I came in before some ice cream with a friend. We walked right by the entrance– it’s easy to miss, but I recommend searching for it because this is some damn good Mexican food! I ordered two tacos– a shrimp and a chicken. They were, hands down, some of the best tacos I’ve had in my life. Packed with flavor and ingredients, and pretty cheap for what you’re getting. The restaurant itself, while tiny, is really great. The walls are gorgeous and it’s rumored to be BYOB, but I didn’t test that theory myself. If you’re in the East Village and willing to hunt a little bit for this place, it’s definitely worth it!

This place is so easy to miss just walking down the street, its a small location that delivers amazing Mexican food. This hole in the wall joint produces some of the best tacos I have ever had. They pack each taco with unique and amazing tastes, and for the quality of food they serve its really really cheap. I almost feel like I am ripping them off! I highly, highly recommend this place, everything on the menu is fantastic, I have had just about every taco option on the menu and they all great choices. Furthermore, this place always has discounts on amazon local, or groupon /livingsocial.

I’m giving this 4 stars because the tacos made up for my first trip there. Had I ONLY gotten tacos both trips, they’d have gotten a 5. The first trip was chicken enchiladas verde to-go. Got home to find 3 chicken enchiladas covered in cheese… that’s it. No sauce at all. I had to dig in my fridge to find salsa to put on them and yes, I was pretty ticked since I paid over $ 10 for them. However, the reviews were good for their tacos so I gave them one more shot. Now those are pretty tasty. Still not the best ever, but pretty darn good. Got Al Pastor and the special of the day, mole tacos. Both really good, I added hot sauce but that’s a personal preference.

The tacos are amazing. The rice and beans could have been more. I felt like I didn’t get enough there. I love the El Pastor! The pineapple tastes soooo good. I recommend stopping in if you get a chance.

I have been to the city a few times now, and I have eaten my way through its many cafés and storefront shops. This is hands down the best value and best taste I have encountered. I tried four different tacos, including the nopal taco, which used tender cactus meat. In each taco the meat was perfectly seasoned, perfectly tender, and accompanied by the perfect accoutrements. And the price! What a value!

Came here with the Groupon. Everything was delicious! We order three tacos and three enchiladas and enjoyed all of them. Definitely worth checking out, especially with the Groupon.

Fiancée and I came in and tried most of their tacos, as well as the elote and rice and beans. The elote was overlooked and sort of soggy and the rice and beans were a bit dry. The tacos were merely fine — the al pastor was more pineapple than pork, and the chorizo was extremely greasy and had a pretty low quality texture. That’s saying a lot for me because chorizo is one of my perfect foods. The barbacoa was very good — perfect flavor and shredded texture. Unfortunately the tacos are pushing $ 4.

So good! I’m from Sunset Park, which has the best Mexican food in the city, but this place is almost as good! The mole tacos, while not being exactly traditional are so yummy! This is the only, trust me I’ve looked, place in the East Village that has even close to authentic Mexican food! It’s for sure the best in the area.

These aren’t cheap tacos but it’s a new place in the East Village so I wasn’t expecting bargain basement prices. Expect to pay $ 4.50 for a taco, but it will be a damn good taco. I tried the Korean Bulgogi taco and the flavors were excellent. Nice for a quick snack but if I wanted to gorge I’d go elsewhere.

YUM! This place is GREAT! Had the PAPAS Y RAJAS enchiladas with MOLE sauce(with the combo you get an abundance of rice and beans). Oh! My! Goodness! The sauce! It’s super cheap. The people who work there are really nice. So happy I found them! Plus it’s cute and clean so it’s nice to eat-in. Go!

Got the groupon deal. 3 enchiladas or tacos for $ 6. i bought 2 of them and both times it was below par. there are so many better mexican spots in the east village so i wouldn’t order another groupon let alone pay full price. just a step up from tex mex. people there are friendly and the spot is kinda cute but food — eh.

Delicious! I love adding New Mexican joints to my list and this one didn’t disappoint. The tacos were divine — we tried chicken, beef and chorizo. Plenty of filling and transported well in our take away containers. I’d definitely go back.

These tacos are perfect examples of Mexican street food. They have a very friendly staff, delicious tacos(Carnitas, Barbacoa and al Pastor were my favorites), really good salsas(avocado lime especially) and not expensive. All the items are priced reasonably and served hot and fresh. I’ll be back and will place many orders for delivery in the near future.

