Could not have been more rude. Called at 5:02(they open at 5) and they said they weren’t open. Called back at 5:12 to place a takeout/pickup order and was told the kitchen was already too busy for a takeout order. They clearly lied and then made up other lies when I called them out. They then hung up on me. I called back and someone else answered and they also hung up on me. Interesting way to try to get customers. Will NEVER go back and neither should anyone reading this. So rude.

Incredible restaurant. Great food and atmosphere. Arrived at 5:15 for our 5:30 reservation and were sat promptly at the last remaining table reserved for us. This will now be one of our regular dinner spots.

We LOVE this restaurant. As soon as you walk in you just know this is the small, informal, friendly, neighborhood place you’ve been looking for — and it’s front-and-center West Village. Hello?! Then the menu shows up and it’s huge — plus a full page of specials. Then the food shows up and it’s awesome. Forgive the tight space, no bar and meh wine(charming in a flip stopper bottle but it draws the line at «wine»). Whatever you’re hungry for, if it’s Italian, this is where you want to eat! Big portions, excellent food, wonderful service. Go.

Most of the food was pretty good, but the wait staff were so disorganized and defensive that it soured our experience here. We were seated a half hour late for our reservation. They forgot 2 of our dishes and just birched about how someone else screwed up. The lobster in my pasta was rubbery. When I brought this up to our server(who avoided us to the point that I had to chase her down), I was told that no one else had complained and that she didn’t understand how it could be overbooked because it came pre-cooked. No apologies, no adjustments to the bill.

Really good. Friendly. Locals each here, you should too. Fettuccine pesto, tortellini Alfredo, chicken parmigian all delicious. We are currently having a heated discussion about selecting dessert.

This place has so much potential but misses in so many ways. Our party arrived at 5:00 for an early dinner reservation and was almost barked at when we got to the front door with a staff member saying«we are not open yet». We did ultimately get seated pretty much on time. The restaurant was very hot(temperature-wise) and that didn’t get rectified until much later in the meal. The service missed the mark insofar as it took nearly two hours to get through the meal before dessert. Salads arrived and we had to wait a LONG time for the traditional appetizers. It was hard to find our server because what few servers they had were all clustered in back of the small restaurant. My wife and I both got the Chilean Sea bass. The portions were radically different in size and had a strange taste to them. Others were underwhelmed with their food and one didn’t receive his side dish until he specifically asked for it. There are so many good Italian options in the area, hope this place can up its game. It’s a nice cozy Village spot but really needs to take stock of its service and food quality.

Good food but not good enough to make the terrible service bearable. The kitchen is too small for the number of tables and there are too few waiters. Our antipasti arrived 45 minutes after we sat down and our main 1.5 hours after seating. The server was unapologetic.

Absolute garbage here, we made reservations for 9:30 and weren’t seated until 10pm. They don’t treat patrons with respect, definitely our only visit.

As part of a birthday present to my girlfriend, I put together a list of 30 great dishes in NYC that we hadn’t already tried, with the goal of eating each one during her 30th birthday year. Piccolo Angolo’s Veal Parm was strongly recommended by a friend who lived in the neighborhood, and needing a couple more spots for my list, I added it. So, with that background, I can say that Piccolo Angolo is… fine. It’s a cute spot for the neighborhood, and it’s easy to understand how people who live(or once lived) nearby have such affection for it. That said, for anyone not from the West Village, it’s nothing more or less than a three-star Italian restaurant in NYC. The food was solid — a good salad, the aforementioned veal parm(which was good, but not on the same planet as Carbone’s), and lobster cannelloni in a tasty vodka sauce. A review earlier this year mentioned great garlic bread — that seems to be gone, as the bread offered was a sad roll with slightly cold butter packets. Appetizer prices are laughable — $ 20.50 for prosciutto and melon — which was a good thing for the first date next to us, as their incredulity over that price gave them something to talk about. Pasta and entrée prices are closer to normal, and a bottle of the drinkable house wine is $ 34. A salad, the two entrees and a bottle of house wine, tax and tip for $ 125. Bottom line: If you’re nearby, sure try it out. If you’re not, no need to go out of your way.

The best eggplant in NY! Great family atmosphere. Maria, Peter and Fernando are doing a great job. I wish I lived in the city so I can come here every weekend

Wow!!! Best meal of our nyc trip. Yes, we have been coming here for years. My brother, a new yorker, found this place 5 – 6 years ago, and we have been fans ever since. To start, the place is now run by Maria and Peter… the children of Renato. We can remember him sitting outside of the restaurant years ago, telling us that if we didn’t have reservations that we couldn’t get in. He made an amazing 5 cheese manicotti and was the heart and soul of this place. In the year and a half since his death, we have seen a few swings in the restaurant. Happily for us, the kids have gotten things back together and have made a place that would make their father very proud. Our Friday dinner was at 7pm and we were promptly seated. They have expanded their wine menu and we started with a great California red. Only negative was that bread is good, but they used to serve an amazing complimentary garlic bread. .not anymore.;( For appetizers, we ordered a couple of arugula salads, cacio e pepe pasta(cheese and pepper. .it’s great), and baked calamari. Pure food bliss. We devoured every morsel. Next, onto the entrées. Spaghetti and tennis ball sized meatballs, fettuccine alfredo, eggplant parmesan, rigatoni with tomato sauce, chicken sorrento, and chicken rollatini. With the chicken dishes, you can add a side of lobster cannelloni for $ 9…to die for!!! With more food than at thanksgiving dinner, we indulged, but took our leftovers to go for a treat the next day. We couldn’t pass up dessert. .you should not leave this world without trying their almond tiramisu. We splurged with 2 orders of their almond, on one regular. .and if they ever offer the sea salt caramel one again. .yum!!! We ate it all. Service is always attentive, and we love seeing our friend Fernando who always helps to take great care of us. As we rolled out the door, we thanked Maria and Peter. .this was the best meal we’d ever had there!!! Kudos! !! If only we lived closer..

