Favorite place to get coffee around NYU. Slightly expensive for a latte, but honestly where in the city are you going to get a cheap latte? I recommend the iced caramel latte, it makes me happy when I’m stuck studying or after a exam. ORENS is the way to go.

Really good mocha! Got a large mocha and a chocolate croissant and they were both delicious – a little overpriced but would definitely come back if I were in the area and in the mood. Not really a place I could imagine myself sitting and doing work in, but a good in-and-out, fast service.

The baristas at 6pm on a Tuesday night were talking incredibly loud with one another. Completely unnecessary. I don’t need to hear about how your boyfriend doesn’t want you eating Alfredo pasta because it’s too fattening or how you don’t like to eat breakfast cereal. There are customers, please use your inside voice when conversing with your coworkers.

Solid campus coffee shop located right in the center of hub of NYU. Oren’s is a decent coffeeshop who does well with their roast choices and their pastries. Bringing their donuts from Donut Plant, they sell solid donuts. Their coffee is well roasted and always hot, so it goes good with a donut, especially on cold days. Because Oren is so close to campus, they are the usual, «Oh crap I’m late but I still want coffee,» shop. While they aren’t my favorite overall, their proximity to campus really is their selling point.

First of all, I am not a true coffee drinker. the extent of my drinking is the sweet drinks disguised as coffee that I get at Starbucks. But…I have a friend who is a daily drinker of java, and when I am on vacation I try to bring some beans home for he to try and hopefully, enjoy. The first time I ever stopped at an Oren’s was at the Grand Central location. I picked up some beans in the NYC Blend. My friend said it was the best coffee that I had ever brought back to Iowa. On other trips to NY I also stopped at the store on William Street. At the time they did not have the NYC Blend, so I picked up the City Blend. On my most recent trip in November, I asked on the Oren’s Facebook page if the NYC Blend was available. They said that one of the beans included in the blend was not available, but suggested a replacement bean. When I went to the Waverly Place shop, the staff was very helpful when I explained the blend that I needed. The gent took care of my order, and was very friendly and chatted as he prepared the mixture of beans. He could not have been more helpful. I highly recommend Oren’s, based on my friends tastes.

I was really shocked by the prices, but I guess that’s my own fault for assuming they would be cheaper than Starbucks. As it is, I bought a small regular coffee and a tiny chocolate bar for a little over $ 7. Yikes. If only it were worth it! The coffee is extremely bitter. I had to toss it in the trash. I’m definitely sticking to Starbucks from now on.

After several hours spent walking around the city and celebrating a marriage with our young relatives, we needed a break. My brother and I, two very active ’60-somethings sought coffee to enjoy in Washington Square and quickly found Oren’s. The shop was clean and bright and the staff were cheerful and friendly. They answered our coffee questions knowledgeably while greeting regulars like old friends. A few minutes later we were back at the square with a rich iced coffee and a creamy latte listening to a jazz trio and recharging in the shade. The excellent coffee and efficient service helped make our afternoon at the Square a memorable pleasure

Oh, Oren’s. My sweet, sweet haven. Coffee = yum. Service = fast, always spot-on. I’m not sure what else to say, other than Oren’s, I love you, and Unilocal users, head toward Waverly now.

Great coffee shop. Local pastries provided by Dough and others, if you are so inclined. You can get discount on beans used for their daily drip too. Also, separate corner for all things home-coffee for the wannabe barista.

I love that they have sf options for flavors and almond milk, but prices are still a bit steep! Its coffee… but its definitely better then the ‘Bucks and the staff was quick… Honestly i took off one star because at 8:50am I dont want to listen to the entire WICKED soundtrack while drinking my coffee… who thought this was a good idea before 9 am?

Quick service and fine coffee. BUT. They ALWAYS put milk in my coffee without asking if that’s how I take it. I like my coffee black and it’s pretty annoying to get to work after picking up coffee and realize that someone put milk in it without you asking for that.

The staff here was pleasant but far from friendly, maybe suffering a midday caffeine crash compounded by a lack of customers to keep them engaged and some dreary weather(not that this spot gets much natural light anyway). Redeemed the ‘free beverage’ card burning a hole in my wallet for a chocolate au lait, which — even after a vigorous stir — was several notches below subtle on the chocolate scale. Gladly bypassed the flavored syrups(must admit they boast a nice seasonal assortment) but sadly skipped the Espresso chocolate bar at the register(and didn’t qualify for the free coffee with bean purchase Unilocal checkin offer).

Nice roasts, decently priced, quick… I still remember their first location being so tiny that the line would pack out the door in between NYU class sessions. Not great during winter time. A true village favorite, still the best roasters on this side of town methinks.

I haven’t been to Oren’s very often, but every time I go, it has been a good experience. It’s convenient location for NYU students is also a plus. I’ve seen lines going out the door, but I haven’t seen that since they remodeled and I don’t go during those times anyway. If you want to avoid that long line, I suggest you don’t go in the mornings. The people seem to be really nice and they seem to be efficient in terms of getting drinks out as quickly as possible so I would definitely commend them on their service. I’ve tried: — Café au Lait — I’m not a coffee person because I usually start shaking from too much caffeine, so this was perfect. It wasn’t too strong and after adding sugar to it, it tasted okay. I’m not huge on the taste but I really only get it when I’m super tired. — Green Tea — Nothing out of the ordinary. Not bad, but not my favorite place. — Chocolate Chip Cookie — $ 2.25 is a bit much for a cookie, but it is totally worth it. Not only is the cookie huge, it is THICK. You are not getting ripped off because it is super yummy too. I wouldn’t get it every time I go, but now and then, it is nice to drink with a nice cup of tea.

Their hot chocolate’s a little watery, but everything else is delicious! I love the chocolate and whole wheat croissants and their teas are pretty good too, provided you don’t over steep it. The line can get pretty long, but thanks to the expansion you don’t have to wait out in the cold. And it’s nowhere near as bad as the Starbucks around the corner. Definitely one of my favorite coffee shops in the NYU area.

The coffee here is pretty good. Service is fast and friendly but prices are a bit on the pricey side — over $ 4 for a small latte. They do have a soy milk option and syrup for your coffee, which I appreciate. I hate it when I’m stuck with half sweetened coffee because only half of my sugar melted in the cup. They don’t take orders by name here so make sure you’re on the lookout for your drink being called.

Favorite coffee spot on campus. Some months ago it moved next door to a much bigger store front. I always get their LATTE. Never disappoints. Their regular coffee is usually dark and very hot! Add your own milk and sugar at little counter. Don’t forget your Oren’s rewards card! Free cup of coffee after every 12th cup.

Oren I love you, too. Some days you are the only thing I look forward to about school. The location can’t get any more convenient, and the coffee is a great price for the quality. Their beans are roasted in Jersey and delivered every morning. The coffee is usually dark and aromatic. A small black coffee is $ 2, and You can get a pastry for ~$ 2, so breakfast/brunch ends up being less than $ 5. Great price, great quality. I really like their fig bars, or the whole wheat croissants they get from Balthazar. Their muffins are also pretty good, but on the sweet side(but tolerable). They also have a decent selection of rugelach, which I haven’t tried yet. The baristas who work there are really efficient and friendly, even though there’s almost always a line. Yay :)
