I love this place. The sandwiches they made are the best in the town. I love their Baklawa. They got cold cuts from all around the world. I will recommend this place to everyone who loves food.

Low key place but a really great sandwich selection made with pride and care. Been coming here since ’94 ! And will continue to do so

2HOURDELIVERYWAITTIME! Not acceptable, inexcusable! Didn’t even bother to update me until I called them. Food was nothing special. I could’ve just cooked something or eaten in somewhere else. Wasted my lunch break. Left my front door open… ughhhhh

Tasty sandwiches, good friendly service. Gourmet ingredients. Good place to grab a sandwich on-the-go. I usually grab a cold cut or chicken cutlet sandwich on some nice fresh Italian bread with and a can of soda. I’d recommend going here if you’re hungry for a nice meal. They’re open late also while many other places are closed. The guy at the counter will also help you select what you might want, as there are many many options. Good stuff generally.

Love stopping by here to support a local small owner run shop. I buy cheese here a lot — always good quality and price

I like this place. The people who work here are so damn nice. It’s also conveniently located, although you can easily overlook it. It took me over a year to give this place a try, but I’m glad I did! It’s definitely better than the average deli. They have a lot of salami options — a counter full! Their charcuterie selections are great and they are also very eager to give you recommendations and samples. They usually tell you what are the freshest items in the house, which is nice. I liked the pistachio baklava. It was fresh and delicious. They have a large selection of condiments too — all stashed on the wall. They also have a large selection of snacks, including quite a few options for chocolate covered pretzels. :) The cheese selection is disappointing because you can get better, or at least, less marked up items in the supermarket. I wish I had tried the tabouli salad before buying it. There was way too much parsley to my taste. I would definitely like to give their sandwiches a try soon, and will probably become a regular now. haha

Completely botched my order, refused to refund me for a chicken caesar that had no chicken but lots of anchovies, cold falafel balls,(they expect me to heat them) and wrong bread delivery, why bother offering exotic bread choices if you are going to just provide a generic white bread hunk.

I’m really not sure who is writing these reviews. We just grabbed something for dinner here. The personnel was very friendly and very fond of their food — they let me try stuff but all the food was really bland and it’s 7.99/half lb= $ 16 /lb. seriously? It’s a small deli people. It’s twice as much as whole foods bar. Pasta salad for $ 16/lb? I only realized it later. We got 2 spinach stuffed chicken cutlets, 2 pies — spinach and chicken and a small container of tabouli. $ 38. Chicken breast was fine. Spinach pie was good, chicken was more like curried samosa stuffing, not sure there even was chicken there. Tabouli was flat out rotten. I wish I tried tabouli before buying it, because I added organic heirloom tomatoes I had at home and then ended up tossing the whole thing. I’m not going back for $ 16/spinach stuffed chicken.

Baklava was hard dry and not good, hummus was watery, baba Ganoush was just wrong, the pitas weren’t even made there they were given to me in a BAG like straight put of a grocery store, the«grilled panini hot sandwiches» were COLDONBAGUETTEBREAD which I may add was not good. Don’t know what the Unilocalers Below me were saying«favorite» Place !!! Huh ? Not up to standard with Mediterranean middle eastern food at ALLL. Not authentic, Everythjng tasted like it came from pre made food.

My absolute favorite middle eastern food on the UES. Now that they moved locations, the little seating they had at their other location is gone so this is really only takeout, but takeout I have walked through pouring rain to get. The owners are friendly and generous with their tastings and portions and the hummus, spinach and feta pies and salmon are phenomenal. Great place and I am happy it is only ten or so blocks away but happier that I stumbled by the new location by mistake.

The place is extremely small and over packed with items, making it really uncomfortable if more than one customer is in the store. Nothing is made in-house. If you happen to buy something on the day it was delivered, it’s usually pretty good. However many days later they still have the same salads displayed that they are trying to sell and everything just looks old. I agree with another poster who said the baklava was the worst they’ve ever had. There aren’t words to express how bad tasting it was. I can’t help but wonder how long it was sitting there. I have had their chocolate covered pretzels which were good.

This place has the worst baklava I’ve ever had. We both agreed that they did not taste fresh, and the layers of dough still seemed doughy and raw. The outer layer of the baklava even seemed greasy. Never again.

