My fiancé and I came here because we were itching to eat some Iberico Jamon after returning from our trip to Spain(travelled around Andalusia). Pata Negra’s pata negra(Jamon from pigs that we’re only fed acorns) satisfied our cravings. Side note: I would not order the serrano– it’s like paying $ 15 for prosciutto. Go for the Jamon Iberico or/and Pata negra which are more exp but worth it! While I am not surprised at the price of the Jamon($ 45) since only one supplier is allowed to import this stuff to the US, I am surprised at the prices of the drinks and other tapas. Tapas were pricey! I guess this is a place that we will tabled in as a «once in a blue moon visit» for when we need that Jamon fix and are unable fly back to Spain to smuggle these babies in(they only cost 5 euros per pack at the butcher shop)…jk about the smuggling… or maybe not Service here is also really attentive and nice.

I came here with 2 other friends and we ended up leaving at 2:00am drunk on sangria and their amazing tapas! Every dish that was brought was a burst of undescribable flavor. Waiting for a table could be a wait sometimes but it is so worth it!

I can’t say enough great things about this place! I’ve lived in the East Village for almost 4 years so I’ve visited pretty much everywhere in the neighborhood. Pata Negra is one of my top spots! They have amazing food/drinks and a great, cozy atmosphere. However those aren’t even the best things about this place, it’s the staff. I went into Pata Negra after work this week with some friends and our wonderful server Matteo took the best care of us. He hooked us up with amazing wine, gave great food recommendations(the shrimp) and was very accommodating. This place has a laid back European vibe. they don’t rush you if you’re sitting around chatting and sipping on wine. Definitely check Pata Negra out! Also I hear they are adding a happy hour to the menu in the next few weeks which will just be another bonus!

The best! Mateo will treat you like royalty. Coming back every chance I get! The white wines were delish. Get the tortilla! You won’t regret it. Super cozy small inside but not cramped at all. Love it!

Considering there are many other tapas options in area this place overall is just OK, nice atmosphere, but just read there website pretentiousness after being there and know it is all true with«there rules». after we were seated for reservation and received our drinks we were told since small space we will be asked to move so more people can sit at our table when they get crowded… while place is small is was relatively empty at 7:30 and several empty tables…@8 a couple came in that they wanted to seat then at same table we were at and asked us to move down, while there with still several empty tables in restaurant and only when the people said would go somewhere else did they agree to put them at an empty table but that if got big parties we would all have to move… needless to say the place stayed half empty/full all night so never had share table but the one other time 2 other people came in the waitress did tell us we may need to move soon… you know, want to help a guy out but after awhile enough is enough. Food goes from just ok, to a couple dishes were excellent. Quality of meat and cheese platter is definately high and so is the price. Octopus was tasty but tough, shrimp was excellent, the special tapas and meatballs were just ok. All portions definately on small side. Food comes out slow and in batches, you see same items going to different tables at same time so service is slow, small kitchen, limited staff, so just can not imagine what like when busy… and as there website says they request you do not stay any longer then 2 hours, which seems to not be realistic based on how fast the food came out tonight.

Cute tapas place with above average food, friendly staff, and cozy atmosphere. The place is small(maybe room for 20 – 30) on a crowded block but once in side, the large high top tables and authentic food make you forget about the craziness of New York. The owner is very friendly and seemingly always on site. The wait staff is very accommodating and always willing to share appreciated recommendations. Most importantly, the food was superbly fresh, not to complex, and delicious. We had the shrimp in garlic(with a nice olive oil and paprika spice), grilled octopus, fresh asparagus and a tasty beer called Sagra. Definitely recommend it all, although octopus would’ve been more interesting in a different sauce. Will definitely be back.

Pata negra exceeded all our expectations — and we were expecting good stuff! I will preface this by saying we weren’t starving, so the small portions didn’t bother us. First of all the staff was incredible. Friendly, helpful, attentive and knowledgable. The ambience was lovely, I counted 25 seats, and yet didn’t feel crowded. And we didn’t even need reservations! The main event was the food though. We were going to buy the entry level jamon dish, but our waitress recommended the next level up and it was our favorite dish we had. Unique and incredible! The tortilla was rich, delicate and a sizable portion for the price, and the duck terrine didn’t disappoint either. Finally, our cheese course was off menu, and suggested by the waitress, and was just the right combination of stinky, creamy, sharp and almost spreadable. Even with so many amazing options to choose from in the East Village, I would go back in a heartbeat.

