Good riddance! Gordon Ramsay must have forgotten he opened this place. I think he remembers now.

Nice restaurant and pretty ambiance at the only restaurant at The London NYC. Like the look of it but service can be very slow(at times, non-existent) and the food is often cold by the time it makes it to your table(perhaps it is sitting in the kitchen too long and the staff isn’t paying attention and bringing it out right away?). Either way, not the greatest place for breakfast. However, for dinner and cocktails, it transforms into a much nicer lounge. So skip breakfast here and come in the evening for a drink.

Not sure why this is not so busy as the food is excellent. It is also not four $$$$. It is reasonably priced and a real gem in NYC. Real English comfort food.

On our visit, the service did not match the ambience. First round of drinks and food order was accomplished swiftly, but then… crickets. We enjoyed the setting, the wonderful music, and looked hopefully at every staff member that cruised by. After 40 min, I flagged a random waiter and our next round and apps appeared soon after. On the food, the menu seems to be scaled to a slightly foodie tourist. On the cheese plate, I think they must have run out of cheese because what I got was largely hunks of parm and lots of bologna like mortadella. Hmmm. was that the original plan? Mini steak frites beautifully executed and worth the trip. My recommendation: go for a drink, manage your server and move on for you main event.

The worst, most inattentive service I’ve ever had. The place was maybe 20% full and our lunch took almost an hour to get. Salads came last, for some reason. The staff could not have been less interested in making us happy. At this price point the service must be on the ball. It was not. And the food, which featured vegetarian options like hummus and flatbread, was mediocre at best. This was my first and last time to Maze.

Came here for brunch. The food was good, but not memorable. Out of all the things I tried, the french fries with aioli stood out the most, which is kind of sad. Something I noticed is that if you ask for ketchup, they bring cute little ketchup jars to your table. There is something special about the ketchup… I was disappointed because I expected better from a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. The menu was boring and the décor was very outdated and extremely casual.

Due to our high expectations of a Gordon Ramsay namesake restaurant, we are disappointed to have to give Maze at The London a sad little«3». Here’s why: everything was good. Just good. Not great. Not mind blowing. The tasting menu started off well with a corn chowder that tasted nice, but a bit thin. The seconds were a salad(ooooh exciting) and a way too acidic crostini with nothing sweet or salty enough to balance the vinegar. The mains were cooked well but uninspired. A grilled snapper with greens and a little sweet purée was dusted with jerk seasoning but I could(and have) made better and more flavorful in my home kitchen. The kalbi lamb t-bone was about four bites of very tender, yet under seasoned, good quality meat. Tiny little yam bites and a few boring asparagus spears were the underwhelming accompaniments. Now the reason we feel bad for only giving three stars: the staff. They were so friendly, unpretentious, and accommodating. From the host to the runners, everyone was on point. Before we even realized we needed something, our server was there with a smile. We would give 5 stars for the waitstaff for sure, especially in NYC, where they are notoriously cold and snobby. This was our wedding anniversary, and it was the staff, not the meal, that made it special(and the company of my handsome hubs of course!) I wish Chef Ramsay would read this and not thumb his nose. We are everyday folks and foodies. We love to cook at home perhaps more than eating out, but when we do, we expect something special. This just wasn’t it. From the lackluster menu to the threadbare pleather banquets to the 1985 mirrored ceiling décor… Not the experience we expected for a place with Gordon Ramsay’s name on it.

BRUNCH: Brunch at Maze would probably embarrass Mr. Ramsay. The breakfast buffet was lacking in diversity of items and in flavor. The croissant was fine, but you’re in NYC. There’s incredible bakeries everywhere, why did your bagels look like they came from a grocery store value pack? The bacon was so saturated in excess oil that when you bit into a piece, it felt like squeezing a sponge that you used to clean out the pan. The pancakes were uninteresting, but edible. COCKTAILS: They make a fine martini. Their signature cocktail with Russian Standard and Thai chili was underwhelming. I was expecting something unique and flavorful. Not so much.

