This is a great place to host a large group dinner party. I called a week beforehand to secure seats for 20 people and they accepted right away. There’s no additional charges, no deposit, no minimum spending! They are very flexible as well regarding dishes and time. What a breeze compared to all other restaurants bombarding you with rules and regulations. Dinner is served family style in a semi private area. For 20 people we have two around tables, each accommodating 10. Food here is authentic and delicious. My guests love their speedy service and great food. I especially enjoyed the Peking duck wrap and yang chow fried rice. It’s so hard to put down after one bite. The owner showed up and greeted us warmly. He even gave us a complimentary bottle of Pinot wine. Wow, I’m really impressed by his generosity. Our dinner went well and we had a great time. Thank you for hosting us!

Their Peking duck is always excellent. Prefer the midtown restaurant over their Chinatown spot. One of my favorite dishes is their a crispy beef, a must order. Also suggest getting Chinese broccoli, yeung chow fried rice and the lobster scallion dishes.

I feel lucky to live just a few blocks from the Peking Duck House. I eat here often because it is the best Chinese of it’s style food in midtown(maybe in NY). I love the generous sized table and the miles of space in-between them, which makes for a very enjoyable dining experience. Of course the duck is top-notch, but the crispy orange beef is the best I’ve had anywhere.

Worst dining experience ever. They didn’t even let us finish the whole duck. It tasted like they just gave us the skin and the scraps of the duck, and threw away the rest of it with meat still on. The chef or whoever cut and served the duck didn’t even seem interested in working there. And It would’ve been better if I cooked a duck myself and ate it, because I pretty much paid for a snack. Not worthwhile.

Best duck ever! although the pancakes were a little thick it was delicious. We tried the duck and the noodles. Be careful though, they only have full size duck so I suggest you go hungry!

*********HONESTABEREVIEW************* I went to PDH(peking duck house) with 8 others yesterday evening for a birthday celebration. The restaurant was nice with modern décor save the old shhttannky rug. We knew that the PEKING duck was going to be the bees KNEES so we browsed for other dishes. We ordered the following courses… –Steamed chicken dumplings, pork dumplings, and fried pork dumplings –chicken orange –filet mignon dish –shredded garlic chicken –2 x PEKINGDUCK Dumplings were FAT and delicious. HIGHLY recommend the chicken orange, it was so sweet, crispy, and tender. Filet dish was good, JUST good, and was a small portion as expected so keep that in mind when ordering for a large group. Shredded garlic chicken was great, spicy and super fresh as if they killed the chicken in the back of the restaurant. I would not put this past them because the PEKINGDUCK, LAWD have MERCY on my soul, un-f****king believable. Tasted like they roasted that sucker ALIVE(haha AJ) it was so melt in your mouth delicious. The skin was crispy, the meat was oozing with JUICES and I was 1! 2! 3! DOWNFORTHECOUNT. The chef slicing the duck was a pro. We tried to speculate how many ducks he’s sliced up but we decided the number was unquantifiable(LOLNICK). Shout out to my birthday boys Josh and Cameron for turning 23 this past week, and celebrating it with some butterball PeKiNg dUcK. Let’s just say, if your in midtown east, or anywhere near TUDOR f****king city, get to PDH for a bird that will change your life.

I am sure their food is wonderful. But parents of little ones be alerted-they don’t provide high chairs. I was very surprised to find out this and the timing was also very awful — we had to go look for another restaurant in pouring rain. The store manager showed me the only help they could provide was a seat booster-totally strange as they are listed as kids friendly restaurant!

All waiters can not laugh, They must think they are god!!! One of waiter even have beared! My god! From waiters to boss, Do u know what means clean?!! The duck is not authentic, I do not mean the duck, the duck is so so, I can only say not bad. I mean the pancakes for roast duck, I guess they buy it directly from supermarket in the tacos counter. The taste of sauce is not authentic too, This is not key point. All people must know, you pay 50+ to buy a roast duck, but the waiter will not notice you that the duck bone is yours, and you could tell them to cook soup(+3 used) or take back home. yes!The waiter will not tell you except you ask them. Special to those Caucasian customers. I would go to this restaurant again, never!

