Ming’s is solid! 3 stars for food, 4 stars for convenience, speed, and authenticity. Definitely come here if you’re looking to get a quick bite to eat. It’s not much of a restaurant to look at but I really love the cantonese/hong kong style snacks that are hard to find elsewhere in Manhattan Chinatown. I almost always get a variety of the appetizers — my favorite is the fish balls with rice noodles and special sauce or curry sauce — both are made fresh to order for some ridiculous price like $ 3.50. Next time I’ll get the macaroni soup with spam and eggs, I haven’t had that for ages!

Mings is a great place for takeout or for a quick meal for a small party. It is family run Hong Kong/Cantonese restaurant. The menu is large. Prices are low. Portions are large. Food is fresh. I have only come for takeout and my favorites are Beef Chow Fun and Amoy or Singapore rice vermicelli noodles. All are $ 6.75. In addition the man at the counter is nice and knowledgable. I have gotten the pearl pan fried noodles as well($ 7.95) but would pass on that. Note they are closed on Sundays(family day) and rather early at 9pm. They are conveniently located literally steps away from the F east Broadway subway station.

I used to come here when I lived in Chinatown. For what they offer, Ming’s is a great place to stop and grab a meal if you are passing by. It’s a Cantonese style café, has cheap breakfast combos, a LOT of lunch and snack options, and drinks. Tipping is optional, there is HKTV if you are interested, and the staff is very friendly and will recognize you and remember your«usual order» if you frequent enough times. If you have difficulty deciding what to eat, the manager will always be more than happy to recommend something that you might like. Definitely a homey/casual, turned nostalgic spot for me, and I will always come back for more even though I no longer live nearby.

Hong Kong café style to go food. Can sit down or take out. Fried chicken or pork chop over fried rice or spaghetti.

I’m surprised this place has not gotten enough recognition. Great location and delicious food. As mention before, it’s right outside the F train station. Pretty inexpensive for such a large portion — enough for me to save for lunch later — and the best part for me; they’re open 7am! I was running all over the place for a restaurant that was serving at this time.(Had to find a place to grab some breakfast before boarding a bus to Philadelphia) I’m so glad I found this place. The man at the counter was really friendly and helpful. Even when there was a long line he kindly banged my entrée for me. The restaurant was packed at 7:30am, on a Wednesday! Wow! Will be coming back. Oh, by the way, I ordered the beef chow fun with no veggie. You could request for them to make your entrée spicy!

This place is unsanitary and the service is horrible, half way through my ice coffee I noticed something small and black floating inside my drink. Turns out to be a freaking roach, I will definitely not come back to this place. The food and drinks here aren’t even that great and most likely contaminated. Come here at your own risk of getting food poisoned.

I can’t say much seeing how I only got dumplings, but I can say that they aren’t bad. The place isn’t very busy giving reason to the small size of the place, however there’s still a sense of space in the room. Nine tables, each with two seats. This seems like it would be a good place to do work, as it isn’t very noisy with the exception of the tv. The train is nearby which is also good, one of the reasons I came. The dumplings are alright $ 2 for 4. I’ve had smaller ones for a similar price, as well as bigger ones for a little bit more. I ate 8 and I’m still hungry. They taste okay. Perhaps a meal would do better, but portions look small.

Nothing too fancy here. It got a little bit of everything. There are some seating here and they serve you with styrofoam plates if you dine in. Ordered the satay beef instant with coffee. It was a good deal for $ 3.95. Fast service. Food was mediocre. Had better at other places but cant really complain because it is cheap and fast.

They are right downstairs from my flat. If you make friends with the manager, he’ll give you the password to their wifi. Their staff mostly speaks Canto, but if you talk to the manager, he speaks English. I recommend the Spicy Chicken Spaghetti(interesting mix of Chinese/non-Chinese taste) or really anything off their specials menu on the whiteboard to your left as you walk in the door facing the counter. Extremely clean place for Chinatown, and friendly staff.

I’ve ordered a few times from here for take out. the food is pretty decent. the prices are pretty cheap compared to some other places. it’s not the best food i’ve had but it’s definitely not the worse. i’ve came here to get take out once when school was back in session and it seems like a local hangout for students… it was a bit noisy but it wasn’t so bad. they do have a tv so you can watch either the chinese drama that’s showing or the news — probably depending on what time you go. but i will definitely be back to try out more dishes in the near future!

The place is small inside. Seating wise I’m guesstimating it fits about 15 people. The place is filled with menus all over the walls. Theres many things to choose from. From sandwiches to small dim sum plates to smoothies and bubble tea. Everything is more than reasonably priced for what they serve. It’s very no frills and not the most fanciest of presentation, but that holds true to what most Hong Kong style restaurant are like. For the price and simplicity of every dish it’s a great spot for lunch.

