I know this place closed down a couple of years ago, but I just had to pay homage to my once favorite pizza establishment. This hole-in-the-wall had the best regular pizza in all of NYC — hands down. The cheese, the sauce, the crust — all cooked to perfection. Ooey, gooey, delicious goodness. Melt-in-your-mouth pizza. A developer had bought out the entire building on that block and all the businesses had to shut down. I was shocked and saddened to see that they were no longer there. To this day, I think about their pizza and I hope they will re-open their doors at another location one day soon. For now, they will always have a special place in my heart.

Farewell New Town. I will miss your somewhat above average slices and awful hygienic standards. The already lackluster pizza selection on the UWS just got worse.

RIP New Pizza Town. I just hope they finish whatever the hell it is they are going to do to that block before it starts to look even worse than it already does. You will be missed…

Canned mushrooms? Canned mushrooms? Canned mushrooms? Canned mushrooms? Is is that hard to buy some fresh mushrooms and slice them? Is it? Also, for delivery, the toppings slid around like crazy, messing up the pizza. The crust on the pizza was also not very good. I usually eat pizza crust, but not this pizza. But…canned mushrooms? Canned mushrooms? Canned mushrooms? Canned mushrooms? Canned mushrooms? Come one New Pizza Town! Needles to say I will never order from you again.

Ehhhh… New Pizza Town is not the greatest pizzerias in the City. Its just alright. It’s small, crampy and doesn’t have the cleanest floor. The walls are decorated with celebs which I would assume love their pizza… not sure why… I ordered a regular slice«not too hot.» I got it cold. I’m not the type to bitch, so I just ate it, well because I was damn hungry. There aren’t many options for pizza on the UWS, so I’d go back, IF I needed to.

So I started biking along the Hudson parkway from the financial district area and made my way up until I could not bike anymore without grabbing myself a slice a pizza. I stop at a bench to navigate myself. Wow, I’m pretty far up at this point. So I Unilocal a pizza spot and what do you know, the 79th st. exit that I’m about to hit will lead me near New Town Pizza. Saved! I’m really exhausted at this point and all I want it pizzzza to gain back all the calories I just loss ;) I love thin crust pizza and that’s what you get when you enter the little corner pizza joint. I got a broccoli pizza to go! It was packed very well and still pipping hot as I ate in central park. What a reward! Even though I knew being so hungry probably made this pizza way, way better than it was, it was still satisfyingly tasty and gave me the energy to keep biking!

3.5STARS FOOD: 4 It’s been years since i’ve eaten a really good New York Pizza place. This place is it! Although it could cut back a little on the grease(speaking from one who does appreciate grease on my pizza). SERVICE: 3.5 This rating doesnt go towards our experience with them but towards my observation of them interacting with the rest of their customers. Very friendly and chatty and def. give the place a home feel with their singing figaro and all that. :] AMBIANCE: 2.5 It’s a hole in the wall(Family owned?). what can i say. They’re just here to do good pizza and they’re doing it. PRICE: 3

I have been ordering from this place since I moved to New York. I randomly came across it and decided to order in one Thursday night. It was really good. The Pizza’s are huge, not greasy for NY pizza and super cheap. The outside of the place is kinda sketch but I have never been inside — only delivery. If you order in, the guy on the phone is hard to understand but they deliver pizza super fast :) I typically get olives but have also tried Pepperoni and Mushroom which was good as well. Will keep eating here about 2x a month.

I would like to start out by saying they make excellent Pizza. Butttttttt, not sure if I got robbed with the price. I ordered 2 Large Pizzas with toppings and 3 Jamaican beef patties for $ 57.18WTH! Will I go back? No, I cannot afford it. I will have to try and find a cheaper place with good pizza. But again, they do have Excellent Pizza.

Excellent pizza place. Good selection of cheesy crispy slices, friendly staff, cheap prices, and a straw with my can of soda pop, which brought me back to my childhood days at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. There seems to be some arguments on the Unilocal-o-sphere about whether Caesar’s Palace or New Town offers the best pizza on the UWS. I say they’re pretty much a toss up, so just go to whichever one is closest!

