I’m sure this would’ve been a great spot to eat but I will never know since I was standing in the front while two waiters were having a convo and no one either sat me down or asked what I need; there were no seats available anyways but atleast«wait a moment» would let a customer not feel lost or stupid

Not too shabby for a hole-in-the-wall taqueria in soho! I came here after a workout with two friends because we were looking for a way to completely ruin our workout(obviously). This place was perfect; not crowded and no funny business – just some taco goodness. All the tacos were fairly decent, and for myself, I enjoyed the chicken salad with guac, cotija cheese and just a touch of the cilantro dressing they provide. But what I love most from here are the Yucca Fries! Crispy, solid sticks of fried yucca dipped in the spicy chunky sauce really hit the spot! It’s a good side to share with your friends! Best of all, the meal didn’t feel too heavy, so our workout definitely did not go completely to waste! Now it’s our casual post-gym spot and I recommend it! :) P. S. It’s B.Y.O.B. — Bring your own BOOZE!

I have found it! Growing up in California and Arizona I’m used to good, cheap and simple Mexican food. Pinche(a fun play on words for Mexicans) is exactly that! Amazing. I got the chilaquiles(with egg of course) and elote on the side. Really good and not terribly pricey. What it comes down to: if you need a quick Mexican fix if you’re homesick, hungover or really hungry. This is it.

This place still has great fish tacos. The fried tilapia makes them great. Too bad the tacos have shrunk, and at $ 4.50 a pop, to get a meal you need to spend about $ 16, double that of a Chipotle burrito.

Got the California Bean & Cheese Burrito, and it was exactly what I wanted: just beans & cheese. I grew up in Tucson, and ate a lot of delicious bean & cheese burritos there, and this is the closest to those that I’ve found in NYC. It’s all about the bean to cheese ratio, and these guys get it right. The tortilla could be a little better, but it’s above average for an NYC tortilla. The chips it came with were stale. I’ve also tried the fish taco, it’s pretty good too.

Burdened with work at home last night, I ordered through Seamless Web. Ordered the guacamole, chips, along with the two tacos with rice and beans entrée. The order was delivered super fast, very happy about that. The chips were a bit stale. The guacamole was green purée with some stringy pieces to it, and was flavorless. Those two were a waste. The two tacos I got was the steak and the chicken. They were both OK. They put the same horrible guacamole on them, so that made them worse. The rice was alright, but the beans were as if they were fresh, fresh out of a can that is. Disappointed overall. I will not order from them again.

Went here on a Thursday night, worried about not getting a table and it was completely empty — score. While we caught up with some friends who were in town we enjoyed tacos, tortilla soup, chips and more. The tortilla soup had more of a BBQ flavor than I’m used to but it was still good. The steak taco — *kisses air* — great! The staff was great in helping us order and the food was quick. Would definitely come back again!

I’ve been here two times already. Tried the chicken tacos & fish tacos. Decent priced tacos, most of them range from $ 2.95-$ 5.95. Tacos come with a salsa sauce and another green sauce(WHICHISREALLLLYSPICY) Literally almost made my tongue disappear… good for those that like spicy. Just a little on your taco will do, unless you can handle the heat. I usually call in and do a pickup. Friendly staff. No wait at all.

Ordered Thru Seamless web delivery(since stuck at work couldn’t leave). Ordered 3 tacos Pescado Carne Asada Shrimp. Everything plus delivery charge total was about $ 14.00 Food arrived in 20 minutes(WOW). Portions are small, but camarones were crispy and big size. Pescado is a big chunk but batter was a bit soggy, Carne asada was a tad dry. Maybe next time I’ll just go there and eat it fresh.

I have been to this place several times. Prices are moderate, but both time I have been disappointed not only with the food quality, but more importantly the people who there. I that both time they were rude and unhelpful, such that it didn’t seem like they care to have the business of the several people who have brought each time. I have certainly had better quality Mexican food at other places in NYC and will not waste my money in this place. Good luck if you do, but remember my post and don’t think that this is the best Mexican food you have had(it is not) and please do not think that the people there represent at all Mexican people’s manners.