If you’re looking for a quick bite, this is the place to go. If you’re looking for something a little more, this isn’t the place for you. They have an extensive menu of both drinks and food(breakfast and your traditional«orders»). I’ve actually had this place a few times and the food is just mediocre. Good enough to satisfy your hunger, but that’s really about it. It’s an option if you’re in the area and just need something quick, but that’s about it.

I’ve come here at least a dozen times or more so far. Inexpensive, decent quality, and lots of options. Extremely wonderful customer service. I believe this place is owned by someone named Ming, which is why it is called Ming’s Caffe. I highly recommend getting take-out here if your stomach is growling in anger, and if you are in the area. If you want to stay with some friends after getting destroyed in handball, volleyball, tennis, or basketball at Seward Park nearby, there are enough tables to seat your entire squad. There is a TV if you have nothing better to do while eating or waiting for your food. I will, however, warn that when I say decent quality, «decent» is probably the most you’ll get in the food you order. But it’s worth the price, that’s for sure.

I’ve came here for a handful of times throughout the last few years because of the convenience of this place and the quality of its food for its price. $ 5 to $ 6 can buy you just about anything on the menu, and you’ll leave feeling satisfied. Today, I was in the area and I decided to stop by for lunch since I haven’t eaten for the whole day. I ordered a curry chicken on rice with a watermelon slush on the side, and that came to a total of about $ 8. The food came out in about 10 minutes and I was pretty satisfied with the meal. Everything went great until I found an eyelash/nose hair/ear hair(whatever you call it) in my food. Generally this place is pretty clean and I continued to eat everything because I was hungry. The owner is really friendly and there’s a television showing Chinese dramas if you’re interested. Would I be back? Sure!

The food in this hole in the wall Chinese take-out/eat-in is way better than your typical neighborhood westernized takeout. The food is authentic Cantonese style. It’s a no frills restaurant where food is served on styrofoam and plastic dishes/forks if you decide to eat-in. Tipping is optional but most don’t. If you’re in the area and don’t want to venture into Chinatown for a bowl of congee, consider Ming’s for a quick Chinese meal…

Ming’s Caffe is a Hong Kong-style café restaurant located in a gritty but quickly gentrifying area of the Lower East Side, right on the border of Chinatown. It is located right outside the East Broadway F train stop. Get off at the East Broadway entrance and turn left on Canal Street and you’re there. The major charm of this restaurant is the fact that it is the last holdover of a quickly diminishing number of Cantonese restaurants in Chinatown, especially in this fringe location bordering the LES and Chinatown. Wing Shoon restaurant has recently closed, and now this is the only real Cantonese restaurant with true seating in the area. Nearby Sunkist Bakery has 3 seats, but is really a take-out restaurant. At Ming’s you will find more than decent rice plates, bubble tea, noodle dishes, congee, a small assortment of dim sum and hong kong style dishes like toast, milk tea, macaroni soup, etc. I’ve sampled many dishes here, and in many ways, I feel the quality is above average as far as Hong Kong-style cafes are concerned. I love the fact that their menu is so large and that they have specials written on a white boards and in pictures surrounding the dining room. The biggest problem here is making a choice of which Cantonese goodies to choose. I must admit that the dining room isn’t hip at all. It is brightly lit, and has at least six four-seat tables inside. The walls look a tad dingy, but ok. There’s also a large screen on one of the walls showing Hong Kong television adding to the HK aura. Take out will usually take about 10 minutes to cook as everything is done to order. I don’t mind the wait. A good recent example was when I ordered a $ 3.25 fried chicken leg. The cashier told me it would take about 10 minutes to cook. She was right and it was delicious. The one consistent thing about Ming’s is the friendly service. The cashiers all speak Cantonese and English and I’m pretty sure they speak Mandarin too. Finally, prices are reasonable here and are in fact a tad cheaper than the recently closed Wing Shoon for reference. If you’re in the area for good Cantonese food and don’t want to walk into Chinatown itself, this is the place to go!

Local Chinese place. Lunch for around five bucks, and many of the customers are English speaking. The guy at the register can help a little if you don’t know what you want. He isn’t amazing at it, but most shopkeepers in Chinatown have zero ability in that so it’s better than nothing. I got chicken and broccoli a couple of times and then I started picking random items. I discovered pork chop and tomato that way. It has a tiny bit of fried breading like general tsao’s but a different flavor(tomato). And it’s thin pork chops instead of chicken. Right around the corner from the north exit of the East Broadway stop, downtown side.

I love this cha chaan tang. It is a small place, kind of divey, but it has Hong Kong style snacks and even cherng fun(rice rolls). I recommend it if you miss Hong Kong condensed milk toast, H.K. style tea with milk, or their wonton noodles. :) You bus your own table, but the prices are affordable and the seating is about 10 people. I even saw specials like sauteed seafood noodles and fried pork chop. I am excited about this cozy haunt. Plus, you can watch all the TVB specials your heart desires. The staff speaks Cantonese, Mandarin, and English fluently. :)