Amazing cheap eats. Around the $ 3 mark, the slices were better than expected. The place looks a little greasy, but the pizza isn’t — and that’s what counts. I had the cheese & pepperoni slices & they were both equally good. I’ve had better garlic knots in my time(these were dry). Seating is limited.

I avoided this place for the longest time because it looked super sketch, but after one late night at the office, I ended up stopping here because I didn’t want anything else within a 4 block radius(I live 2 blocks from this place). The people there were friendly and courteous, and while they didn’t have any more garlic knots(it was 10:30 or 11 pm and he apologized for it), they had a good selection of other pizzas out. The TV was set on futbol, and there was one other person eating at a table. The pizza survived my walk home in sub-freezing temperatures better than Koronet’s ever did, and I think this might be my new go to place for cheap $ 2.50 a slice pizza. I’m planning on trying their cheapie pasta at some point in the future(my tastes run more to street food than gourmet food), and if that’s good, I may be set for Italian food in my neighborhood.

Fold-over slice of heaven. Not the very best New York Pizza slice I’ve ever had but given I haven’t had a true NY slice in 18+ years this spot was pretty great. Stuck with cheese, since I like to coat with garlic powder and red pepper flakes. Canned Coke with a straw, a stack of grese absorbing napkins and I was good to go!

Initially had two slices from NPT; the plain and the pepperoni, my standard benchmarks for assessing pizza. Overall the plain featured fresh, clean taste with the clear element to distinguish each element of the pie. Not greasy, inexpensive($ 2.50 for a slice of plain), but the place mildly sketchy in terms of appearance and cleanliness. Despite their gruff outwards appearances the counter staff were friendly.

We had just strapped down the tarp on Central Park West in preparation to wait 17 hours(including an expected 2 – 3 hours of steady thunderstorm rain) for tickets to the very last performance of Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte this season. The folks next to us ordered a pie from this place and were still standing, so we tried them too. The delivered in about half-an-hour to folks in line in the street(actually along the stone wall around the perimeter of the park). The pizza was pretty good. Not the best ever, but it hits the spot just before midnight Saturday night waiting in Central Park, or as close as the park police will allow us to be for the night.

Decent neighborhood pizza place. Nothing special. If you like doughy pizza, get their Sicilian square slice especially if you see it come fresh out of the oven. Since a comedy club is around the corner, you will see some recognizable faces stop by on ocassion. Chris Rock was here recently trying to keep a low profile and grab a quick slice. Like most NYers, everyone in the place did not get star struck. Most just acknowledged him by giving him a nod of the head and respected his privacy. Ironically, the owner has photos of himself and celebs(mostly from trips to Atlantic City?) posted all over the walls here. Cheers! N

Wow wow wow — I got a whole new appreciation of New York pizza with this place. The crust was thin and impossibly crispy, pizza was tasty and delicious — had the Pepperoni and the chicken. I’ve been jonesing for this pizza ever since I came back to LA… can someone FedEx me a slice?

***This review is for the plain slice.*** One of two Pizza Towns in the city(the other, Pizza Town II is on 30th&7th Ave), this spot is small and no frills. It produces every kind of slice you could want, including a quality Grandma slice. Everything else, however, is fairly standard and good only when fresh. * Crust — Bland and dry. It has good foldability but isn’t particularly tasty. * Cheese & Sauce — This place is least susceptible to poor quality pizza during busy hours. Points for that. Balanced ratio between cheese and sauce though sauce is nothing special. Generic and thin, not overpowering. Solid amount of cheese but not to the point where you’ll be chewing for a while. Grade: B–

When I’m in the area for Central Park, I like to stop by. Great pizza! $ 3.25 for a slice with one topping, and $ 3.75 for an everything slice. Love the bread. I usually don’t like crust, but this place is good.