Well they’ve done it better this time! A lovely burger cooked perfectly with an amazing relish that oozes from beneath the bun. The fries were crispy and not too starchy, and I couldn’t have been happier with the food. This place gets 4 stars for the service. After our second trip we are convinced it’s not a fluke. We wait an epic amount of time to be approached with menus, to get the check, etc. Just not an appropriate way to treat patrons.

Gordon Ramsay — Stop Phoning It In! Some low points: Found a METAL strip of scouring pad in our food. We were asked to buss our own table. — When the entrée came, the appetizer dishes and cutlery were still on the small table. The server wanted to see if we could remove our own dishes so she can set down her plates! — new cutlery was eventually brought for the main course, my set were just tossed on the table, fork & knife, both on the left side of the plate and askew. Staff ignored us — After we complained about the metal found in our food, they didn’t come collect our credit card for, it felt like forever, but probably 20 minutes. I couldn’t even catch anybody’s eye to pay, arms waving in the air. Searching for sevice. Please let me pay you to stop the torture and get out of here. What do I need to do? Walk my bill up to the hostess like at a 24hr diner? — my friends have told me I should have just walk out without paying by this time. The manager did apologize for the metal piece ‘it was JUST a metal strip from the scrubbing brush’. Just?! Maze did take my friend’s portion of the tab off but we were both very upset and and shakened by the whole experience.

We were looking forward to having our anniversary dinner while we were in town for a wedding. We were caught off guard by it being restaurant week. We were both looking forward to the beef Wellington… But alas, we got no such chance. The meat and cheese plate was sub par. The prosciutto was tough, we were not told what cheese was on the plate, and they think very highly of the dish at $ 34 for two people. The sopresatta was good. We also had the fried shrimp, which we akin to an overbreaded corn dog without much flavor. We decided to grab the check after these two dishes. Felt bad because it turned out my dad was picking up the tab, and they ended up bringing us two desserts. The chocolate cake was fine, the raspberry sorbet that came with it was better. The strawberry shortcake was the best dish we had of the meal. Overall, I wouldn’t come back or recommend the restaurant.

I am a huge fan of chef Gordon Ramsay. Hell! Watching Hell’s Kitchen from time to time is one of my guilty pleasures. Basically, that was the reason I decided to come here instead of getting the most expensive burger in the world. Unfortunately, I think I should have gone get me a burger. I got the sampler menu item and, one of the dishes I couldn’t take more than a single bite. I want to give this place the benefit of the doubt because it seems they were restructuring the menu at the time of my visit however, I must be truthful when reviewing on Unilocal.I’d probably give it another go when I am back in New York City but I will make sure I get my burger first.

Went here a while back with friends(one of them was OBSESSED with Gordon Ramsay). Interior was darkened and very swanky. I remember being blown away by the simple pea soup(the best pea soup I’ve ever tasted) we ordered prior to the main course. When the main dish came(beef wellington, of course), I remember all of us gushing about how it was probably the best beef we’ve ever had(and that’s factoring all of the amazing steaks we’ve tasted). The meat was so flavorful and tender. Nesting it in the buttery pastry was such a good decision — the contrasting textures did wonders for the dish. I don’t really recall the other things we had — they were all good — the two I mentioned were exceptionally good. Great place for a date or for a girls night out.

A group of friends and I specifically wanted to come here during our visit to NYC since we’d been dying to try Gordon Ramsay’s infamous beef wellington(we’re avid Hell’s Kitchen viewers). Making reservations online went really smoothly, and when we arrived at the hotel, a hostess showed us to our table immediately. My boyfriend and I ordered the beef wellington, which serves 2 for about $ 85. We were expecting tiny portions, but were pleasantly surprised when the food came out. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked, but was pretty bland. The pastry was perfectly crispy on the outside, but a little bit undercooked. Basically, it was good, but didn’t blow my mind as I had hoped. The service was a little shaky – our waiter didn’t seem like he knew what he was doing at all. But we paid, signed our checks, and headed to our broadway show. I then got a call during intermission from who I believe was the hostess, who informed us that they accidentally gave us back our credit cards without swiping first and that we would either need to give our credit card numbers over the phone, or come back to pay the check. It all seemed pretty unprofessional. Since we were at a show and I didn’t want to give my credit card information over the phone, I let her know that I would call back in the morning to sort things out. After calling and speaking to the manager the next day, he said everything was taken care of. So, the service is questionable, and I get the feeling that the hostesses/waiters were trying to cover up their mistake without having to tell the manager. But yay, free food!