Make reservations because this place is a hot one, but worth it! The food was authentic, and the service was great. I had the Chicken Francese and it was soooo delicious! I can’t wait until I go back for more! But the place is tight, and there isn’t really a hostess, so even with reservations, you have to wait a bit. But if you’re into Italian food, this place is worth it for sure.

Made reservations for Saturday night, one of the best Italian places so far I’ve eaten in a long time. Service was great, close atmosphere was cool. Maria the hostess was very friendly and made us feel right at home, very comfortable. We stayed till closing and was able to chat with the ever so funny chef Pete, who reminded us of Seth Rogan, lol. I went with the chicken marsala that was out of the world. Dessert was even a great hit with us. We will be back !!! Awesome

One of the best Italian restaurants in NYC — authentic Italian food. Not fancy like other restaurants — the seating is tight, it can get a bit noisy, but the atmosphere is nice and cozy. My boyfriend and I split the rigatoni vodka and chicken parmesan — both were delicious. I usually can’t finish my meal but I had no trouble here. We wanted dessert but were too full — will definitely go back again. Definitely recommend!

Now THIS is an authentic Italian restaurant. My friend and I took a chance coming here without a reservation but we were promptly seated. Yes, the seating is tight and it’s pretty loud but the food is oh so good. We shared the Chicken Florentine and the Lobster Cannelloni. The chicken was good but the cannelloni might be one of the best things I ever ate. Next time, I am getting a full portion for myself! We of course also got bread and a side salad. All the dishes came out split up for us, which is really helpful. We ended our meal with the chocolate royale, which was good but nothing memorable. Definitely make a reservation!

One word — FAMILY! Once discovered, you become apart of the family; it is home. Before you go out for the evening, you sit down, eat dinner with you family, right. You talk, laugh, share stories… and then you hug/kiss and say see you later! That is the experience here, with food that is just unequivocally Devine! Now the only part, you MUST, AND I REPEATMUST!!! make a reservation in advance. My family has accommodatied me many times before, but there are just too MANY nights where the tables are full, and the crowd is hanging outside of the door; they are jam packed booked. Of course, your family know’s what you like to eat. Well my Piccolo family knows too, before I even say a word, they jot it down on their lil memo pad, which is steamed mussells in white sauce, and the LOBSTERCANNELLONI. The Sea Bass, the Filet Mignon… delicioso! Desser: Tiramisu(don’t think twice, order it); the Reese’s Pieces ice cream chocolate ball(so rich, so big, we couldn’t even finish it all)…you would have to have a bottomless stomach, in order to eat all this food. I can’t say anything bad, I only wish they would expand the restaurant. I’m getting hungry now just thinking about the food: salivating: The atmosphere is dimly lit, cramped, but the owners and waiters are extremely down to earth. The patrons that frequent the restaurant, range in all walks of life(working-class, models, actors, writers, bankers, lawyers, doctors, real estate tycoons); but what we all have one thing in common — bellies looking for sustenance. And we all ended up at the same place. You owe yourself this treat. Just a note* They do take-out, but only if they aren’t jammed up.

One of my best finds!!! If you’re craving some home style Italian food, you need to try this place. I can’t remember the last time a grandma was serving me at a restaurant. She was so sweet! The staff here is basically family(probably literally). They treat their customers like family as well. You can tell they have lots of regulars. You get a basket of bread but it’s not your average basket of bread. They give you fresh garlic bread. As if they’re grinding the garlic and butter in the kitchen right before you sat down. No shame in saying I asked for seconds… I ordered the linguine with meatballs. It comes with two HUGE meatballs the size of my hand. I could only finish half of one. You can really taste all the fresh herbs they use. The tomato sauce was phenomenal. I’m all about the strong tastes, so for a classic dish, they nailed it! Total bill for two was about $ 100

This was one of the best Italian meals I’ve ever had. Piccolo Angela is a «local,» authentic Italian restaurant in the West Village. My suggestion, get out of the heart of the City and enjoy this cozy spot. We had the Lobster Cenelloni and the Chicken Florentine. Both dishes bubbling hot and almost too beautiful to interfere with. The service was excellent and the ambiance was fantastic

we stumbled upon this place after considering a few«fancy» italian spots in meatpacking and i’m so glad we ended up here. it immediately reminded me of the north end of Boston which i absolutely love. as many other reviews mention there service here is, interesting. it is definitely family owned with their own way of doing things. do you have to ask multiple times for things — yep for sure. does the food take a while to come out– yep for sure. it is crowded and pretty darn loud — yep for sure. but given the really tasty food, large portions, and reasonable prices i think it is absolutely worth it! for just over $ 50 pp(across 4 people) we had a couple bottles of wine, massive meatballs to start, followed by veal ossobuco, vension rack, seafood fra diavlo with sides of salad and lobster canneloni, and finally an ameretto tirimisu. YUM. i didnt try to the venison but everything else was really hearty and delicious. thanks maria and chef pete for a delicious meal!
