THISPLACEIS A JOKE! In town for a guy’s weekend. As we were walking by we asked what the place was. Door guy says it’s a hot hip-hop spot. Cool, we decided to check it out. Paid $ 40 apiece to get in. Place was not very busy, this is around 1am. Went to the bar and started a tab. Was asked for my ID along with my credit card. Our drinks came in small plastic cups, classy. We stayed for about 45 minutes. The music was good, DJ has some skills. But every girl in the place looked like a hooker. When I went to close out my tab. The bartender dropped my check without my card or ID, strange. I looked up and asked for them both. He then looks at me crazy while hold my id & card. And says«sign the check first and I’ll give you your card». WHAT?!? This fool charged me for 6 drinks @ $ 117.(small plastic cups) When we ordered only 5. I could tell he was ready for a confrontation. So I just signed and we bounced. Almost forgot, he put a 20% gratuity on my bill. We were all wearing dress shirts and jeans. I guess since we weren’t wearing white t-shirts with a ball cap’s sideways he thought easy pickings. STAYAWAYFROMTHISPLACE!!! Call American Express to dispute the charges. :)

Opus 51 is a nice place. The crowd is decent. It’s very small but overall you could enjoy yourself. If you come with the right group of friends you should be straight.

It was a fun cool party because I was in VIP the whole night. Bottle girls were very attractive and music was great. Did stop a few times but it is what it is. Would definitely come here again.

If I could zero stars, I would! I have NEVER experienced such an unprofessional, demeaning and down straight HOOD of a place that I encountered coming to this place! Honestly, if it weren’t for the fact that my friends and family were so supportive and comforting, my birthday would’ve been completely destroyed! I went on a Saturday for a new weekly event-taking place there, Sultry Saturdays(or Opus Saturdays as the flyers says). I did my research on the promotional group hosting the event and seeing how they describe the event as «classy» and«downtown chic», I thought it would be a great place to host my birthday, as I wanted something new. Boy was I wrong. Approximately one week prior to the event, I reached out to the promoters for the event to confirm a table as well as bottle prices, etc. I always reserved a table for my birthday, as I really love to have a good time as well as splurge on my day. I asked both via email as well as through text messages(with the main contact) if I need to place my party on a guest list and I was told to have them fill out the Eventbrite details«just in case to avoid any issues»(I quote this from the email that was sent to me). After confirming everything and asking EVERYONE in my party to fill out the necessary information, I thought that everything was all set. Again, boy was I wrong. Fast forward to Saturday, as I pulled up to the venue and saw the sweatpants wearing(yes, sweatpants), sneakers rocking attire of the people, I knew clearly that my friends and I were overdressed(I thought they said it was downtown chic, *scratches head*) Anyway, we were already there and wanted to make the best out of the situation since we were having a great day and thought that we’ll have fun no matter what. When we got to the front of the line, the security guard who was there preceded to tell me that I could only bring in 6 out of the 8 guests with me(please bear in mind that I ordered two bottles). The promoter who I worked with for the event was in the front as well and after he mentioned that I was doing bottle service and me arguing that not only was I doing bottle service and that the ladies who were with me were on the list REGARDLESS, we got in. After cooling off, we got to the table and we thought we would enjoy the night. About 10 – 15 min. later, I got a text from a family friend saying that the SAME security guard was trying to tell him that he had to pay him $ 60 dollars to get in. I immediately lost it! Please bear in mind that I asked several different times if I have to provide the place with a list of names who were in my party(I work in a similar field so I know the business) and I was told as long as I do the RSVP via Eventbrite and they say they were here for my birthday, I was fine. After confronting the security guard again, I threw him couple of dollars because it looks as though homeboy was desperate to make his rent money so I thought I will help his charity because my bottles were upstairs. After my friends calm me down AGAIN, I said I wouldn’t let anything else mess up the night and will do my best to have fun — even if the place was a ghetto rip-off. I had a couple of drinks in my system and I started to feel a little bit better. Until all of a sudden, a huge fight broke out(none of my friends were involved with) and I got pushed down to the ground. Not only that, my table got knocked over and my bottles were completely smashed. I immediately ran off and cried — I have never experienced such a thing and NEVER thought that this was how my birthday would pan out. I went downstairs with a friend to get some air because I was so upset. That’s when the same security guard who was stealing money from people all night proceeded to tell me that I either had to pay him off AGAIN to get back upstairs or get out! And then out of nowhere, another security guard grabbed my friend while the other security guard punched him(yes, I’m very serious — punched him). That’s when a huge fight broke out. Again, I have been to some many different venues and never experienced something like this before in my life! The only reason why I didn’t press charges(as I was going to the following morning) is because my friends convinced me not to. Plus, since the mooching security guard hit like a little witch(use your imagination on what I really want to say), it only left a scratch on my friend. Though I’m not taking legal matters as I want to, I’m definitely reporting this to the Consumer Report as well as taking any necessary protocol because if this is how this venue and third-party promotional partners run their business, they should not be in place to hurt the welfare of other patrons. I hope this review helps other people — there are far better places in the city and much better promotion companies having parties throughout the city that I wouldn’t want you to waste your time and more importantly, get hurt all because of greedy workers.

