This tiny and quaint spot opened up near my work not too long ago. It’s very easy to walk past because it is so small, however what will stop you in your tracks is the amazing aroma that wafts from this tiny little storefront. I think that’s what first intrigued me into trying this restaurant. I followed my nose to Papa Poule and I ordered my first lunch special and have been hooked ever since. I really love the chicken sandwich and the lunch specials also include a side and home made oreo. The food here is fresh, and the staff is super personable. The only thing is that this is more of a café and there isn’t any seating. There is a bench outside, but that’s only good for during warm weather. I really enjoy the chicken sandwich, which you can get with or without the lunch special. The sides are decent although I’m usually quite full after the sandwich or rotisserie chicken… but I also don’t have a huge appetite during lunch. Overall I really enjoy the food here, very fresh and great tasting, especially if you are looking for good chicken!

I work down the street from Papa Poule and I’ve eaten lunch here maybe 15 times since it opened. I almost always eat the club sandwich, but I’ve never tried the rotisserie chicken. The best I can say about this place is that its food is uneven and doesn’t match its excellent sister restaurant Maman on the other side of the block. The quality of the food here varies by the day. Sometimes the sandwich tastes fresh and delicious. Other times, the greens are brown and wilted, the bun is wilted and the sandwich is mealy and flavorless. Recently, the sandwich quality has declined a lot. I kept returning because it’s so convenient, and I really wanted to give this place a shot. I’ve given it more than its fair shake, and after 15 or so visits, I’m throwing in the towel on Papa Poule.

At first I thought how good can rotisserie chicken be? Then I came here and the chicken was divine. It was very moist and the meat was tender. The seasonings were also spot on. One of my top choices for a quick and tasty bite to eat

I have had their food a few times. This last time they had made a mistake on my order and were super great about fixing it. I would recommend sticking to the roasted chicken and the sides. Sandwiches and Salads were not as amazing. Great place all around though.

Well, I am not really sure why this place doesn’t have more reviews because it is amazing. I honestly enjoyed it even more than Maman, which is the trendy little French bakery owned by the same dude. This place is all about to-go rotisserie chicken along with a side or two and a sauce, and it is honestly some of the better rotisserie chicken I have had in NYC. The chicken here is heavy on the herbs and it is extremely moist. This is the only protein they serve and they truly do it well. When it comes to to-go rotisserie chicken it is pretty hard to do better. The only place you can find comparable rotisserie chicken is in more pricey, sit-down restaurants such as Rotisserie Georgette. The brussel sprouts here are the way I happen to like them: not oily or buttery at all and with a nice covering of onions. If you want something more decadent rather than healthy you might want to go with the potatoes. As for sauce, I got the house made BBQ and it was legit. Next time I come I think I am going to go to Sweet Green a few blocks up, get a salad, and then come here and put this stuff on top.

Papa Poule is a French rotisserie take-out and delivery. Don’t expect to sit inside as all you can do is order your food and head out. I recommend you order the special of the day and go find a spot on Lafayette to hang out. The Papa Club is so perfect. It comes with rotisserie chicken, kale, tomato confit, avocado, prosciutto chip, pepper aioli, savora mustard sauce on Maman’s homemade sesame brioche. And, make sure to order the potato salad!

I’ve eaten here a lot — so I think it’s fair that I left a review. The sides are always great… except for the Tian and the potato salad — just not my thing and I tried them a few times just to make sure. But everything else is delicious. Chimichurri sauce is mostly Pesto. So that’s a «not» as well. But you can also pay for one side and they will give you half and half which is really nice. Everyone is friendly and the place gets crowded around lunch. So go before 12 or after 1:30. Good job guys!

Grabbed a full rotisserie chicken, cole slaw, and roasted potatoes last night — with red pepper aioli and chimichurri sauces. Everything was amazing and their chimichurri was the best I have ever tasted. I love the whole concept of Papa Poule and of Maman. Fresh ingredients + simple recipes = amazing food! The two men who were working were the friendliest and I will definitely return.

I had the chicken pita. It tasted and looked like gruel in a pita pocket. Tons of sauce. Very little flavor. I was highly disappointed by the bad food and exceptionally horrible service in this place. I made my order when the joint only had one other patron inside. Yet, three people who came in after me received their food first. When I pointed out how long I had been waiting, the woman at the register just looked at me with a bored stare. It’s too bad that their sister café, Maman, is one of my favorite places in the area. I will never come back to Poo Poo Poule.

