Bert is a fantastic tour guide, and as far as I can tell, he’s the main one running these tours. He is super knowledgeable about the city, its history, and its quirky trivia, making this tour a great one just to get to know New York — the chocolate is an added(albeit at times overwhelming) bonus. There are three different tours available, each about 2.5−3 hours, one in Soho, one on the Upper East and one around Union Square. I really couldn’t have imagined taking a tour during which I spent three hours just eating chocolate — for $ 70 no less — but then when I saw that the Union Square one includes wine pairings, and my dad was coming to town, all of a sudden I thought $ 80/head(since wine is included) might be worth it just to check it out. Though two of the places are factories in which you can actually see the chocolate being made and speak to the proprietors, two of the places are pretty generic shops you could easily stumble into just walking down the street. The 5th place, is a hidden gem, as I doubt many people realize there’s a gourmet chocolate shop tucked inside ABC Furniture on Broadway.