On my millionth visit to NY, I finally got to try this place. Granted I only found out about it two trips ago, I was excited to try and was very delighted at the outcome. I love peking duck so a place that specializes it should be everywhere. Why isn’t there one in LA??? Although I was looking forward to the bun, that they don’t serve, the tortilla version was just as tasty. Only thing I had a problem with was that they didn’t let me know the duck arrived and started cutting it up before I could get a good photo. And they took the bird away after barely shaving off the obvious meat. They also took away the green onions and cucumbers. Of course being the greedy piglet, I asked for it back. Their other dishes were also yummy. I can’t wait to go back!

Pro: –AMAZING duck. Best duck i’ve had anywhere outside of Beijing and rivals Vancouver Canada quality. –Good service. clean, efficient, i don’t except a michelin star experience here so not a problem Con: — A touch expensive. $ 55 or so for a duck is expensive, but it’s worth it for the food quality We had 12 bottles of wine with a table of 9. corkage was $ 10 per bottle, but a few off bottles they didn’t charge for. We got 3 ducks and ended up with a big plate of duck leg and bones. Pro Tip: REQUEST that they give you the rest of the duck. there are lots of meat on the bone and the legs are delish with the sauce! Great place. can’t wait to come back.

We come here often from The Bronx. There is nowhere in NYC to get the same quality of food as these folks turn out consistently. The staff is always friendly(even the very serious duck carvers). The Generals Chicken is not gooey like you find in most places and the Crispy Orange Beef is incredible. Of course we love the duck, but sometimes we prefer the Moo Shoo pork for that course instead. I would say that this restaurant is a must try, but know that it is pricier than most Chinese places. However you get what you pay for and this is definitely one of the guilty pleasures my family enjoys.

I enjoyed the food at Peking Duck. Will admit the food was above average. However won’t be going back again… And I’ll explain why. A few months ago my wife and I ate at the Peking Duck House on Motts Street in Chinatown and enjoyed the experience. Thought for Chinese food it was a little pricey however not too extreme for Manhattan and left happy! Being that we enjoyed our diner on Motts Street we learned they have a location in Midtown on 53rd street(just 5 blocks from our Apt). We went and dined. We looked through the menu items(very similar the other Motts location). However one thing stood out dramatically. THEPRICES! Now I will be the first to admit high prices don’t usually scare me away from a restaurant, however these seemed to be a lot higher than our previous experience on Motts St. We had dinner, paid and left without a fuss. But later that night when I got home I compared the two menus and I was totally right — basically the entire menus were the same with $ 15+ increases on many items. I don’t mind different pricing, however this really left a bad taste in my mouth and almost felt like a slap in my face as a native New Yorker. Yes, rents are high I am sure but don’t treat your patrons like dummies that wont see or say anything about the greedy up charges. Hopefully one day you will come back to earth with your prices. I think you’d have more loyal customers in the long run.

I usually go to the china town location for a duck gathering. Tonight was the first time at this location and WOW!!! It’s a huge price difference !! BYOB is not free here but comes with a $ 15 corkage/bottle. The price here is also much higher, some dishes almost doubled compared to the Mott street location. In our case the staff was also extra attentive and wrapped it for us. But honestly I much rather wrapping it ourselves. That’s part of the fun of enjoying Peking duck. Overall the ambience is nice and service was friendly. It’s just the 40−50% price increase + corkage fee that will deter me from returning.

Probably the one of the worst dining experiences in Manhattan. We went there on a Saturday lunch time. The entire restaurant was really empty and we were seated at the table which right next to the kitchen… We kindly asked the waiter to switch to the round table so we can eat without the noise and smell from the kitchen. The guy told us those tables were reserved. Peking duck wrap was okay and service was so not attentive. As we expected, after 2PM, no one has shown up for the«reserved» tables… Definitely not recommend this restaurant and won’t be back again.

