I have been to Rosa for several blowouts through BeautyPass and agree she does a great job on a solid blowout. Certainly comparable to other pricier«dry-bar» type spots in the city. One piece of constructive criticism: there is a younger gentleman who works there who is a little unprofessional. He started talking to me while I was getting my hair washed, I politely said I just wanted to relax and he then continued to speak to me, justifying it by saying that he worked there.

Just tried to visit this department with the intention of getting my eyebrows done and the staff was very hostile. I asked if they did eyebrow threading & they rudely responded that yes, they do, but they were going to close soon. I then asked them what time they closed & they said 6 p.m. At the current time of this occurrence, it was 5:05 p.m., so I was dumbfounded. A few minutes later, I entered again & said all I wanted was to get my eyebrows done(just in case they had misunderstood as to what I wanted), & they said they were«too busy»… There were only 2 customers there, so I’m not quite sure where the«too busy» comment derived from. Guess they don’t want customers. Fair enough. I wouldn’t suggest this place to anyone — definitely glad I didn’t spend my money. Never going back.

I made an appointment through my blowdry plan and this is the salon they gave me. I had never heard of it and didn’t even really know where it was. When I walked in(upstairs) I saw that it was a nail/hair place which I don’t normally see so I wondered how the blowout would be, but I shouldn’t have! Everyone that greeted me was SO nice! I loved how friendly everyone was. They told me Rosa would be doing my hair. She did an excellent wash and condition, my hair was so soft when she was done. And her blowout? OMG. It was one of the best I’ve ever had in my life! I have super curly, really coarse, dry, colored hair. It can be really hard to do, but Rosa made my hair soft and shiny and divine! I really couldn’t have asked for a better blowout! I wish I could come see her all the time, but my plan puts me at random places or I would totally go here all the time! Thank you, Rosa, my hair is gorgeous!

Don’t even think the utensils that they use are clean at all. it’s taken out of some used medical supply wrapper that’s taped together and their utensils had gunk in it. when doing the ball polish, the lady didn’t even give a crap. she just went polish happy.

Not good… Not good at all. Went for a quick blow out once. Was ok, stylist was rough and my hair ended up very flat. This is near my office and not expensive, so no big deal. Next time I got a mani/pedi. There are people on top of you when you’re in the pedi chair – next to the hair wash sinks – and on top of you when drying your nails — next to a hair station & below the polish bottles. No pedi massage, just slapped on some lotion(the massage is the best part of a pedi, no?!). During the manicure I was in an awkward position to soak my cuticles so I asked the nail tech to move the bowl so it could be in the line of my arm. So she moved the bowl then asked me to shift my chair. You shift your chair! I’m the client, right? Besides the weak massage, I would let the chair shifting and people on top of me go, since this is NYC and we all sacrifice space and who cares about shifting my chair even though I’m the customer. However since the following happened the entire experience began to annoy me so I’m laying it all out. What put me over the edge was they charge $ 6 extra for the weekly polish which is basically a special formula that goes on like regular polish with no base coat. Just two coats of the polish and then the special top coat. I had been to the Beauty Show at Javits so I had my own weekly polish and the special top coat. They charged me $ 3 on top of the regular manicure price to use my polish. I said why and the rude owner said it is normally $ 6 for the weekly products. I said that’s because normally one would use your products and they cost more than regular polish for you to purchase, but I am bringing my own and the process is the same as normal polish so I’m actually saving you money by not using your products. For weekly polish there’s no special lighting or materials(If I brought my own shellac polish I would expect to pay the same price as the service since they use foils and special lighting the more steps go into the process than a regular manicure). The weekly polish is just a polish made with a different formula that goes on like regular polish. It dries on a regular machine. I’m happy to pay for any special products or services, but to charge me extra for this was ridiculous. The owner acted like she was saving me money by not charging the full $ 6. I go to high end spas for my spa services, so I’m not cheap in any way, but don’t gauge me for a few dollars lady, I’ll stick to the place in my neighborhood who gives a nice massage and even rubs my shoulders for a few moments while drying. Also it is cold out, typically the nail technicians check and see if you’re dry and put plastic on your toes to ensure you don’t rub off the polish on your socks and tights. Nope not here. They don’t GAF. New Age is awful. Don’t bother.

The first time I went, I had a manicure and wash/blow dry done at the same time. Olga did my hair, and she was nice enough to do it while I was getting my manicure. The girl(I forget her name) did a great job with my nails and Olga did a great job with my hair. I have very thin and oily hair and it was voluminous for days! Best blowdry job EVER! I went again a week later, and another stylist did my hair bc Olga wasn’t available. She was nice too, except she kept answering her phone in the middle. I was already pressed for time so I didn’t appreciate that, but I can let that go if I lik ethe end result. Well, I had told her many times I wanted volume but JFC my hair was so flat and lifeless at the end. She overdid it on the smoothing. My hair is naturally silky so I dont’ need extra conditioner or oil. She didn’t put any product except oil at the ends, which I insisted only at the ends… she put it ALLOVER. I was so frustrated that I washed it after a day. This was the worst blow dry I’ve ever had, biggest waste $$ ever.

I go here to hair, not nails. I highly recommend Stella. I have very curly short hair, and Stella helped me grow it out over several months while shaping it nicely. She also straightens it for me and I am going to have her do my hair for my wedding in October. Trusting someone with your curls is a big deal. I can’t speak for anyone else at new age but Stella is great and the pricing is really fair. She only works Mondays and Tuesdays unless you make a special appointment.

Do not go here. I went and two days later an infection developed in my nail. I think the nail lady had my nail very deep. Clearly she is inexperienced. Also. The prices on their list are false. They add tax(even when you pay with cash!) DONOT recommend.

My teenage daughters have shoulder length and long hair. We were in NY today 3rd January when there was snow everywhere and freezing cold. I looked on Unilocal to find nearest hairdresser and found this salon so the girls could get their hair washed and blow dried rather than running around in cold. WEWERECOMPLETELYRIPPEDOFFBYTHISPLACE. Charged us $ 65 for long hair and $ 55 for medium hair notwithstanding the sign said $ 35 for long hair and $ 30 for medium hair. It is dodgy and you are charged according to what they think you can afford and not what the sign says. I couldn’t be bothered making a fuss, the girls were tired and we wanted to get back to our apartment. The blow dry was not special. Find somewhere else.

I am the queen of wash & blow dry while on vacation and business trips. imagine my horror when drybar couldn’t accommodate me on last weekend’s trip to NYC. I think they have 3 or 4 locations and the one i wanted was booked solid. Yes, there is definitely a need for decently priced wash & blow outs!!! I was in Saks 5th Avenue and they wanted $ 80 !!! couldn’t believe it. As i was walking back to my hotel in Times Square, i happened across a small salon that did manicures. I trotted upstairs and for $ 10 i had an incredible manicure. Out of the corner of my eye, I was watching this woman style a woman’s hair — beautiful. I asked if they did wash & blow outs. Yes. Dream come true. How much? Stella walked over and looked at my ratty hair…$ 50…really? I could live with that! The next day, I came back in the afternoon and Stella did a superb job on my hair. It was swingy and shiny and my boyfriend adored it. You must go here and ask for Stella. She is truly an artist and very thorough. I will definitely be back. Stay away from Saks!