Let me just start by saying, I love love love Chef Ramsay(if I wasnt already taken I would look for him lol) My experience at Maze was nothing less than amazing. My boyfriend went for his 21st birthday dinner. The service was terrific. Sadly i dont remeber the name of our waiter, I’d like to give him credit and a shoutout, but he was very attentive and kind. Now on to the most important things… THEFOOD! Words cannot describe the way I felt about the food but I will try my best… Apps: I ordered the scallops they were cooked to perfection. My bf had tuna tartar(ewww). I don’t eat that lol but he said it was great lol. Entrées: My favorite part was the New York Strip I ordered as my entrée. It had the perfect amount of seasoning and was cooked medium well like I prefer. It came with spinach and a funny shaped potatoe which were both really yum. My boyfriend ordered venison and let me tell you, after I tasted it I wanted to send my meal back lol. It was one of the best things I ever had in my life. I definitely recommend it to everyone and I wish I could explain to you guys why it was so good but I have no words lol. Overall it was one of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant in my life. BEPREPAREDTOSPENDSOMECOINS

A Kitchen Nightmare! We really wanted to be blown away by this place because of our huge respect for Gordon Ramsay and the excellent experience we had at his Burgr place in Las Vegas… Unfortunately we were not! Although the food was good, the service and overall experience was almost comically disappointing for a birthday dinner. Waiter 1: Handed us menus without a word or even eye contact, not even a little welcome before he hurried away. Waiter 2: Came from nowhere and asked for our drink order. He took my wife’s order and then mine, I barely had time to finish my sentence before he too hurried away without leaving any room for asking additional questions. Waiter 3: Asked what food we wanted to order, short and simple without asking if we had any questions and without giving us a further explanation of the menu. We tried asking questions about the items and just got short answers that were directly recited from the menu. The mostly yes or no answers we did get were often contradicting and left us even more confused. We ended up skipping appetizers altogether because we just couldn’t get any answers about them. Just like waiter 2 taking our drink order, we barely finished saying what we wanted before waiter 3 too disappeared. He even forgot to ask how I wanted my steak done and ended up having to come back and ask me a few minutes later. We finally got our food! It was well cooked but nobody asked us how it was during our entire dinner and we didn’t even get water refills until we asked two separate waiters for them after our glasses had been empty for most of the meal. Once we were done eating, we were handed a dessert menu and had an equally hard time getting answers or recommendations. After we had finished our desserts and the $ 6 cup of coffee, one of the waiters came out with a complimentary dessert with a lit candle in it, muttered a «happy birthday» and left so fast he almost put out the candle. It would have been a really nice gesture had it not been for how it was delivered and the fact that I had just finished a bigger version of that very same dessert. It would have cost them less and meant more to me if he would have said happy birthday with a smile and not charged me for the dessert I already ordered. When it was time to ask for the check, none of our waiters were to be found. When they were, they did their best to avoid eye contact. We finally paid our check to yet another waiter that we hadn’t dealt with before… But at least waiter 4 was efficient. I think Chef Ramsay should send a few of his under cover diners to his own place before making any other Kitchen Nightmare episodes. I give it 2 stars rather than 1 because my steak was delicious. It could so easily have been better!