Came here last night to celebrate a birthday. A small lounge that thankfully was not too crowded because with the size I could see how things could go wrong but did not.

This is the first review i have ever done! Worst place ever in NYC, terrible sound, crowded and insaine prices for where u are. They do launch parties so they fill it up and 1 hour after it is empty again. 22 for a tiny drink, bad music and bad attitude service. Never going back.

I came for an after work drink. It was overpriced and honestly the music was too loud and the place kind of sucked. Way to expensive for the space. I will not be back– there are much better options in NYC.

If I could give this place 0 stars or worse I would. My family and I went there on a Saturday night for my sisters graduation. It was a party for her whole class that graduated to become doctors. I don’t know if it is because they think that have money to blow and reserved an open bar, but the bartenders were complete As@*#les to everyone. We went up there with 5 people to get 5 beers while the open bar was still going on. My sister handed the guy a $ 20.00 bill… He looked at and gave her change and gave her $ 15.00 back and said to her«I took $ 5.00 for myself». We were going to tip him well but after that BS we decided to go to the other bartender next time. We ordered 5 mixed drinks the cost for each averaged out to about $ 21.00 each which is ridiculous. to top all that off they automatically added 18% gratuity to my check with no choice to change it. We had our last straw when my brother went up to get 5 more beers and the guy handed him two beers and said he would not give him anymore. I was standing behind him so I said OK I’ll just ask for 2 more as well… He said«No! Those two were for both of you! You are holding up my F#$@ing line now go!» This is by far one of the rudest most disgusting place I have ever been. It was overly crowded with staff that seemed like they had no idea what was going on. When we left we saw people that just went outside to meet their friends to get them in, and they would not let them back in and the bouncers were pretty much threatening the people to leave or he would make them go away… worst place ever… don’t book a party or even go here for any reason… don’t let them steal your money and then feel like you got kicked in the nuts at the same time.

If you like overcrowded clubs that probably violate fire codes, door staff with poor communication skills(despite wearing ear pieces for assistance), mediocre«DJ’s» and partying in the interior of someone’s living room with annoying strobe lighting, then this is your place. Went here on a Saturday night and found the following: — Door staff was extremely rude and failed to communicate with staff from within. They also turned away 2 ethnic men with our group with the excuse«we’re not letting in any more guys,» and took in a bunch of caucasian males afterward. — The line was long and once inside, it was crowded. Also there was no room to dance. Lame. Should not be called a Dance Club. — DJ seemed inexperienced as he would play a dull instrumental for several minutes, then switched to an upbeat dance hit for about 30 seconds. — Interior literally looked like someone’s living room. There were also helium-filled balloons on ribbon strands hanging from the ceiling. Would not recommend this for anyone who is sensitive to strobe lighting because it was overkill. Only cool things about this place were a violinist and a woman on stilts who added a Vegas-like flair. Gave this place about half an hour and left to a place in the area that offers what Meatpacking is known for — good: space, music, staff and ambience. True story.
