Got their naruto ramen as well as a the two bun combo(one chicken, one pork.) The buns were generic but pretty good. Maybe a high 2/low 3, probably the later as they weren’t super pricey. I liked how they served the broth as separate from the rest of the stuff. Very Good: Nitamago/egg, Pretty good: Noodles, veggies in there were fine as well. Good: The pork was one large piece, a large amount of fat but fine. Just different than normal. Fish cake needed a bit more flavor. Not so good: Broth One of the main things to think about with Ramen is a bit of balance. If there is too much well fat in the broth(well not in a good Tonkotsu style way,) it kinda prevents the enjoyment of the rest. I’ll give it a 2.5, mostly since it’s much less expensive than other ramen places. But honestly, they somehow took pork fat and made it flavorless.

If you want to experience cheap, poor quality ramen, this is the place. I have had many ramen places in NYC, and Naruto is by far the worst. You get less than what you pay for. I ordered a Naruto Ramen with spicy. When it came, basically they just dumped Chili powder all in it to make it spicy, therefore it was the cheapest way of making spicy ramen. There is NOQUALITY to the noodles nor the eggs. Eating here is like eating at a McDonalds. Lots of crap and unhealthy ingredients. The cooks are warming everything up. Everything is already pre made. I know the ramen here is Cheap, but at least prepare he ramen with decency. I don’t ever put negative reviews like this, but this was absolutely a rip off and definitely not a place I’d recommend anyone to come back to. Thank you! Michiko

We were in the neighborhood and thought ramen would hit the spot for the cold winter day — but we were disappointed — I admit, I may have ordered the wrong ramen flavor — so you’ll have to try something else to see if the place can be better. Naruto ramen(soy sauce base) for $ 10 — found it bland and oily/buttery — we asked for extra soy sauce and it helped add flavor — the egg was very delicious — pork was fine — noodles were a bit too soft for my liking(over-cooked) Tokyo Fried Chicken for $ 5 — was decent Gyoza -$ 5 — was decent, nothing special — probably taken out of a freezer packaged bag If you come on the weekend, you can combine the ramen with gyoza for $ 12.50! Other available ramen favors: miso, spicy miso, curry and vegetarian. They also have tan-tan ramen. Other food items: spam and egg musubi, rice balls, and other appetizer items Good luck and don’t come here with a big crowd(there are only six bar seats)

Who am I to really judge this place. The only comparison I have is packaged ramen that costs ten cents. Let’s be honest though. I’ve had more flavor in a package of ramen than what I got from Naruto. Everything tastes very fresh, which was great, but the blandness ruined the meal for me. I had the Miso Ramen. It was visually appealing, and the texture of the noodles was perfect. Everything was cooked well. Perhaps salting the water would have given flavor to the pasta. The pork was also very bland. Overall, it was a completely forgettable experience.

Service is ok, food is quick, and it’s an easy solution if you just want to put food in the stomach and not be bothered with hunger no more and I’ve really explained all the down-lo on this place. Why do I say that? Well ithe food is really nowhere near good. It’s edible for sure but nothing beyond that. The miso soup base is pretty greasy yet surprisingly flavourless — I wasn’t sure exactly what I was eating, cause I couldn’t taste it. The gyoza was really burnt on the skin. I’ve also had vegetable ramen here before; it was literally salt water + veggie + noodle. I guess the only good thing about the food is that the meat is pretty tender and the noodle is somewhat chewy; yet other than that… NAH — - I can cook this at home! The noodle cost from 10 – 12, which is only 2 – 4 dollars cheaper than your average ramen place and way less in terms of taste. In conclusion? Come only if you just need something to chow down and leave without regret. PS: There’s only 5 seats total in this small establishment; don’t try to bring your army of posse here.

Lovely little ramen shop. Space is very limited. However, their ramen is very delicious. Reasonable price.

I absolutely love this place. Is it divine ramen? No. If you want Ippudo, go to Ippudo. Don’t come here expecting the same quality ramen and complain when you don’t get it. IF, however, you want GOOD ramen that is quick and cheap($ 10 including tax for the classic ramen), you absolutely can’t go wrong here. It’s my favorite place to eat solo after work. Always a very satisfying experience.

Naruto managed to satisfy my ramen cravings, but it wasn’t really a satisfying meal. This location is express, meaning that the eat-in portion of this restaurant is minuscule(about six seats) and most of the business is done in takeout/delivery orders. I don’t think ramen translates to delivery super well, as there’s really something important about the presentation of the bowl. We were able to eat in as on this Sunday evening the restaurant was otherwise abandoned. The guy who took our order was pretty nice and brought our orders out promptly. I ordered the curry ramen, which came with pork, bean sprouts, corn, carrot, menma, an egg, and decent noodles. The curry flavor was good, but the consistency was way too thick. It tasted as if it had recently been in paste form. The rest of the ingredients were fine, but nothing exciting. My boyfriend had the chicken cutlet ramen; the chicken was good but the broth really unremarkable. It all tasted like a decent but fast-food version of ramen.