E-Scale: 2⁄10 My sister and I came here for restaurant week. The appetizers were good, I got the empanada and she got the kale salad. For the entrée, I got the chicken and she got the branzino. The chicken was very tender and moist but lacked flavor. I usually like food that isn’t heavily seasoned and I thought this was a very bland chicken. My sister’s branzino was very fishy and the vegetables tasted uncooked. The dessert was a caramel cake. Not too sweet, but not something I would voluntarily order if I had a choice. My biggest issue was the service. Our waiter never once asked us how things were and was unfriendly with a pissed off look on his face. We waited 40 minutes for our entrée! I am so glad we came for restaurant week because if I had to wait this long with crappy service AND pay full price for mediocre food, I’d be A LOT crankier(and poorer). Do not go here! I sure as hell won’t be coming back.

Overall, the experience was very good. However, it is difficult to look past a few technical errors. We started out with water, which turned out to be $ 10 per bottle. We were brought two bottles throughout the meal without asking for them or being told the price. This added on $ 20 on to our check. Had we known that water was going to be so expensive(not free), we would have ordered different beverages. Other then this deception, the service was very good. Our waiter was prompt without being overly verbose. The matradee visited our table twice to make sure everything was okay. Many menu items were sold out, which was disappointing and ultimately lead us to order less expensive alternatives. Keeping the kitchen better stocked would help Maze to increase sales revenue. For a starter, we ordered the diver’s scallops. They were delicious cooked perfectly. They were wonderfully buttery throughout with a nice sear just coating each side. Spot on perfect. I would definitely order the scallops again and recommend to others. For our entrée, we ordered the Beef Wellington on the matradee’s recommendation and since Gordon Ramsey is famous for Beef Wellington. The quality of the beef was very good. The pastry was light and fluffy. And The sauce really brought the dish together. However, I have two serious complaints. First, the ends of the Beef Wellington had too much pastry. This causes the pastry to be undercooked and doughy. Second, one half was cooked at medium rare while the other half was cooked rare. There was a very noticeable inconsistency in temperature between the two halves. This is problematic since both portions were given to the same table and because the expectation is that two people would share this dish. Who gets the rare side?

I really like staying at the London, but I never had the balls to try Gordon Ramsay’s extremely pricey restaurant. The one in London has earned a Michelin star, and I don’t doubt that dinner here is likely quite a culinary extravaganza. Breakfast, on the other hand, is another matter entirely, and I don’t see why they even bother to be open at an ungodly hour to serve business travelers like myself. First of all, I was surprised how blandly corporate the place looked in the daylight with all the teal, steel and glass in the room(photo: ). Like a cafeteria in an investment firm complete with wall-to-wall suits conducting power meetings. Me? I was there just to get some breakfast. Perusing the menu, I have to admit I was a bit taken aback by the prices, but it is Gordon Ramsay after all, isn’t it? I decided to bypass the $ 28 Breakfast Table, which was the buffet that everyone was grazing about, in favor of the $ 22 London Breakfast. It consisted rather simply of two eggs(which I chose to have scrambled), three small links of chicken apple sausage, sauteed new potatoes, half a tomato Provençal and toast(photo: ). It was fine but hardly the mark of a master chef, and I was just expecting something more for the price. Service was on the streamlined side as I hardly received attention as a solitary diner. Perhaps I didn’t look like a big tipper. Busted. FOOD — 3 stars… Gordon Ramsay’s London breakfast didn’t leave me gobsmacked AMBIANCE — 3 stars… like I was eating in a very fancy office building SERVICE — 2.5 stars… felt the breeze as they walked by hastily TOTAL — 3 stars… breakfast doesn’t appear to mirror the dinner experience

Disappointed in general. The service was really bad. We had a reservation for 2:15. No checkin for the food, we had to ask him for ordering, taking our plates… My cod was so dry and didn’t hv flavors at all. It’s so bad… And when I brought it to the server, he was so indifferent, mgr was out but I saw how the server got his attitude from. I really wish the chef would say something but I got basically no info from the mgr. The mushroom side was good, and my gin mix-The London was good. But that was it. I would never spend that money for that kinda food and service ever again. So be cautions my friends!
