It was delicious. Great service: BUT not Persian. More like Lebanese. Which was fine because we love Lebanese too. Slightly pricey but food was so good it was ok!

Pros: The chicken was super fresh and very juicy and tasty. I will be back for sure. The hummus was good and the babaganoush was also great. They had free hot tea. The staff were extremely friendly and made me feel welcome. This is important as other persian-style grills in the area are just like the soup nazi. The inside of the place was clean with plenty seating. They had a recycling bin which I felt was thoughtful. It was not noisy inside. The sauces were really good I will be back for the sauces alone. I also liked that they were flexible with my order as I asked for half/half of one of the side items. Cons: the pickled salad stuff was not the best. The chicken portion was small. I personally like to fill up on chicken and protein and the size of the chicken portion was half of what I am used to from other Mediterranean places such as naya express or omars. It’s probably 3 times smaller than omar’s for the same price. Also, since everything is made fresh and it’s not a large volume place, it took about 10 – 12 min to prepare.

This place needs 10 stars… Hands down the best Middle Eastern food I have had in the New York… but also pretty much anywhere else. I had the chicken plate and homemade lemonade. You can tell they are very passionate about there food and lots of love goes into it. I’ve already told my friends and will be back again soon. Thanks guys

I love this restaurant and get food from here at least twice every week. The chicken kebab is exceptional — fresh, well cooked and reasonably priced. Coupled with the pickled vegetables, hummus and the rice with raisins, this meal really wows me every time! What really sets this restaurant apart is the service — the guys there are extremely friendly, always remember my name and I really enjoy drinking some hot tea(provided for free) and chatting with them each time I’m there. Cheers guys, keep it up!

The chicken kebab with kabuli rice is my favorite. The meat is deliciously marinated and moist. The rice is perfection. The sides are on point. It’s like eating a home cooked meal!

The food is delicious! They use fresh and wholesome ingredients. It took a little longer than I expected to have my food delivered but the wait was worth it. I hope they improve their delivery service. I’m definitely eating there again.

Stumbled across this place while strolling on Rivington. Had the kufta sandwich. Pretty good with a decent selection of fillings. The guy working there was very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in his patrons.

I’m quite impressed by this place. It’s a cellar style hole-in-the-wall restaurant. You can do take out or eat in. I ordered the platter with the chicken kebab and hummus. It was perfectly flavored and so tender. In addition to the food being amazing the guys behind the counter are very friendly and accommodating. So glad I found this place. Definitely a good choice.

Ordered the Chicken Kebab Platter $ 11.75(Tender cubes of chicken breast marinated and grilled to perfection. Choice of Toppings: Qabli Rice(carrots and raisins)) via Eat24 and they decided they’d open late that day and completely ignore Eat24 and not call the customer when Eat24 finally got in touch with them an hour after the order was set to be picked up. They offered no refund and forced me to rectify with Eat24. FWIW gMaps says it’s reported closed because it tries to use the former spot at the address, Pok Pok Phat Thai.

Stopped in for a chicken kebab wrap tonight and it was pretty good, but far from great. My main gripes were that the chicken was a tiny bit on the dry side and that my «wrap» came in a standard sundried tomato tortilla. For anyone who has enjoyed a Schwarma or kebab in a chewy delicious Laffa, this was a real disappointment. Other than that, the flavors were good, the veggies were fresh and crunchy, so all good there. Finally, they don’t have meat all ready to go, so it took a good 10 minutes to get my food. Compare that to a Mamoun’s where you are in and out in 2 minutes and it is also a bit of a disappointment. Bottom line, this place probably won’t crack my rotation, but might make an occasional appearance if one of my starters goes down with some shoulder soreness.

Just getting back in town at Penn station from weeks of traveling, I was starved and knew I had no food at home. A quick search of grub hub revealed Mazeish Grill, which I had not seen on Grub Hub before. I saw good things about the Chicken Kebab Bowl, and after a few taps in my cab ride home it was ordered. It came before the estimated delivery, by a cheerful and courteous delivery person. This was the perfect order. Deliciously marinated and moist chicken, flavorful rice with pops of sweet raisins, pickled veggies and fantastic hummus. It came with 2 pitas and 3 small containers of sauces(next time I’ll request extra white sauce!). This meal far exceeded every persian/Mediterranean meal I’ve had in the city. It was clearly fresh and made from high quality ingredients. I will certainly order again, and hopefully make it to their restaurant!

Incredible food! Huge portion size for a great price! I got the falafel platter($ 7.50) the tabbouleh salad($ 5) and the stuffed grape leaves($ 3). The falafel platter came with rice, hummus, salad, and pita bread. The tabbouleh salad also came with pita bread. My only complaint was that the tabbouleh salad was a bit grainy. Other than that, I have absolutely no qualms! I got the food delivered via . The food came super fast and the delivery guy was friendly. Also, all my food was hot! That, my friends, is an incredible feat! I highly recommend this place and I can’t wait to become a regular!