My boyfriend and I decided on getting the Extremadura($ 35) which comes with chorizo, salchichón, lomo Ibérico, jamón ibérico, & manchego. Oh man did the Extremadura not disappoint. Delicious! It came with toasted bread which you’re supposed to dip in olive oil and sprinkle with salt. I don’t know what’s in the salt but it’s not just your average sea salt — it’s like crack I swear. I would’ve licked the salt off the plate if doing so wasn’t considered socially unacceptable. A small tomato is also provided that you can use to rub onto the bread. I liked stacking one slice of every different meat and a hefty chunk of cheese on my toast. Not too much food but I was definitely digging the grown up lunchables vibe. Well worth $ 35. I think what made my experience particularly enjoyable was the great service. Our waitress was bubbly, accommodating and really funny. She also gave us great dessert recommendations for afterwards. Side note: Get the«Salty Pimp» ice cream from the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop on 7th! It’s a great way to finish off your meal.

Great little restaurant. It was dead when we went in on Sunday of labour day weekend at 7pm but that didn’t detract from the experience at all — I can imagine it being really nice when it’s full. My friend and I shared 4 plates and they were all really good. They had a special on of duck rilettes which was my favourite. Would go back.

this is an awesome little tapas place, came here craving some jamon iberico during happy hour. They had 4 types of jamon: serrano, iberico, mangalica and pata negra. I came for the iberico, but our waitress couldnt stop talking about the Mangalica jamon, which is a pig which looks like a sheep raised in hungary. I was sold at pigsheep. The Mangalica jamon was absolutely fantastic: it was oily, fatty, felt great in my fingers, smelled like heaven and most of all, tasted incredible. I liked this much more than the iberico, and next time ill try the pata negra. One main thing about the Mangalica is that it is raised on cereal grains which is unlike the grass and acorn-fed iberico, but I couldn’t notice the difference. The service was great, very knowledgeable about the meats and gave us great background and details on all the varieties they had, even checking with their«jamon representative» to get more of the backstory on the unicorn-like pigsheep. The happy hour specials are pretty good too, 3 $ for estrella and 5 $ house reds and whites, and the house red was surprisngly tasty as well. Only giving it four stars since we didnt try any of the tapas plates, but when I go back and try these out, I’ll update the review. Definitely a place to check out.

Sorry to say that the service has gone dramatically downhill here. We’ve been eating here for the past several years and always been so pleased with it for the good food, and warm and cozy ambience created by our friendly servers. However it looks like something has changed — service was brusque, the food came out slowly and in a strange order(jamon long after the hot tapas) and they got our bill wrong. Lastly, the food was not as good as before –in particular the dates wrapped in ham; the dates were very small and the ham was overly cooked. Very disappointed to see Pata Negra go down like this! I miss the old version.

Loved this place! We arrived pretty late from a Fuerza Bruta show and they were so nice to let us order since kitchen was closing soon. Date: 7÷10÷15 Number of people: 3 There was not one thing on the menu that we did not like. Everything was so delicious! My friend had the Sangria and he said it was great. We ordered the Monte enebro, Jamon Iberico, Gambas con ajillo, Octopus, Ceviche, and Strawberry Tres Leches. And the service was great! Recommended: All of it!

Came here with a few friends last night. I gotta say that the thing that makes this place is the wait staff. There’s only one server as the space is quite small but she was just so friendly and pleasant that we couldn’t help but be happy. She gave us excellent wine recommendations and food choices. The have a 2 liter pitcher of sangria here that’s pretty delicious. The chorizo was on point. The duck salad was a little salty but also pretty good. The octopus was tasty and tender. The cheese that we had was awesome and came with a delicious jam. This place is a little pricier than I would normally pay but for a special occasion this is the spot to be. Definitely plan on coming here again for my next intimate gathering or date.
