This is my boyfriend’s favorite restaurant(he’s quite a foodie so it’s a real compliment!), so I’ve been here a few times. Everything I’ve ordered has been delicious. I’d recommend the meat ravioli and the caesar salad in particular — both items are some of the best I’ve ever had. The restaurant is located just a few blocks from Grand Central, so it’s a great spot for dinner if you’re meeting someone who is commuting or works in the area. Note: this is an old-school Italian place — might not be for you if you’re looking for something hip and trendy.

Horrible! I don’t usually write Unilocal reviews but the food was awful, they seemed to forget about us during the meal, the bill was surprisingly/outrageously expensive AND after paying a HUGE bill they asked us to leave because they needed the table. And my sister is pregnant! Honestly there was nothing good to say!

My daughter and I were planning to go somewhere for dinner and I found this place on Unilocal. It was like walking into a little Italian neighborhood. We felt so comfortable. The service was great and very friendly. I had the chopped salad and it was just perfect with just the perfect flavor. My daughter had French onion soup and loved it. Food was prompt. The bread was delicious with pats of real butter. I had saltimbocca and my daughter had the spaghetti and meatballs. Wow! Portions are huge but we got tiramisu anyway and nothing was bad, only delightful. It’s near my daughter and when I come to visit I plan to go each time. We showed at 9:30 and the place was wall to wall and was a Thursday. I loved it!

This place is something special. Before I get to the food, just want to mention how great the ambiance is. So old school Italian, one of the true gems in NYC. Now for the food. Everything is amazing. I’ve been there probably about 20 times, and the only thing I consistently get is the Caesar salad. The best I’ve ever had — hands down. I know it’s not the most exciting thing on a menu but let me tell you it is perfect. I personally ask for no anchovies, as they make the salad a little to salty for my taste, others I’ve eaten with like them so to each their own. Other than that, my top three dishes are the ravioli, the veal parm and the steak. The veal parm is easily enough for two meals, and is downright phenomenal. This is my favorite restaurant in the world.

We’ve been here a couple(2 times?) more times since my last review. Thought I’d update with a clear statement: the food is BOMB here. It’s not pricey for what’s offered and presented. Their menu prices obviously fluctuate a lot, as they write in the $ numbers to the side of each dish. I had the shrimp marinara during our firm holiday lunch, along with my favorite– their cold seafood salad appetizer! Everything was perfectly cooked and the shrimp was TDF!!! Pasta comes out on the side, so just know that your dishes are just pecks of whatever protein you order on a bed of pasta like other places. Definitely a good go-to old school Italian restaurant in the area. Has a lot of regulars for a reason!

Terrible place! Bad attitude! Rude owner! We called couple hours ahead of time, a person said that we do not need reservations, if we come before 6 pm, we arrived at 5:15,just to be told, very rudely, that we cannot be served without reservations! Very bad attitude!

We were looking for an Italian restaurant, being from out of town, we read the reviews, decided to try it out, quite a disappointment! Very rude, owner was so unfriendly towards my wife, we walked out!! Found a nice Italian restaurant a block away!

I read some other reviews calling this restaurant an «old-school Italian restaurant», and they were so right! I felt like I was in the middle of a Godfather movie, and loved every minute of it. Let me start with the ambience… It feels like it’s never been updated since the 70s with Italian waiters mostly in their 50s and 60s. They have their broken English and their lovely Italian demeanor. Honestly, I liked the atmosphere. I liked that it wasn’t a new trendy Décor, because the feel of the restaurant fit their delicious food. Which brings me to their menu… They’ve got all your traditional Italian dishes covered. I went with lasagna but split the red snapper with friends. Both were absolutely delicious. We started the meal with oysters on the half shell, which again were perfect, and we also had calamari and mozzarella with tomatoes. At the end of the meal, they brought out biscotti, which hit the spot. Overall, I absolutely loved this place. I will definitely go back the next time I’m in New York.(And they also have valet parking, which is a huge plus.)

Old school Italian restaurant. You can walk by an easily not notice it. The flavor was dynamite. The caesar salad was a delish. The portions are generous. Solid food. A new décor would be fine, it seems dated. One of the best pastas in New York. The wine list isn´t very extensive, but the Napa Valley Pinot Noir was 48 and sensational. A classic.

Went here for New Year’s Eve dinner with 5 friends. Not good at all. No wine list? Wine by the glass? What’s up with that? We shared a few apps and they were okay; the shrimp was good and the crab meat was lump crab but I think it came from a can. The antipasto plate was small and just okay. I shared a chopped salad and ordered medium rare calves liver with bacon and onions. The salad was a basic salad so I don’t see what the fuss is. The liver portion was large but it was overcooked and burnt around the edges. Every piece. The bacon wasn’t drained and the sauteed onions had so much oil in them there was a pool of oil on my plate. I barely ate it and declined a doggie bag. I would never recommend this place especially at the high prices they charge. There are a million other Italian restaurants in NYC. Try some place else and don’t waste your money on Pietros Ristorante.

We came here on a date pre-radio city Christmas spectacular. My boyfriend had been here several times over the years with his grandparents and parents and remembered it to be delicious. 7 – 8 years later, he returned. Using his mother’s recommendations we decided to start the meal with a Caesar salad and two glasses of montepulciano di abruzo. Very generous pours and a delicious salad. Thank goodness we only ordered one salad. The portion was HUGE.(A general theme of the evening). As a fan of good spaghetti and meatballs, he went for them and I tried the well regarded spinach cannelloni(warning-takes a little longer to make, so plan accordingly). People were not exaggerating on the quality of these two dishes. Delicious. Well-made. Again, large portions. We had leftovers. The staff was positively sweet and it does have a very old school vibe. We didn’t see anyone else in their twenties. But I definitely wouldn’t say that was a bad thing. It was nice and quiet. Décor probably hasn’t changed in a long time.

My family and I had dinner here Friday night(12−05−14) and we left being satisfied but unfortunately not thrilled. This place could definitely use a make over, it’s very old looking and that makes the place a bit dull. The staff was friendly enough and were more than happy to go over the menu and specials with us. The food was definitely fresh and made to order which was great but overall I’d say it was just OKAY, nothing worth talking about. We enjoyed our night but in the future we will definitely try another place.

Came in for a late evening dinner after an evening of holiday shopping. It has an old school feel with a wait staff wearing formal attire. I had the lasagna special which was possibly the best I have ever had with a very large portion. My girlfriend got the chicken parm which was massive but also very very good. The servers were very friendly and attentive. With two entrees and total of three glasses in house wine between the two of us the bill came to $ 99 plus tip which i thought was a little pricey for what we had ordered but the food was very very good. Only steps from GCT on east 43rd street is also very convenient. My only negative comment is that the pricing is a little inconsistent and a little high for what you get.