Walked in on a sweltering day to be offered some delicious hot tea. A kebab platter, which was decent, was $ 12 with tax. The serving is for about 1.5 to 2 meals. The kebab was a bit dry, but helped by the three sauces included, spicy, creamy, tahini. There is also a side of pickled vegetables and salad. The rice had an interesting touch with spices and raisin, but in the end was a bit mushy and greasy. The hummus was gooey, but still worthy to get scooped up by the fluffy warm pita.

I love this place! Not only is the service AMAZOMG(new word) the food is delish. I would’ve never found this cute basement eatery if it weren’t for the handy Unilocal app. Having had mediocre luck with affordable food in NYC I’m glad I found this place at 10.35pm on a Tuesday night. As soon as I walked in, I was pleasantly greeted by the guys behind the counter. And after placing my order(I had the chicken platter), the other guy in the kitchen runs out and hands me a piece of Kufta to try and taste — it was super yummy and I wished I could’ve back pedaled my order. Then I was offered some spice tea(for free). How amazing is that? The platter is starts at $ 9 and varies depending on your choice of meat(Kufta comes up to $ 12)and comes with long grain basmati rice cooked with spices and sultanas, a small serve of salad, a choice of dip(hummus, Greek yoghurt, or whatever else is the day’s special) and pitta bread. It’s a massive serve and I only regret not being able to finish all of it. The platter also comes with 3 additional sauces — some ranch-like sauce, yoghurt type sauce and chili(very spicy). The tea served is nice and refreshing after a long day. I’m not sure if its traditional but think chai spiced tea but with stronger tea accents and without any sweeteners. If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend dropping in. They also have an entertaining playlist that ranges from Aqua, Bryan Adams to AHA.

The staff were friendly and helpful and enthusiastic. Eating here was delightful. And the food(falafel platter and chicken sandwich) was good. Just sadly not great. If they could steal the falafel recipe from nish nush or taim then the fifth star would be theirs.

Group was hungry after Escape the Room, and this was right around the corner. While kebab ordering tend to be intimidating for me, this had a very straightforward menu that alleviated anxiety for first time orders. — First, pick what you wanted: a platter, sandwich or wrap. — Then, you pick what you want inside. — Last, you pick your toppings. Not sure? Get everything! While the place is a bit small, it fit our group since we were the only group there. Service was great and accommodating. And it even came with free tea(tasted like chai or some sort of spiced tea). — Fries: hot and fresh — Chicken kebab sandwich: filling, healthy, delicious.

When word appeared that the old Pok Pok Pad Thai space was being replaced by a Persian grill, I hoped the new space would recreate the boundary pushing innovation that Andy Ricker brought to a rather staid dish. Unfortunately while there is a trick or two in the menu, Mazeish is ultimately a just-fine kebab place. The interior, a subterranean space on Rivington that seats just over a dozen, hasn’t been completely reimagined. Eggplant now dominates where green once held sway. Most of the seating is away from the line, so there’s little chance of having to eat while someone awkwardly stands next to you. The rice is «Persian» but with a spice or two swiped out it could be from Turkey or Saudi Arabia or Lebanon. My kebab was moist and pretty nice, although not to the heavenly levels achieved at Kestane Kebab in Greenpoint(let alone what I’ve experienced in actual Central Asia). The price point is fair and the portion(which includes a side such as baba solid). The bread is hard, uninteresting and in a too small portion for dipping, but that’s my only complaint. I wanted something bolder, but this will do.

The beauty of this spot is that it’s on the same block as my standing Monday appointment, and is the only shop that can offer a semi-fast meal at affordable prices($ 5⁄6). So, I went in for a falafel sandwich on whole wheat pita with hummus and the filling works. First two things I noticed, how friendly and welcoming the owner was. He offered tea while I waited, which took me a bit aback since I was in a Monday mood. The other great thing was that there was no credit card minimum like the other joint around here, so my credit-card-points-loving self was pleased. The card reader didn’t want to read my card, so it was entered manually, but no other payment snafus after that.(It does make me skeptical of all these new iPad point-of-service payment technologies, though, since this is not the first place with this problem. And it’s not my card, which is brand new.) Second thing that struck me was the subsequent conversation with the owner and dedication of the staff to churn out the orders. The owner(I assume) let me sample the babaganoush, which was very good, and he asked me where I get my Middle Eastern fix usually. I don’t have a go-to, but I rattled off some names of the memorable places I’ve been too(mostly Midtown West). And then, though I was waiting a little long for my then state of rush, I couldn’t complain since my meal was made-to-order and there were several take-out entrée orders ahead of mine. When mine was on its final stages of prep, the guy was generous with fillings and seemed apt to give me anything and everything I asked for. Ultimately, the sandwich was quite delish. Nothing wrong, except the garlicky, onion mess that was my breath afterwards! Overall, it was a surprisingly great experience, and I want to go back with a true, empty stomach and sample this chicken kebab platter other reviewers have recommended. Great add to the neighborhood!