Going to Naruto is a little bittersweet for me. As the sister restaurant to the now-defunct Terakawa Ramen, it offers a sad substitute to what its more spacious and delicious sibling once did. That said, this little six-seater hole-in-the-wall is as good as it gets(as far as I’m aware) when it comes to rich, fatty, brothy soups in the Flatiron-ish area. For around a tenner, you can get in and out for lunch in under half an hour. Having only tried a handful of their dishes, I can confidently state that their spicy miso ramen left me disappointed, but their curry ramen is utterly satisfying, in the most lipid-ly food coma-inducing way. Imagine a gut-bomb in liquid form and you pretty much have the right idea. Just make sure you can find a bottle of shichimi spice to give your broth an extra kick. Considering the dearth of acceptable ramen near our office, Naruto at least ticks all the boxes for me. You won’t find me here after hours, though — once you expand your search outside of the neighborhood, superior options abound.

For an express ramen joint, this place should really learn how to pick up their phone. Called once, and got put on hold for 10 mins. Hung up to call a second time and it’s been busy ever since. Probably made about over 8 calls at this point because gosh dangit I want some ramen!!!

I was heading to see a movie at Kip’s Bay and I stopped into Naruto beforehand as it’s the only ramen near the theater. I had the Tan Tan Men. It was unremarkable. The broth lacked depth or personality. I left totally unsatisfied and I can’t imagine I’ll return. I asked for a glass of water to drink with my soup and was told they do not serve water to customers. I had to buy a diet coke. Really? The space is tiny and cramped. There is really only seating for four adults. They supply you those tiny teaspoon-sized disposable ramen spoons that I can’t stand. It makes getting through your soup like eating a bowl of peas one pea at a time.

Honesty more of a 2.5 star rating. Came here with a friend the other day and ordered 2 ramen dishes. Both broths were very basic and the noodles tasted as if they were from those freeze dried packs. The pork fried dumplings were not, though! This place is tiny and fits 6 people ATMOST.

Solid 3.5 stars. Tiny joint that fits only 6 people. I came here on a Sunday afternoon with a friend to have late lunch. Upfront arriving we were greeted by the two people behind the counter. Surprisingly they weren’t Asian/Japanese. I was a little skeptical about the chefs cooking skills… Nonetheless the spicy miso ramen didn’t disappoint. For $ 12 you get a huge bowl of ramen consisting of one char Sui, corn, half egg, cabbage, bamboo shoots and bean sprouts. The noodles were also perfectly al dente. It was generally tasty but I didn’t like that there was so much oil! And my char Sui was way too fatty… Didn’t end up finish the ramen(mind you my friend and I also stayed for 30mins failing to finish our bowls). I can’t really comment too much about the broth since the fattiness overwhelmed my taste buds. But one thing I can say is that it wasn’t extremely salty or full of msg. The restaurant also has Japanese animé music playing in the background. It was awkwardly very fitting. After all it is naruto ramen! Probably will come back to try their curry ramen sometimes. But that’s before I try all other joints around the neighborhood b

I had the Naruto Ramen. It was very average. Soup was like the ones you find in a small city in Japan in a run down restaurant in a old department store which don’t specialize in ramen. So it’s not bad, but not great. Noodle was average, chashu so-so. 2.5 stars

Tiny place with a few seats at the counter. The ramen was fairly mediocre and was even more disappointing when it took a while to prepare. With the ramen fever that’s sweeping NYC, there are far better places to go to get your ramen fix. The noodles were fine, but the broth was weak and had no depth of flavor.

This teeny tiny place is great for lunch if you’re lucky enough to get one of the few seats in the house. Like many places in this ‘hood, the early bird gets the worm in terms of avoiding crowds so I’d recommend an 1130am lunch if you can handle it. ’ The place feels super authentic and I like that they treat ramen like the casual working lunch that it is in Japan versus the overpriced gourmet treatment that a lot of NYC places give it. It comes out quickly on a tray and at $ 10 it’s a pretty darn good deal. I really enjoyed my miso ramen, especially with some corn added in. I love that they have curry on the menu — Japanese curry is my weakness. I’ll definitely be back for that! It’s a cash only place, so make sure you hit the ATM before stopping by!

I ordered the spicy miso ramen and it was the regular broth with spicy chili flakes. What?! The handmade Gyoza was edible, but lacked the more firm crispy texture it needs. This place is far from authentic, but it’s one of the only places around where we live, so I guess beggars can’t be choosers. Probably not coming back for ramen. Also cash only is highly outdated and annoying. Not expecting apple pay, but cash only to avoid merchant fees on the restaurants part and putting the burden on the customer says something about what the owners think.

Cheap noodles, rich flavor. I came here with a friend after a night of heavy drinking. First ones in this tiny shop, we sat down and ordered the Naruto Classic, noodles with veggies, pork cutlet, egg, and soy sauce broth. It totally revitalized us and made us feel alive again. You can also order food, but I think on a quiet day, nothing beats eating in the cramped resturaunt.

After first trying Naruto at the UES location, I was ecstatic when this shop opened near my apartment a year and half ago. The ramen is awesome(I can never decide if I prefer the Spicy Miso or the Curry). Broths are either soy or curry based, and tend to be a super flavorful — but a bit greasy at times. The boiled eggs are great, and the pork is always plentiful in every bowl. As for the buns, I prefer the(crispy) chicken over the pork, but both are very yummy. Cash only, and quick service make this place perfect for a quick post work meal.
