The customer service at this location is disappointing. I have been in there 3 – 4 times in the last few months and continue to be turned off by the experience. I love the store and have been waiting to here from them on a special order that I had placed last week(they told me it would be in within a day) and its 5 days later. It’s a shame because the store is adorable.

A woman named Jodi helped me and she was very attentive, astute and extremely helpful. I bought way more than I would have if she hadn’t worked with me. She has a very sharp eye. There’s a good variety of choices and all are stylish: bright or muted; classic or a little risky… something for everyone.

Nothing like a sour sales girl to set the tone of a bad transaction. I went into the store to do an exchange from a purchase a few days ago. I was immediately greeted by a sweet and smiling African American girl«Hello, can I help you with anything?» I told her I was there for an exchange. I picked out the sweater I wanted. I walked to the counter and had an Asian girl just confront me with«You have the receipt?» No hello, no I can help you with that, no smile, just attitude. I have to admit, her attitude set off mine and I wasn’t exactly nice back but how hard is it to just smile and not confront a customer with an attitude. When I left I said«thank you» and her response was«BYE». The original girl that helped me buy the sweater was super sweet and helpful, not sure why this girl today had evoke such a negative experience. I would prob not shop there again because of my experience with this bitter salesgirl.

Came here with a friend to buy a birthday present for another friend who frequents this store. Staff was okay. Not super enthusiastic but also not super pushy. Now, I’ll be honest and admit I spend a lot of money on shoes/clothes/etc. However, I go for value, and I was hard pressed to find anything of value here. First off, practically nothing in the store is on sale. They carry brands like Rebecca Taylor, Joie, etc, mostly ALL at full price. I am 100% sure you can buy everything at this boutique for cheaper at a high-end department store. The first and only time I was in this store, I saw a blouse that I liked — for full price. I then bought the same blouse a week later at Saks for 60% off. Besides the clothes, which are cute but overpriced, this store just seems to have useless knick-knacks. $ 25 for a plastic-y bracelet? $ 16 for some no-name brand lip-gloss compact? I don’t think so. For that amount of money I can buy a good quality lip gloss(or two) from Sephora. Bottom line, if you want a store that sells random«trendy» accessories or don’t mind paying full price for something when it’s probably on sale elsewhere, come to this place. If you prefer buying things on sale and go for value(ie better quality materials like silk vs. polyester, etc) then don’t waste your time here!

This store has some really great stuff and I would have given it four stars if it weren’t for the people that work there … I have been in a number of times. I used to buy stuff, but I’ve stopped. Is it too much to ask for the employees to respond when I say«hello»? The store is staffed by tweeny boppers who are so busy chattering about some garbage that they watched on MTV that they can’t be bothered to, well, work. Sure, you may see them occasionally fold a shirt or move something, but don’t be fooled. This is just a guise when there is a lull in their oh-so-fascinating conversation. If anyone who works at Olive and Bette’s reads this, please hire some employees who have manners. I would love to buy your stuff, but it’s expensive and I’d at least like to feel like I’m getting a measure of customer service.

This is the place for pricey casual clothes when you want to supplement your wardrobe with a few things. Good for basics. And Betsey Johnson is next door when you need something formal. Recently had the best salesperson there who was calm, cool, hands off, but really great at suggesting/evaluating. Only wish it weren’t so pricey.

While it is spency, Olive and Bette’s is super trendy so if you see it in a magazine, chances are you can pick it up here. Staff is friendly and constantly at work making sure everything is folded and in place. I always have a pleasant shopping experience here so it is usually high on my list of places to hit to drop some cash.

I found my cupcakes at Olive & Bette’s. They were little plastic cupcake container’s filled with lip gloss and they were displayed on a cake stand on the counter. So cute! So not really worth my $ 6 bucks either. My friends and I were immediately drawn into Olive & Bette’s by it’s circus like décor and promise of cute clothing options. I can’t even say the clothes were cute. I guess they just weren’t our style. Everything was expensive too. Some things did not even have a price tag. There was a huge corner of jeans which makes nice for people who didn’t find what they needed at Lucky Brand but I just wasn’t into it. The staff was really nice but if the clothes don’t catch my eye, then I’m not even going to stay 10 minutes, let alone purchase anything. I did notice on the way out, the little doggy dish filled with dog biscuits. Kudos for being dog friendly, having a wonderful staff, and being accessory/cosmetically hip but boo to you for falling short on the clothing. I’d prefer to shop at wink and teddy.

One of my favorites on the upper west side. I bought a sexy little halter Trina Turk long dress last summer. Lots of sweaters, dresses, tops… cool stuff… moderate to higher priced clothing here… if you are an H&M shopper, you won’t like it.

Last week I scored the shirt that will change my life. The day that I wear it has to be just right, because it’s not everyday that I will a) meet my future husband, b) win the lottery, and c) cure cancer. I cannot predict on which magical day it will be, but I will be wearing my blue silk shirt from Olive & Bette’s. It’s just that cute.

Hands down my favorite boutique on the UWS. Go there for jeans, fun dresses, tops and more casual clothes. And go often! Merchandise changes over quickly.

i’ve gotten some cute stuff here — basic tanks that are well cut(velvet, michael starrs, james pearse) and super adorable rain boots(it took me forever to find a pair i loved). the sales girls are generally pretty helpful — its not too big of a store and there are usually a whole bunch of them. if they’re out of your size in something(say, rainboots) they’ll get them for you from another store or from their warehouse, which is conveniently location around the corner from this location. my one issue is they definitely hone in on people they think will spend money in the store. times i’ve been in here and have been well-dressed, i’ve been bombarded with assitance and other times that ive been more dressed-down(read: scrubby), they’ve let me slip under the radar.