The best local spot for Middle Eastern sweets: halvah, date jam, Turkish delights, baklava, and more — all in a cozy, amiable space packed wall-to-wall with treats. Reminds me a bit of Damascus Pastry Shop in Brooklyn by Sahadi’s; less selection here but it’s still the best in the neighborhood. Thus don’t be surprised by the lone 1-star review below: coming here for Italian sandwiches is like going to a dim sum joint for sushi; it’s just not their forte despite relative(sea-separated!) geographical proximity. For sandwiches, better to visit big-sis Mélange Food Fair a few blocks up on the other side of the street.

Tried this place for lunch on Sun. Ordered a tuna and one of their italian special combo sandwiches. They plastered the tuna with so much vinegar it was barely palatable. The bread they used was hard and tasted like it has been sitting out for a couple of days. I like cheap food but it’s got to be edible. What a waste of money !!! On a slightly higher note, their chicken pies were quite decent, I would definitely go back for them it I were within a 2 block radius. Otherwise, not worth my time even thinking about it.

Truly a gem of a place all around! 90% of the time when you walk in you will be greeted by Shid(Sheed)always smiling and kind hearted to a fault. He makes me feel more welcome here then I do in my own home and I live alone! If you are unsure of what you want, Shid will gladly let you sample things to you find what you like. I do not know of any other store in the city that will do this for you. The really great thing is that once you do become a regular and he knows what you like he will tell you about his latest new arrivals in the shop and as always will let you sample them free of charge. How they can cram so many goodies in such a tiny space is a complete wonder! Their cold cuts are always fresh and tender and the cheeses they carry are just extraordinary! There’s also countless mustard’s, olive oil’s, jam’s and other condiment’s that will make your sandwich a great one! I personally have never had anything that has been premade there but I can also tell you that no one I know has ever had a bad word to say that has had them, so if that’s the way you want to go by all means do it. Anyone who buy’s a sandwich or cold cuts at another spot that lives in the area is not getting the quality they deserve

I walked past this place with my beau and then walked back; I’m not sure what quite compelled me — the baklava, the cuteness of the little store, or the various cheeses laid out on the table outside, but I’m really glad we did! What a wonderfully friendly gentleman behind the counter! So pleasant and happy; I wanted to sample everything like a kid in a candy store! Take a good look around when you walk in, and take in all the foods on the shelves and hidden treasures everywhere. It’s really a tasty feast of sweets and treats that are scarce; make the effort to stop in and just say hi. I bet you’ll leave smiling, and with either homemade or walnut baklava; I bought both for $ 5. Winning!!! But then I know you’re asking, «Why 3 stars?! I just put this place in my GPS!» Well, both baklava were dry and lacked the ever critical moistness that is an absolute must in all baklava lore. I had HUGE expectations, but I’ve had so much better in other places. Stop in, say hello, and maybe you’ll have been luck than me on the baklava quality.

I come here weekly for my supply of sarma(stuffed grape leaves) and tabbouleh(cracked wheat with tomatoes and parsley salad). The men who own Mélange are SO nice — the friendliest one(I forget his name) is Egyptian. Last year, after ending a unit on Ancient Greece, I bought my students a platter of baklava from here(they all loved it). The guys gave me a really good deal, too, which endeared them to me even more. Their homemade baklava is heavenly… and as a connoisseur of baklava from many middle eastern countries, I definitely choose the ones from Mélange over other places. My favorite are the super sweet triangle shaped ones made with walnuts. MMMMMM. One of the smaller ones I had once(made with pistachios) was really dry, so if you have a super sweet tooth like myself, go for the ooey-gooey ones :) Recently I ordered some of their homemade hummous and it tasted… well…not very authentic. A little watered down in consistency. Everything else though, I absolutely love. OOO and a bonus — often they have samples out of their dips. What’s not to love!!!

Yum, I love it here. Way better than Mélange on 64th because its sooooo much bigger. Get the falafel wrap, its delicious. They always have one or two of their dips to try out. Very large selection of Mediterranean dips, hummus, veggies, cheeses, platters, desserts etc. And the people that work there are so nice! 4 stars because I’m not always sure how«fresh» their homemade stuff is. One time I bought a cheese and sun-dried tomato spread and it tasted kind of funky.
