Nick’s on 8th — great quality and they deliver.

Falafel isn’t good here. Hummus wasn’t much better. I am starting to think this place is a drug front because I never see anyone in there.

I always stop by this place whenever I am in the neighborhood! Love their falafel and hummus. Great food and great service!

Do yourself a favor. When you get to Pita City just keep going on to Hummus and Pita Co.(17th and 6th) which tastes A LOT better. Went here once and got a falafel pita. Falafel was meh. Pita was awfully tough and chewy(maybe microwaved?). The standard toppings are underwhelming — lettuce, tomato and runny tahini. Also the service was pretty slow considering that it was obviously not busy. Positive notes: Falafel pita was only five bucks even. The counter staff was friendly. Food prep area looked pretty clean. They had a lot of «extras» like spinach pies, desserts, juices, etc.

The owners of this place are dangerous and psychotic. I placed a delivery order for a falafel this evening. At the 45-min mark, noting that my order had not yet arrived, I called and cancelled the order and told my doorman to refuse it if it came. I’m sorry if that seems extreme, but this isn’t complicated food and they really need to tighten-up their delivery game if they want to run a delivery business. About 10-mins following my doorman turning them away, the owner(one of the two sons to whom the original owner, the Father, left the business) called me screaming. I hung up on him. He called back multiple times, threatening me, stating that he wanted to deal with me «face-to-face.» Dude, it’s a falafel! My advice to the owner is to take the cash from the register and blow it on a bottle at some club in meatpacking and chill the f* out! They’d fit right in: The two brothers running this place are hilarious early 20s douche bags that look like they should be in an episode of Growing Up Gotti. My advice to current and potential customers is to go elsewhere. These guys are suuuuuuper slow and the food is not especially fresh. It was a probably a great spot when the father was running it.

Frozen falafel, runny hummus, slow service, and the platter was small for the price. You’d be much better off going to The Hummus & Pita Co a few blocks away.

It’s the only falafel place in the hood, but it’s so not great. It’s mediocrity is exacerbated by the fact that I get to Mamoun’s in the village once in a while. The prices there are half and the quality is twice so I’m constantly disappointed when I go here. If they were not so over priced I’d be ok with it but I think I’m done going here. Tonight I watched them make my falafel sandwich and the guy picked two TWO pieces of tomato to put in the sandwich. Cheap is one thing but CHEAP like this is another.

I love this place! I try to me my falafel fix fro here at least once a week. What strikes me most here is the cleanliness of this place. The food not only looks fresh, but it is fresh. Always, Always, Always! I tell you, that for me, this is the best falafel place that I have tasted. I suggest you try it for yourselves. They also have meats, rices, spinach pies, candies. They also make fresh fruit or vegetable juices. The prices are fair too. I truly love this place. Try it. you will not be disappointed!

Well. I went back another time today within a week of my last visit. So I must really like this place. Putting aside that $ 7 for a to-go vegetarian pita is pretty steep, I am really obsessed with Pita City’s hummus. The first time I had grape leaves and hummus on a pita. The second time I added falafel. I’ve had comparable falafel from a street vendor, but it’s not bad at all. The place looks a bit sketchy from the outside, but don’t worry. The men that work there are very nice and there are three very small tables you can eat at. I like how the ingredients are displayed(no mysteries in your pita), they look fresh, and they’re labeled vegan and/or gluten free. If only a pita was $ 5…perfection.

A great, local pita joint that has the most amazing lamb gyro I’ve ever had. I didn’t know I liked lamb gyros until I had the one from Pita City! My pic:

The falafel pita was tasty, but could have used more veggies in it. There was no hot sauce. Vegan options were clearly labeled, which I appreciated. The fried cauliflower was very tasty but the iced Turkish coffee was gross. Not sweet, not spiced like Turkish coffee typically is and so full of grounds throughout that every sip had me coughing. I threw it away after 3 sips. The sandwich, side of cauliflower and coffee ran me $ 15, which I did not think was a very good value. Overall, not bad, but I would recommend Mamoun’s or The Oasis at the Bedford L stop over this place both in flavor and value.

I have been thinking and dreaming about falafel for months and years now… and just have never gotten around to buying some! So I went to Pita City and got a pita filled with falafel for 5 bucks. Not a bad deal. But the guy at the register gave me a dirty look when he saw that I saw paying with a card. I mean, sorry man, but I need bus fare! So that was dissapointing. My pita was ok. Nothing I would rave about and I probably will not go back. The pita was also filled with tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and some kind of unknown sauce. So, while it was good enough for me to finish, it was not amazing, like I had hoped.

Their catering is not to be messed with. Our in-office make-your-own falafel party was a HIT! We ordered the vegetarian party platter, which came with all the necessary sides and accoutrements, as well as stuffed grape leaves(yumm!) and a few small containers of desert cookies. We added 2 side trays of assorted meat. Everything was delicious, delivered on time, and at the proper temperature. And they sent over enough food to feed our small army twice over — all for less than $ 10/head. Highly recommended — We will definitely be ordering again!

Not impressed. I was starving and hoping to have a inexpensive good meal. Unfortunately this place didn’t perform. It was 7 $ for falafel/hummus on a pita. It took a couple of minutes to get it and I inhaled it but it wasn’t that great. I wouldn’t take anyone here or go again, not with all the amazing falafel places around.

This is a difficult review to write, but I’ve reached my wit’s end with this place. I love their hot sauce — it’s just amazing. BUT every time I order and ask for extra hot sauce, I either get a pitifully small amount, or none at all. Most recently, I placed my order on seamlessweb, specifying that I wanted extra hot sauce. I received none. When I called to ask for some to be sent over to me, I was assured it would be. None was sent. Thus, I ate my falafel without any tahini or hot sauce. If this place wants repeat customers, this is NOT the way to go about it. Too bad, because the food is decent.

The name of the place *should* say it all… but I felt bamboozled. Your typical falafel’y stuff… but not so good like the«on the street corner» stuff… plus, the stuff is cheaper on the street corner. The b/f liked his order, I don’t think I’ll be going back.

Chicken Kabob Pita ‘wich: chicken was a bit dry and over grilled, more lettuce than Chicken and the sauce caused the Pita to shred and start falling apart. I’ve had better but am willing to re-visit to try other Pita’s. They’re Baklava’s and desserts look delicious!