It’s no secret that I adore Mexican food. I even have a list of my favorite burritos. It’s no joke. So when friends of ours wanted to go try a new taco place not too far from home, we happily agreed. I didn’t do any research and knew little about it, other than it was located next to Big Gay Ice Cream, so if it blew, I could compensate with some Big Gay in my mouth. Anywho, we met them on a frosty Thursday night on East 7th Street, ready to chow down hard. I realize this review is a little raunchy already, but it gets better. Trust. The«restaurant» is small, clearly meant for a quick meal or takeout. Lucky for us, there wasn’t another patron in there, so we could spread out. They had a few specials(Cactus tacos!) but I went with the standard menu fare, you know, just to get a real feel for what they can do. The four of us shared chips and guacamole, both of which were very good. The guac was nice and creamy, not overpowering and well seasoned. The chips were also very tasty, not overly amazing, but good. Nice and crispy. I ordered three tacos, partially because I wanted to try everything but mostly because I’m indecisive. I had the Barbacoa(Pasilla Braised Beef Tenderloin, pickled red onion, salsa roja, avocado salsa, cotija, cilantro) and it was my favorite of the bunch. Flavors were there, not too spicy, with just a little bit of kick(olé!) and the beef was perfectly cooked. Two things stood out to me immediately: 1. These tiny tacos were PACKED with meat. I mean they didn’t skimp on the fillings whatsoever. So you really feel like you are getting what you paid for(I think they were $ 3.50-$ 4 each). I was starting to get full after just one. 2. Everything was either diced bite sized, or well cooked, so when you took a bite, only that bite went into your mouth. Let me explain a little better — You know when you take a bite of a sandwich, taco, whathaveyou and larger pieces of the meal come sliding out with the bite? So now you have way too much onion, or you are standing there trying to pull it away from your teeth, your mouth is too full ect? Because I’m weird and not ashamed to admit it, I will tell you this is one of my biggest pet peeves. I don’t want the whole taco falling out in one bite. I know that seems like a tangent, but I think it’s important to the integrity of the taco. I see you side-eyeing me through the computer. I’m fine with it. I also ordered the Al Pastor(Adobo Marinated Roasted Pork, grilled onions & pineapple, salsa verde, cilantro) and this were extremely well made too. The pork was very well cooked and the whole thing marinated in great flavors that mixed well together. It was spicier than the beef, but I still added hot sauce. I love Cholula. Sue me. My last taco was the Camaron(seared adobo rojo shrimp, pico, shredded cabbage, salsa verde, avocado salsa, cilantro) and I will admit these were my least favorite. I couldn’t really taste the shrimp, which was a bummer, and there was a lot of salsa that overpowered the shrimp quite a bit. I don’t know that I would order it again. It was also served cold(which was stated on their menu) and I don’t think I liked that. Personal preference I suppose, but not my bag, ya know? But despite all that, it didn’t taste bad at all. It just wasn’t what I expected, and wasn’t what I thought I was ordering. I wish they served beers, but you can bring your own, so that’s fairly easy to accomplish. The staff was friendly and actually brought our food to our table, which was a nice surprise because it’s much more of a counter service joint than restaurant with waiter service. The décor was cheap, which is cool with me, since I only care about the food in this type of place. The tables are small, but they squeezed a lot of them in there considering the size of the store. They set themselves apart from a place like Chipotle because of the freshness and well mingled flavors. I would say their tacos are far and away better than a Chipotle burrito. The prices were not rock bottom, but very reasonable, so it’s an affordable dinner for two when you don’t want to cook. They are open until 2AM, which means it just became my new«drunk food». AND: the deliver! So when I’m too lazy to actually go there and get it myself, Mexico comes to me. Oaxaca is a taco win for sure, and now I want to go back for a burrito, because you know I just can’t resist.

‘We are always adding new locations’ is not a spectacularly sustainable business model for a homegrown Mexican restaurant in the Chipotle era, especially when they aren’t accountable enough to post a menu with prices on their site. I was the only one at this newish location during lunch and yet was still greeted like they were doing me a favor by accepting my Groupon. Given the lack of info mentioned above, I realized through the paper menu and their Twitter that afternoon that the $ 5 for 3 tacos or enchiladas(they refuse to allow you to mix and match without explanation) was far from a deal given their lunch specials and happy hour(and the fact that you’re ineligible for the combo despite satisfying the criteria based on their rigid requirements). Regardless, went the taco trio route(since they don’t make enough non-meat enchiladas to ensure a variety): camaron, pescado, and nopales(special) were all unremarkable even with the hot sauces on the dining counter by the window. Glad my Groupon was via a random credit or would’ve felt slighted. This is a duplicated listing(I created the other one and thia has since popped up)

This place is always empty because of the obnoxious long lines to get into the big gay ice cream shop next door. No one can see the door! There should be long lines to get up in this place! Yummy tacos at good prices. I had the chorizo, seasoned pork and fish taco with a side of rice and beans. They currently have groupons available. Stock up while you can!
