I went to this shop to get my first bikini wax after just moving to the city. It was not worth it! I paid for the 30 for 40 deal on Unilocal.And had such a hard time getting to them for the midtown east side, even after months living here I say try to find somewhere closer by unless you live on the west side. I’ve found better groupons and just other shops around me who do a cheaper bikini wax.
But let’s get into my real problems with this shop. First I booked my appointment over the phone and repeated my time of 7oclock multiple times to make sure she told me the right time. I get to the shop she tells me oh you’re late your appointment was at 6. I should have just turned around then but it took me long enough to get there I was going to get my damn bikini waxed. So I never got the waxing ladies name but she’s like I can do your bikini line, again my first time getting a bikini wax (though I have had other parts waxed before) so I didn’t know she meant literally just the permitter and that I wouldn’t be able to use my Unilocal deal on it. … And then I experienced one of the most awkward things of my life, when they say this shop is small they means it smalllllll! But I didn’t think it was going to be so small that they wouldn’t have a small room they do bikini waxes in like other salons. No instead their is practically a sheer sheet covering the bikini wax table, so when this lady started talking about my pubic hair loudly the whole shop could hear her, and it felt so uncomfortable just sitting their knowing with one wrong fly open of the «sheet» and everyone in the shop and anyone passing by outside could see my «you know what”(usually I would be blunt about it but this is a Unilocal review not girls brunch). I give this two stars because even though it was a bad situation the bikini line turned out good. However with all the stress getting there, not being able to use my coupon, and feeling terrible embarrassed, I wanted to cry walking out. So no I definitely would not recommend this place. Thankful Unilocal refunded my money after i explained to them what happened, so I thank Unilocal for their awesome customer service!

Not the typical salon experience – this place is tiny, and the waxing room had me a little nervous at first (also quite crampedl; the table is right up against a wall and there were some coats, presumably belonging to the staff hanging in the corner), but Navi was super professional and friendly, and for the price, you really can’t beat the work she does. Very happy and will definitely be returning.

Came here because of the Unilocal deal and continued to come back, both for eyebrows and for Brazilian wax. Overall, it’s great!
Pros: Cheap (much cheaper than other waxing salons), they do a great job (especially Navi! No stray hairs, they’re fast, and make it as painless as possible), and they’re nice!
Also, not sure if they still do this, but they had a valued customers deal where if you booked your appointment every 4 weeks they give you a reduced price!
Cons: As other Unilocalers have said, the place is EXTREMELY small. You won’t find any frills here. The waxing area is simply the back end of the shop sectioned off using some make-​shift curtains. No one will see anything when you’re taking care of business but there’s not much privacy otherwise. And because they do such a great job, they’re usually booked up (especially for waxing) and it can be hard to get an appointment — best to plan ahead!

Maya is amazing. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. The service is wonderful, affordable, and their hours/​location make it very easy to go after work. Navi is the sweetest! I go to her on a regular basis for brazilians and it’s always painless and thorough. I highly recommend going to Maya, and make sure to ask for Navi! :)

3 cheers to this place! Stopped in as I was in the area and needed eyebrow threading and $ 7 later I walked out with expertly shaped eyebrows. Although Himalayan geographically is closer this place is definitely a solid option too! Awesome!

Read the great reviews and thought I’d give it a try — went in for a Brazilian wax with Navi (not my first time getting waxed) and ended up with wax burns :(Incredibly painful, especially since all of the previous waxes I’ve had were perfectly done. Maybe this was a one time thing (and she seemed tired — I was the last customer for the day)…regardless, would suggest you think twice before booking with Maya.

I found this wonderful place based on Unilocal reviews, and am so glad I went. Tiny shop that is clean and efficient, with such a sweet lady who threaded my brows. I couldn’t be happier with the result. Maybe next time I will try the brow tinting, because mine are sparse, and she was so gentle and sweet. You won’t be sorry if you give Maya a try.

After extensive research I chose Maya because of the great reviews and the pocket friendly cost and I was not let down. I went in for a Brazilian wax (first time waxee) and Navi made me feel really comfortable and relaxed. I already recommended her to my sister and best friend. And they have this awesome deal if you book your next appointment within a month it’ll only cost you $ 20. That’s an amazing deal compared to $ 55 I’ve seen other shops charge.

Listen, if you don’t know how to thread eyebrows, don’t try it, because that’s how you will end up with reviews like this. Two stars because the first time I went the lady who I saw was excellent – wish I knew her name and shift – she was Indian or Middle Eastern. Second time I went on a Sunday morning and saw a woman – maybe Thai/​Southeast Asian – who finished praying at her shrine, then proceeded to butcher my eyebrows. I had acne-​like rash that lasted a month. I was traumatized. She needs to go, sorry. Someone please contact me and let me know when the lady with the skills is working. I’d go back for her, but never ever again for the other one.

This was my go to place while I lived in the village. It’s cheap, quick, and they take walk ins. There aren’t any frills, but I’m not really trying to pay for any of those either. I’ve had my brows threaded and tinted here. Sometimes my brows would look absolutely amazing after the treatment, and other times they’d just look… good enough? Definitely not bad, but the slight inconsistency just threw me off a bit. I wasn’t that bothered because I’d just fill in my brows later, but if you’re super picky all the time you might want to make that known. I was pretty lax with my direction.

And what a great place for my first. Maya is actually the smallest beauty establishment that I’ve ever seen but they run a lean, mean well-​oiled machine out there in the west village.
I came in on a Tuesday night with only a 5 or 7-​minute wait. Two ladies were working the shop, one waxing, the other threading. As soon as I sat down, the woman got to work on my brows. She was diligent and efficient, which I appreciated. I got in at 7:05 and left by 7:20.
The price tag seems cheap — 7 bucks for the whole shazam. People mentioned this before but there’s a 10 dollar credit limit.

The best service as well as price in the neighborhood. Maya uses organic wax and strictly no double dipping. The waxer took care of me very well. She was very careful and gentle. She spent time doing her job actually. They have a great deal which is come back within a month will be $ 20 for Brazilian wax (original price $ 40). I am thrilled by the price and high end service. Definitely recommend to everyone! Remember to make an appointment in advance.

Came here for my first brazilian wax ever after seeing the deal on Groupon. I was scared because i read horror stories online about the pain. The waxer was very pleasant, she didn’t get annoyed with me for squirming or Unilocaling from the slight pinch of the strips.
She was very clean, went through about 30 waxing sticks.
I was very pleased with the end results and received a discount on my next visit.
Needless to say, I am definitely coming back here.

I never loved my eyebrows when leaving. With that, I didn’t hate them either. The place is teeny and I wouldn’t say the most stylish spot, but it’s SUPER cheap and the ladies are always kind.
I also have bushman eyebrows that tend to be a pain in the ass, so take this review as you will. I tried for a few times, but in the end, went back to my girl at Looks a few blocks south.

Walking into your first wax is perhaps the scariest experiences ever — mostly because you psych yourself out and let those horror stories get to you. Thankfully Navi made sure to quell all of my fears. As soon as I confided in her that this was my first time and I had no idea what to do or what to expect, she kindly walked me through the entire procedure. She made small talk (just enough to comfort me) throughout and before I knew it I was done and you know what its really not that bad!