Had our Thanksgiving dinner here as our first choice(steak) was not available. No regrets at all. This place was packed but they managed to place us at what I thought was the best seat in the house — at the front table next to the window. This was more of like a private room as there was another party of about 8. We were 5. Our Server was very accommodating and thoughtful and took his time to educate us on the menu and selection. It was obvious we wanted duck. He made suggestions that were fitting to our needs and appetite. Although we had other appetizers and side dishes, my review will be on the main dish. We had their famous Peking duck which was served with a small rice roll and house sauce(hoisin) and scallions. I have to admit, I’ve had some darn good Peking duck many times but theirs takes the cake. The duck was brought out whole on a platter by another staff/cook who prepared the duck slicing the meat thinly until nothing was left. The meat was cooked perfectly and was very juicy. It was soft and tender and flavored well. The skin was thin and crispy as it should be and not fatty. This is Peking duck. The duck was paired with a nice white wine enhancing the duck meat even more. We had the right amount of food thanks to our Server who could easily have scammed us into over ordering. The atmosphere can be a bit loud, but in my opinion, that’s a sign of everyone having a good time and enjoying their food. I highly recommend this place.

This place is definitely worth paying the visit! Contrary to the popular belief that bad service is inherent within Chinese restaurants, this place gets a five star in my book if I were rating on services alone. If you are one of those people who think it is awfully wrong that New York Athletic Club lets beautiful young women wait on their customers, you would find this place more than charming! All the waiters look experienced in the restaurant sector, they are all well dressed and speak fluent English — something you might not be able to find in Chinatown(except maybe in their Chinatown location). Being from Beijing, I can say for sure this place definitely won’t stand out against its Chinese competitors — there is too much fat underneath the duck skin, the pancakes and duck slices aren’t thin enough, the cucumbers you use are sliced thicker than you normally would encounter in a Beijing shop. HOWEVER, this was by far the authentic duck I’ve had in the US. DUCK: The duck was served how you would expect it to be served in Beijing — the chef comes out and carves it right in front of you and plates them slice by slice. The duck we ordered came out as an entire plate of meat. I read about how they don’t offer to make a dish with the remaining duck anymore, and I’m not a talented soup maker like my mom, so we asked for the duck legs. The waiter later brought us another plate of carvings — mostly bones and legs. I was very happy. EGGPLANT: The eggplant in garlic sauce was not nearly as good as I had anticipated and looked different from what I had seen in pictures… YOLO TL;DR: Worth the try. Ask for duck legs for extra meat. Stay away from the eggplant dish — too greasy. Warning: if you’re a party of two, don’t order more than the duck and two bowls of soup or something small. We definitely had lots of leftovers(not complaining)!

Came here on Christmas and had stellar service. Our waiter was great and the food was amazing. We had a party of 7 and seriously the service was impeccable. We brought our own champagne and the wait staff brought buckets of ice and served us our Moët. They also cut up our duck and were so happy to treat us well on the holiday. I would me more than happy to recommend this place to everyone!

A very solid 4 stars. Overall: The duck is good(we’ve had better duck in our lifetime) but this is a place that I wouldn’t hesitate recommending if you’re having a hankering for duck. As a plus, the service was stellar; all the waiters were kind and attentive and our water cups were never empty. The long story: Went on a Thursday night around 7PM and the two of us were seated immediately(place wasn’t very crowded). We knew about the Peking Duck House in Chinatown, but went to the Midtown location since Unilocalers said it drew less of a crowd. Food: Ordered the Peking Duck and Sauted Chinese Vegetable(we asked what this vague, generic vegetable was and at least for that night it was Chinese broccoli) Peking Duck: the ‘chef’ comes out and carves the duck in front of you(like the other reviewers say, they leave a lot of meat on the bird when they take it away =(but what can you do). The duck is served with a hoisin sauce, a bowl of green onions and cucumbers, and wraps(not bao). The servers actually make the wraps for you and they offer to make every wrap for you(we saw one table taking advantage of this), but we enjoyed making our own and playing with the proportions. The duck skin was crispy and fatty but the meat on its own wasn’t anything special or spectacular — but through the magical power of synergy the resulting wraps with all the fixin’s did end up being pretty delicious and the whole thing was more than enough to satiate two people. Sauteed Chinese broccoli: it was… sautéed Chinese broccoli. Though it came with lots of garlic chunks it was bland and extremely oily. Definitely not worth the 20 $ price tag.
