My Niece had her baby shower at this wonderful place on Columbus Ave. The atmosphere was very laid back, the staff was exceptional and the food was great. Everyone there was very helpful, we all had a great time. My sisters and I will be back again! Reggie K Groton, CT

The manager/bartender on Wednesday night was super cool. I actually recognized him from his prior stint at Isola. It was all love. So fast forward to that random night when I decided to walk in and celebrate the end of the work year for 2015. Quite quickly I ranged through a number of emotions. First, that door looks like it is heavy, but it is quite light. Don’t make the mistake I did and swing it so that you almost feel you are going for a ride. Second, the staff was awesome at making everyone feel welcome once they walk through the door. Third, but not least, this is a WINE bar in case you missed the memo like I did. So the wine flows as does the beer but be forewarned. When I walked in asking for an old fashioned I was politely told that no hard alcohol was served. Oy vey! That was quickly remedied as they had a number of my red wine favorites on hard. Malbec, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon ect etc the list can go on. They have a healthy list of whites, roses and champagnes. It should be noted that their sangrias are nothing to scoff at– I would start with the banana sangria and then the Harlem sangria and not viceversa. The Harlem(red) sangria can quickly overpower the banana flavor. After much deliberation I ordered the wings, without too many expectations. Well they were a solid bunch of wings that were surprisingly good. Next on my list of things to try are the quesadillas. However, know that they are more of a lounge and not an outright restaurant. Their wine/beer list is way longer than their food menu. Don’t be fooled by the pretentious pictures of people in front of the step and repeat. This place has a laid back vibe that feels comfortable for a group or a quick drink. I was there for most of happy hour but want to see how this place transforms in the late night. Will return.

What a pleasant surprise. This place is very new and although they minor kinks to work out(had only the happy hour red wine not the rose nor white) both my best friend and I loved it here. We came here before eating at Safari and we would definitely come back. First off, happy hour here is great. Wine for $ 5 dollars(good wine mind you!) is SO speaking my language. And the environment itself is was really relaxing with mostly chill loungey type music and exposed brick and wood are always the way to my heart. Suffice to say we will return.

Great spot in my ‘hood. Nice design, soulful music, friendly bar service, decent sliders, and good for Manhattan prices make this a new fave. The sangria tonight — we chose the red, not the banana option — was tasty and for $ 55 the pitcher gave us seven full glasses. Each glass individually is $ 11, so do the math… or have a Columbia student do it for you!

This is a lovely, elegant spot in south Harlem with a huge wine selection and welcoming, laid back atmosphere. This bar is beautiful inside. You can tell that a lot of thought went into the design of the interior. L-shaped bar, booth tables, and standing tables for when it’s hopping. Modern, clean design but not antiseptic… if that makes sense. I love the wood ceiling, walls, tables, and bar. So here’s the narrative… I was out running errands on the Upper West Side on a Sunday afternoon(Petco and the hardware store), and mission accomplished I started looking around for places to dive in for a beer. Giants v Cowboys on this particular Sunday complicated my plans for a relaxed drink. I mean, I like football, and I like the Giants, but I’m not a screaming bro and I try to avoid screaming bros. I continued to walk home(south Harlem) and had almost given up on getting my beer, but I checked my Unilocal bookmarks and saw that MBV was just up the block. I went inside and there were several spots open at the bar, which is always nice for introverts such as me. 12 craft beers on tap, one TV over the bar showing the game. With so few taps, I can’t say the beer selection is excellent, but the person choosing the beers knows what he or she is doing and has mixed local breweries with some exceptional national and international beers(Founders, Harpoon, Weihenstephan, etc.) Looking at their website right now reminds me that their menu is very helpful and describes the flavors of each beer on tap. On this Sunday evening the clientele here was quite laid back. While I was there, the Giants returned an interception for a touchdown and returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Against the Cowboys. These events were met by no more than approving nods and grunts of approval by those of us at the bar watching the game. I loved that. If you DGAF about sports then you could probably come here and not be interrupted every two minutes by screaming yahoos. I may watch the Word Series here! My suggestions to the business would be to increase the number of beer taps and maybe take at least $ 1 off your draft prices across the board, if that’s possible. My own fault for not carefully reading the happy hour details on the chalkboard – they had 3 beers on there for $ 5 but I got the expensive stuff and ended up paying close $ 20 for two beers. I know that’s standard for Manhattan, but lower prices on craft beer would really set MBV apart. Edit: I had the Founders Oatmeal Nitro Stout($ 9+tax) and the Big Daddy IPA, I think($ 8+tax). Like I said, not out of line for me.

It’s Saturday night and Me and my girls just wanted to grab a drink and catch up so we decided to check out MBV. This is my new favorite place. We loved the atmosphere, the service was superb, and so were the drinks and food. We started with the banana sangria which was pretty good but after a few sips we were over it so decided to order a bottle of Chardonnay. We also ordered chicken and shrimp quesadillas which were very good! The shrimp were nice and plump. Chicken was moist and flavorful. There was a very nice crowd and We were lucky enough to have 2 rounds of drinks sent our way. The DJ did an amazing job! We were extremely comfortable, didn’t feel rushed at all. We had such a great time we didn’t want to leave. Can’t wait to return.

