I really liked this place and thought they deserved the five stars. I was greeted by a warm and friendly woman(I can’t remember her name) and she helped me pick out some beautiful Thank You cards I wanted to send to some friends of our family. I’m not a card person myself, but everyone who I sent them too is and they were all delighted by the cards I sent. These are not 99-cent cards but rather, little crafted works of art. They also have lots of little gifts too. I work in the neighborhood and will definitely be going back. Even though the place had a few people in it, she managed to keep everyone engaged while assisting us and I can’t tell you how important that is to me. It reminds me of the reason why I prefer to shop in a locally owned business and not a chain store. Chain stores are for huge boxes of cat litter and 50-roll count of paper towels. This place is for when you want to send or give someone something thoughtful, pretty and heartwarming. **UPDATE** I have since gone back to this store and still 5-star service.

Just like all the other Papyrus stores, this one carries a lot of witty cards that are expertly made. Came in here to find some birthday cards for a few friends and was not disappointed!

Papyrus is an oasis for Finlay approved stationary, card, wrapping paper, journals and accessories! This particular location is my favorite. Quick fun fact, this location actually used to be my go-to deli back in the day when I was attending York Prep. That aside, I’m amazed how this is location has been transformed into a go-to place for stationary and greeting cards! Each wall is divided up into different categories of cards. Some shelves actually have Buy 3 Get 1 Free deals. Which is pretty great! At times you can even fill out a survey with the link on your receipt to receive 20% off your next purchase by answering three simple questions. In the front of the store there are tables filled with cards, stationary and paper on sale along with other items like lemon-mint candles, diffusers, frames and books — with the majority of these items being anywhere from 10%-20% off. Towards the back, there is a section for wrapping paper and gift bags along with a few books and gorgeous journals. By the cashier, there are little trinkets, jewelry, scarves and necklaces! There is always someone nearby to help and this location is pretty classy. The choices and possibilities are endless here. This is easily one of my favorite Papyrus locations.

Greeting cards are notoriously cheesy, sure. They have these lovely messages whose ink immediately detaches you from the sentiment directly. It’s a hard thing to do right. Stars 2 and 3 are for the corporate success of the store that stocks the shelves with clever messages and 30% off signs. But the staff in this particular store are rude and cold, ensuring I’ll skip the card entirely next time if going here is my only choice. I don’t need a hug, but don’t be a deck.

Internal monologue: I should review my trip to Papyrus. But why? Nothing interesting happened there. It was neither excellent nor terrible. Everything must be reviewed on Unilocal! Ooh and look, no one has reviewed the one on Columbus yet! I’ll be first! I’m a dork. I went to Papyrus to find a blank card in which to send a few photos. They didn’t have any cards specifically for photo mailing and only had two blank cards big enough to fit my 5×7 photos. So that part was eh. But they do have pretty and unique cards and paper. The prices are pretty astronomical but the receiver of your card will know you didn’t get it at Duane Reade. If that’s important to you, the prices will be worth it.
