This store is right by the A and 1 trains at Nagle/​Hillside and Broadway (190th at). It’s name is actually Organic Paradise. I like having a neighborhood health food store, the owner is knowledgeable and nice to speak with; the store has been here for over 20 years. Their selection and prices are competitive and even better than places like Whole Foods or the ilk. My most recent discovery was organic pasture raised eggs for $ 5.69 (at least a dollar cheaper than whole foods!).

Called to ask a question regarding a specific item to see if it was in stock. Owner picked up shouting loudly. When I asked her my question, she slammed the phone down. My ear is still ringing. Not such a healthy experience. Unpleasant, bizarre, unprofessional.

I feel it’s a strange negotiation every time I come in here. Either they have the item you want, and you pay for it, or not. I come here primarily for the teas I can’t get elsewhere, but my attempt to request a special order went nowhere quick. They do accept credit cards, but like most small businesses, it’s better to pay cash.

Svetlana, the owner is one of the most compassionate and knowledgeable homeopath/​naturopaths I’ve ever met. She really listens to you and knows what to recommend for any kind of ailment that you might be suffering from. Please check her out! She also has an array of good buys, especially in her bulk aisle.

I don’t do my regular shopping here, I mostly go for the bulk dried items like quinoa, dried fruits and nuts and beans and little things like organic honey. They prepackage the the bulk items, but you can also request specific amounts and they will make up a bag for you on the spot if its in stock. As for other items, the selection is kind of all over the place. They may have something one week then not again for a while.
Fruits and vegetables are sometimes very expensive and not in great shape. But they do stay open very late, until 8 or 9pm sometimes, which is helpful.

Small selection, very expensive, like tofu being $ 1 more here than Zabars, Gristedes or. West side Market, some things are visible, many things, you have to really dig for, the owner is angry, pushy and rude. There are not many health food places around here, but I could not take it anymore, so now I just haul my groceries from downtown!
Oh, you could plotz with that owner! Just try asking her the price of something, or just ask her anything, go ahead, you’ll be sorry.
She also lied to me about something, saying it was Vegan, I bought it, but when I read the label at home it had eggs in it. She knew, she just has to push. She knows I am Vegan, but always tries to get me to buy whatever she has upfront to taste that day, no matter what has in it and is annoyed when I don’t want to buy/​try those items.
Oh and a very small and inconsistent selections.