After a failed attempt to have lunch at nearby restaurant, I decided to give Papa Poule a try. I was greeted by a lovely young lady who was really helpful and patient. She went through the menu with me while letting me know her favorite items. I decided on the ½ chicken and the roasted sweet carrots and parsnips with cumin as my side. I was allowed one sauce to go with my meal, by default I would have chosen the home made BBQ, but I felt like being adventurous and had the red pepper aioli. Everything was tasty and the portion size was good. I really enjoyed the carrots and parsnips. Though the red pepper aioli sauce was not as spicy as I hoped for, it was still flavorful and a great addition to the rotisserie chicken. With the spring /summer months approaching, I’m sure I’ll stop by Papa Poule for a good meal to go with a picnic and I’ll be sure to try the home made BBQ sauce.

Awesome new place. The chicken is incredibly tasty, the desserts are the best i found in the city and I have french standards. :) The delivery is super fast, under 10 mins and the guys are always so pleasant. Will start ordering from there everyday.

I love this concept! My husband works right by Papa Poule and brought a chicken and two sides home this week for us to try. It was such great, simple good food. Hope this place does amazingly well and I look forward to getting food from here again soon!

The food here is sooo good and extremely fresh, nice place and very friendly staff. You eat here and then you go for a cookie at Mamam NYC — same owners! Love this place!

Probably the best chicken ever! Really ever. Got there in time to buy the last ½ available. Moist, aeronautic bird flavored with whole peppercorns and lots of fresh thyme. One of tonight’s side dishes was a wonderful combination of roasted eggplant, onions and tomato and a good amount of garlic reminiscent of southern France. Also tried the pot pie. Really a meat pie in a hearty pastry crust. Don’t miss the tasty, crunch top Mac and cheese. This place is staying in the favorites rotation.

Came here with two colleagues to pick up lunch from this new«hot spot». Apparently the owner(s) have a café around the corner as well. The place is the size of a phonebooth, but people are extremely friendly and dont mind squishing in or reading you the dessert menu if you’re last in line. The food is fresh — super fresh. Everything looks great and smells delicious. They display their sweets in a little glass case — we picked up a chicken caesar salad and a caramel, brownie, cream layered thing. The dessert came in a mason jar(I saved mine to reuse for jams once I make my own this summer) and the salad came in a biodegradable container, which I love. The team behind the counter obviously took a ton of pride in their craft — they talked us through options and sent us on our way with a huge bag of items(and a huge bill). It’s normal NYC prices — my portion came to $ 20 for one salad and two desserts. Not my normal splurge, but the salad was worth it. The desserts were a bit bland — seemed to be lacking something. maybe a little sea salt or fresh fruit? Either way — Id come back for that juicy chicken and dijon dressing any day.

Rushed over to this French chicken hotspot just opened 2 days ago by Michelin-starred Chef Arnal & the rest of the team behind bakery Maman. Was able to get one of the last rotisserie chickens for the day but did have to wait a short while for it to finish cooking. The place was cleaned out! Just so you know what to expect, this place is minuscule… a charming French shoebox with an exposed kitchen that only offers take-out or delivery. Now for the food!!! The succulent chicken was stuffed with aromatics such as fresh thyme & rosemary, garlic cloves, a bay leaf and whole peppercorns which gave it such rich flavor. Various dipping sauces were provided… I fancied the chimichurri immensely! Baby potatoes and Caesar salad were the sides and both were ultra savory and plentiful. And there was a last minute impulse buy that I want to make sure & yell loud enough for all those who happen to read this review… the DECONSTRUCTEDBROWNIE which made me fall off my couch after I took a bite… in a good way! Let me just say, I think I am going back next week just to pick up one of these again… nuff said!

A new addition to the thriving Nolita foodie scene. From the creators of Maman, Papa Poule offers rotisserie chicken good enough to wait in line for. The chicken is the obvious star here but the desserts are no slouches either! The mustard sauce was my favorite and the deconstructed brownie in-a-jar is worth every calories! I’m looking forward to their growing menu!