Love Pinche, especially when doing take-out* from this location. + They take Amex + Taco Tuesday(buy 2 get 1 free) + Big portions + Delicioso yuca fries + Cheap prices + Happy hour *This location is WAY less popular than the one up the street on Lafayette. Thus it’s a quick turn around time for takeout, and there’s always a table available for dining in.

@PincheTaqueria has solid Mexican food in SoHo. The tacos are tasty and full of guac, while the tortilla soup is plenty spicy and filling. As a bonus, they give you an entire lime cut up into quarters. Don’t forget about their sauces you can add to your item– well worth it(and the very spicy isn’t that very spicy). The location itself is unpretentious, and it still lists one of its 2008 culinary victories on the wall. That’s to say, it’s a tiny place with about 10 seats. If it’s a cold night and you want to sit, you’ll be fine probably. Any other time, I’d think you’re in trouble. The menu is very extensive, so be quick to make up your mind, and don’t be afraid to try some of the Jarritos and Mexican Coca-Cola. They have some new drinks that are definitely worth trying, too(hot chocolate!). The bottom line: Pinche Taqueria is a good choice for typical Mexican offerings that will do in a pinch. It’s unpretentious, and it hits the spot.

My neighborhood tacos of choice — here’s why: FLAVORS — good flavors from the spices, especially the tomatillo and hot sauce(for free you can take as much as you’d like!) PRICE — Pinche is fair for NYC — $ 2.95 soft taco and $ 11 combos LOCATION — this spot seems to be highly delivery based, so go eat there! Not only is it faster than delivery, but it’s a nice little spot. Recommendations: Carnitas tacos Yucca fries Tomatillo sauce

The restaurant is super cute and I love the ambiance but I wasn’t that impressed with the food. I started with chips and salsa but both of the salsas offered are pretty bland. One is spicy but other than spice, it didn’t have much flavor. The other salsa wasn’t spicy and the texture was weird, kind of like a sweet and sour sauce in an Asian restaurant. I went with the vegetarian torta(sandwich) and requested it without cheese and mayonaise to make it vegan. It came vegan but it also came really bland. I asked if I could have some veggies on it since I wasn’t getting meat. They said that would be fine but the only veggies I saw were lettuce and tomato. It was supposed to come with guacamole but I couldn’t find it. There was a small dollop of what looked like green paste in one corner but 1) it didn’t look like guac, 2) there was a miniscule amount, and 3) I couldn’t even taste it! The menu said the torta is $ 7.50 but I was charged $ 8.50 for the«torta plate». I asked the cashier about this, wondering if the«torta plate» came with rice and beans or something. Her answer was totally unclear but she was saying the price was right so I figured I’d just wait for my «plate» to come. Well, the«plate» was just a torta. Basically, I was charged $ 8.50 for a sandwich with beans, lettuce, and tomato. Very glad that I was using a coupon so I didn’t really end up paying full price, but it was barely worth the $ 5 I did pay. Don’t think I’ll be back.

The place is small. Think single car garage. The back half is the kitchen, the front half is the dining area with cozy seating for up to 20 people. I can’t imagine 20 people fitting in the space. The food is alright. I ordered up a couple tacos and an order of yucca fries. I’ve heard so much about these fries. And I really wanted to like them. But I just didn’t. They tasted heavy(I think that was a oil from frying) and lacked flavor(were the potato’s seasoned first at all?). The tacos were better… I ordered(1) chicken and(1) pork. Both were served up with raw onions, cilantro and a scoop of guac. The chicken was a bit bland, the pork slightly dry. I wish both had been shredded as opposed to chopped. The highlight was definitely the guac. ScoutMob has an offering for 50% the other location(at Bleecker & Mulberry) so maybe I’ll give the quesadillas or taco salads(very popular the day I went) a try next week.