Excellent place for a «quick» date. nice décor. not convenient if you are hungry & looking for a fulfilling meal. The Banana Sangria everyone speaks about was not offered on the day I went which was disappointing because it was the primary reason I wanted to check this place out.

MBV is a great sophisticated but not snooty place. We really enjoyed their beer selection. The meat n cheese platter is pretty large and very delicious. We also had their sliders, wow so juicy!!! Good job! You all know what your doing!!!

I came here earlier in the week to check it out and it happened to be poetry night. Not only was it surprisingly fun(you never know with finger snaps and spoken word) but my banana sangria and shrimp quesadilla were so good, I came back with a group of girl friends 4 nights later. After two pitchers of sangria, I’m sold. Great atmosphere, drinks, food and it won’t break the bank! Thanks MBV for a great time!

I came to MBV on the recommendation of a friend. I want to say that I’m soooooo glad I did! I met the General Manager, Ralph, who introduced me to his one of a kind Banana Sangria. The drink is outstanding! The service was great, the ambience was extremely nice and the establishment was very clean. I also had the Chicken Quesadilla and they were excellent. I’m so glad I came and will definitely revisit.

MBV is a great new neighborhood spot for this area. It’s a welcome contrast to the bro-y Columbia bars up on amsterdam and somewhere I’m hoping to frequent much more often. The wine and beer selections are some of the best I’ve seen in New York, and the staff and clients make the experience relaxed and comfortable. The décor is very well done-the ambiance is cozy and tasteful, and with the average glass price around $ 10, it’s easy to spend lots of time here. :) Came here with my girlfriend and had an awesome time. I’ll definitely be back with some more friends, and you should too!

Love this place! It doesn’t hurt that I live about a minute walk away and frequent the wine store that the owner of MBV also owns… but regardless — great wine and beer selection, the people that work here are super nice and down to earth, it’s got a beautiful interior and manages to be modern and cozy at the same time. I can’t speak to the quality of the food as I’ve only been for drinks, but I really appreciate the fact that they have a wide selection from affordable to pricier, more refined wine and beer options. MBV really brightens up the block and I couldn’t be happier to live so close to it. Definitely a great spot for a date or gathering with friends. Give it a try if you haven’t already!

Saw this bar in the neighborhood and my sister and I decided to try it after a difficult day of moving and deep cleaning in our apartment. MBV was a great choice! The beer and wine menu are extensive and really affordable. I tried two different glasses of their Reisling and enjoyed both, my sister had a beer and enjoyed it. Their menu is mostly bar snacks, but we were pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. For mostly being snacky type items, the sliders were crispy and fresh(the soft bun is awesome!) the salad was fresh and the pretzel bites were really yummy, with three different dipping sauces! Food was also CHEAP! We sat and talked for several hours and were never once rushed by staff. It’s the WORST when you’re sitting and enjoying a nice ambiance and the staff is hovering to get you to move on, but not at MBV. In fact, before we left the general manager introduced himself which was nice. This would be a great place for a date, but was just what we needed after a hard day! Cool wine and yummy sliders what could be better? We’ll definitely be back!

I have to say I loved the great beer and wine selection, but the food was horrible. I went with a group of friends and ordered the cheese platter. The cheese was hard around the. Edges and the grapes were old you could tell by the brown vine. We also had the chicken sliders which were made from ground Turkey and had no taste. The chicken quesadilla which I thought was missing the(chicken) but when I found it that also was ground chicken. I do not reccomend eating here. I will say the sangria was the highlight of the night and highly reccomend that. It would be great if they offered a better selection of appetizers.

This new beer and wine bar on my block feels not new at all. Opened by the friendly owner of the wine shop in the next block, it’s already a perfect addition to the neighborhood. Wine selection is extensive and varied and there are more than seven beers on tap. They don’t serve meals but have a great tapas style menu — we tried guacamole and chips which was a perfect snack. Try the sangria — it’s assembled to order. Happy hour has $ 5 drinks including sangria. Will be back often!

Not a place for dinner if you are starving but they have a series of well done small plates, I had the caramelized onion sliders which were delicious. The reason to come here is the is the awesomely affordable beer and wine list with bottle prices that rival other places happy hours. Stone Ruination Double IPA or Founders Dirty Bastard for $ 6 is hard to beat. They also have house wine for $ 6 and a good selection of affordable offerings beyond that. The service is attentive but not oppressive, overall a great stop if you are in the neighborhood.

I was so looking forward to Manhattan Brew & Vine opening up. Happy to report it not only didn’t disappoint, it exceeded my expectations. The vibe is warm, romantic, and cozy – perfect for a date, a friendly meet-up, or a group of friends. I was pleasantly surprised by the pricing. They offer a wide selection of wines under 10 dollars a glass. I had two 8 dollar glasses of sparkling rose – absolutely delicious. I wasn’t in the mood to try any food, but I did note that they serve some small plates(a cheese plate, pretzel bites, etc). Furthermore, they have a phenomenal Happy Hour – all 5 dollar options, including sangria, house white, house red, a few beers, and even more. Can’t wait to try that deal out, hopefully tonight if I can convince my partner! The only thing I wish they had was more of an online presence so I can pass along their wine list or menu. Will definitely be back(tonight, if I can help it).
