I’m writing this review less for the market itself than for the OH-MY-GOSH-THIS-IS-THE-SOFTEST-YET-STILL-CHEWY-GIANT-GINGER-SNAP-COOKING-I’VE-EVER-HAD-IN-MY-LIFE! Housed between the vegetable & fruits vendors are local bakers, who come with all sorts of pies and cookies. I came across the ginger snap one day, when I was around Mt. Sinai and heard a lady in a white cloak saying to her friend, «Oh my gosh their ginger snap cookies are so good.» I have tried quite a few ginger snap cookies before and had yet to be captivated. They all were either too gingery or too snappy, so I never quite got what the combination«ginger snap» really meant… until… I used a two-dollar coupon the market gives out and marched into the stand!!! They were almost out of it by the time I had got there, but I think I got the second to last piece. ANDOH. MYGOSH. THATISWHATTHEFOUNDERSOFTHEGINGERSNAPCOOKIEMEANTFORTHECOOKIETOBE. OHHH myyyyy GAWSHHHHHH. Whenever I eat it, I think about the cinnamon vanilla ice cream that should accompany it(preferably its warmed up version), so that the two melt in your mouth together. The bakers create a thin cookie with great diameter, so that you can enjoy it slowly and perpetually… Last time, I sheltered it for two days because the market only meets once a week. I had to keep it out of sight to refrain from jumping onto it. The girl there is also so nice. The last time I returned, she(probably because I go to get her cookie every week) even gave me a chocolate chip cookie for free, since I couldn’t decide if I wanted to use my two-dollar coupon to prove my loyalty to the ginger snap or to try another goodie which could be as delicious! Go, go, go! Eat their ginger snap cookie!!! I believe the same bakery is also at Union Square on Wednesdays, though the sellers are different people. Now, as for the parts of the market other than the bakery, they’re also pretty cool. They have all sorts of vegetables, but, unlike at the larger markets, there are only two or three vendors. Still, if you’re buying arugula, who needs ten vendors when you’re going to buy it from just one anyway, right? To enter the market, the farmers have to go through a selection process anyway, so they’re pretty much the same in my opinion. You don’t need ten of them. But now… on Wednesday. don’t forget the GINGERSNAPCOOKIE =)
