r.i.p. :(Before they burned down, they had been my go-to pizza spot ever since I was but a wee thing. My friends and I all had birthday parties here, and it was always the spot to meet up to split an order of garlic knots even once I was too old and«too cool» to be seen at such a family-friendly joint. The guys there were great and I sincerely hope that they’re able to get back up and running in the near future.

After 3 coffees and hardly any food for the entire day, I decided at 9:30pm that it was time for me to get a bit to eat. The East Village/Union Square area doesn’t have many good corner pizza options, so when I passed this pizzeria I didn’t have my hopes up. But once I went in, and saw the pies behind the display, I could tell the pizza was good. My slice came out of the oven nice and hot — just the way I liked it. They guys behind the counter were very friendly too. and I loved that they asked me «Do you want this for here, to go, or to eat on the way»… I NEVER get asked if I want to eat my slice on the way. but that’s how I usually eat my slices so I was glad that they asked. This is now one of my favorite pizzerias in NYC. but not my ultimate favorite.

The name is ridiculous. I should have known by that alone, but I ordered from them to try a new slice in the area. I was heavily disappointed in the pie. The toppings were pretty fresh, but the pie was undercooked. I had to put it back in my oven, which discounts their delivery time(which was incredibly fast). Once I put it back in the oven it was tasty. I won’t order from them again, no matter how cheap they were(and they were).

4.5! Delicious!!! Now I don’t live in NYC or NJ(anymore) but my fiancé’s brothers, who grew up in alphabet city, grew up eating this pizza for over 15 years and love it… I know why now. The sauce, the sauce… it was delicious, little tart and little sweet with a deep flavor, none of that watery stuff. The crust was delicious as well while being slightly chewy and crispy. I could go for another slice right about now, but I am already in NJ… next time ;)

Man, what a find on 14th street! His white pie is SOOO addictive that my friend and I kept going back for another slice to split. OHMAN! She’s convinced that he’s putting crack in his crust. Don’t wait on that ludicrously long line of lemmings trickling into the gutter at Artichoke up the street. Come to Pete’s A Place instead. You won’t regret it!

It’s really hard to find good pizza in the East Village. Have tried numerous places over the past 3 years to no avail. Had Pete’s yesterday. Have to say the cheese and mushroom was good. The sauce actually has flavor to it! A welcome surprise — will definitely order from here again!

I grew up on this pizza since I’ve lived on Avenue A my entire life, so maybe I’m biased when I give it 4 stars and not 3*. However, the guys behind the counter are so friendly and genuinely seem interested in speaking with you while you wait for your pizza. The pizza is good — nothing to write home about like the all«high and mighty» Artichoke Pizzeria a block away(that’s sarcasm, my friends) — but always a great standby. Basically your average good neighborhood pizza. *Pete’s A Place had the honor of being one of my favorite places to prank when I was 13. I’d order a pie with my best friend and send it to the building across the street, watching the delivery guy from my living room window try to deliver the pizza. Maybe that’s why I am giving them an extra star? Disclaimer: I was 13. Love you guys!

Really didn’t expect much from this place given its pun-gent name and unimpressive location(on 14th street in a blech stretch b/w Ave A and B). The place is much roomier than nearby Muzzerella. The Sicilian is my favorite slice here if it’s fresh. Nice crisp crust. The standard cheese slice wasn’t as good but a little better than Manhattan average. The Grandma slice(thin square tomato and garlic) — normally my fave — was just so-so. Liked the crust but not enough garlic and the tomato sauce was a little ketchuppy(too much sugar?). So this place is a worthy alternative to Muzzerella for a quick slice but not in the ballpark of Vinny Vincenz on 1st Ave. or Artichoke b/w 1st and 2nd Ave.

Surprisingly good! We took a chance because it was so close to home, and it’s one of the better pizzas we’ve had in NYC. Thin, crispy crust, good sauce, good cheese. Satisfied with the spaghetti and meatballs, marinara sauce is on the sweet side. Don’t bother with a salad. Pretty reasonable prices, and they have lunch specials for students.

Aside from the horrible pun, there’s not much to say. It’s pizza. Very edible, cheap, pizza that probably only very hungry Stuy Town residents eat.