As the city suffers from an already subpar reputation for Mexican cuisine, fans of Cali-Mex are to sure to experience similar results at Pinche Taqueria. Regional Mexican-American cuisine done well is not such an easy find in New York — Cali-Mex is only marginally better than Southwest Mex which trumps the pitiful Tex-Mex options. It seems, no one replicates the style well enough to deem it the same as the land from which they originally had it. The question suddenly begs: Why hasn’t New York Mex been embraced as a regional sub-cuisine? Pinche Taqueria is practically its poster child. Prices here are nothing to balk at, which at $ 3 – 4 a taco feels pricey for those used to paying the street price. Thankfully the tacos are supplemented by really solid meats, which are typical in variety(al pastor, asada, carnitas, pollo asado, pescado, camerones, etc.) but are prepped well enough to be tasty. Some have noted the SoCal worthiness of their fish tacos, but most San Diegans will be able to spot the differences right away. I have fared well with their breakfast options, especially the $ 5 breakfast burrito. My favorite out of the usual(egg+whatever) options is the machaca(shredded beef) with eggs and potato wrapped in a light tortilla skin. While I might have sounded happy above, it’s safe to say not all is gravy. The rest of the menu is also somewhere in the middle at times, as their torta($ 7) was unbelievably bland and the tamale($ 6) is dray and overpriced, despite coming with beans and rice. Rolled tacos($ 7) are cute, but certainly not better than the regular tacos. An actual plus on the drink front is they serve horchata. I love horchata. Service has been just been adequate enough. I’m not getting waited on, it’s really just them taking my order and/or delivery, which like their food, has yielded some mixed results. This is what I’ve come to expect of Mexican food in Manhattan. In these parts, «inexpensive» anything that is under $ 10 and with it’s regionally inspired food, Pinche Taqueria fits the bill.

While on our way to have takoyaki, we passed Pinche Taqueria, on my list of places to have a fish taco at, and unable to pass up tacos, in we went. Tiny place with three bar seats by the window and a few wooden tables and stools. Order at the counter, chalkboard menu hanging above. Service got the work done but don’t expect much, very indifferent. Ordered taco de pescado(fish) and camaron(shrimp), both topped with plentiful shredded cabbage, diced onion, cilantro, and guacamole, on warmed, pliant tortillas. Topped with a generous squeeze of lime juice and a bit of vibrantly spicy green sauce from the counter, these were fresh, delicious, and a terrific combination. Fish and shrimp portions were generous, very lightly fried, fresh and perfectly cooked. Guacamole isn’t great, but it tastes fine in the taco. Will happily stop by anytime for those amazing seafood tacos.

Living with a CA boy for several years meant trying every single Mexican joint in the city until we found one worthy of his seal of approval. He insisted that this one on Mott St is better than the newer one next to the subway on Bleecker but damned if I could tell the pinche difference. I really love the fish tacos at this place. The fish is fresh and never«fishy» like you can get elsewhere, the sauce minimal, the veggies fresh and they always remember a bunch of lime wedges, which is key. The fish burrito, on the other hand, is serious business. It is about 4x the size of a fish taco and they’ll adjust the ratio of its contents if you ask. I liked it best sans rice. Both come with chips and salsa fresca(hot or not) and one made with tomatillos(I think). The jamaica tea is really good, when they have it, and I also liked the fresh juices they offered in the summer. Overall, this place is pinche good and you should go check it out.

Kickass, delicious and authentic mexican in Nolita– delivering far and wide. The Fresh tacos with perfect taco stand arrangements, enveloped in these fragrant corn tortillas. The spit fired pork is a star– though I prefer the shrimp and grilled chicken. I LOVE their tomatillo salsa and the HOT salsa. I could seriously drink the salsas. I think I may have… The burritos are GIANT, and even include their velvety guacamole and chips on the side. My shrimp burrito had about ten juicy shrimp inside. They also offer elote(corn rolled in deliciousness), yucca fries, salads and breakfast burritos of all sorts(to 4pm). And the hibiscus tea or fresh horchata is the perfect antidote to your overdose of the delicious hot sauce.

I don’t understand why this place was on Cheap Eats 2008. It’s anything but. Fish tacos are great. They are lightly battered with a generous helping of guacamole and other toppings. The pork has a hint of heat and the steak was decent. However, the taco itself is very weak and you can expect it to be very soggy and have everything fall out. Then you are left eating the mound of mush with a fork. You can add additional radishes for those who like to spice up their tacos a bit more. Yuca fries are way too fried. Horchata was good. One fish taco is $ 3.75. I need at least four or five tacos to fill me up. Not cheap. Other tacos run about $ 2.75. The only reason I would come back is that it’s probably the best Mexican taco place around but I would think twice due to the price.
