While I love their Mojito Lip Balm, it is amazing, the company advertizes themselves to use only natural ingredients. And that’s not true. Hydrogenated fats are not natural. And Ben and Jerry had their«Natural» marketing taken away for that very issue. Seeing as I’m not ingesting the lip gloss by the spoonful, I don’t care. But false advertising is still wrong.

i don’t really use face/skin/hair products, but when the temperature starts to dip, my go-to lip balm is M+G’s. i have very dry lips(even when it’s not winter), and their lip balm is very effective– pricey, sure, but you only need to apply a little bit ~2x a day, and it’s not too waxy or shiny, either. this location, just like the others, has friendly and knowledgeable staff. also, the brand’s design aesthetic is very strong, modern yet classic at the same time. lastly, i am always happy to support local businesses. shop small, ppl!

I must say, the products are pretty great but the shopping experience at the UWS store is disappointing. I haven’t been offered samples with my last two purchases, and whenever I walk in, I encounter a bored, dour, apathetic clerk and I feel like I’m interrupting his computer or iPhone game. Would a smile and some enthusiasm be so hard to muster? Yes, the products do sort of sell themselves, and maybe the staff is intended to be just a cashier and not a personal salesman, but every time I leave after giving them my money, I feel a bit resentful. I’m sure I’m spoiled by Kiehls and Mario Badescu and other higher end cosmetics experiences where the employees are clearly into what they are doing and have been trained to provide customer service that makes the buyer feel good/happy/welcome. Anyway, I like the product but think the staff could provide a much better in-store experience.

I just read the first sentence of the latest review and I really identified with it in a deep and meaningful way so I too will lead off with a similar statement. Malin+ Goetz turns me on. Or anyways I went to Tommy Guns Salon for an overly expensive yet amazing haircut, and they, actually, turned me on to the product — hair pomade. Okay, quick side note — I am Asian American, my hair is incredibly soft and thin — so imagine like jr. high photos before I used gel(which was big in the 90s, but not so much these days except for finance guys) — imagine my hair as a big ball of fuzz without product. It’s hard to find a pomade that actually cooperates with my hair, so I have been searching my whole life for the holy grail of hair products — and some have come close, but this takes the cake — a really delicious, moist, rich, cake… basically what i’m trying to say is that it has a nice texture(not too hard, not too opposite of hard, nice fragrance, nice hold, and doesn’t leave residue all up over the place…) Also, I never use deodorant(again, I’m Asian — make whatever connection you want here). But their best seller is their eucalyptus/menthol deodorant, and I was like, fine I’ll give it a shot. I was curious. Anyways, I’m a fan, even if you don’t have putrid B.O. like 80% of the people at bikram yoga do, it has a pleasant smell, and that menthol wakes your darn armpits in the morning. by golly(?) go. peace.

Malin + Goetz make the best care products available, period. I got turned onto them through the Grooming Lounge, and I’m very thankful I did. A lot of guys aren’t into this kind of thing– they can’t understand why anyone would spend so much on the same kind of products you can buy at Safeway for 80% less. Well, those aren’t the same kind of products, believe me. The difference is evident as soon as you first open the bottle or tube: from the(always amazing) scent alone you know this will be completely different and superior. I’ve personally sat 4 of my friends down and made them try the grapefruit face wash– now all 4 are M+G shoppers. That’s really all it takes– one try. While I’ve never personally been to one of their stores(I’m planning on it when I’m in NYC in June), I’ve bought dozens of their products online. The grapefruit cleanser and detox face mask are my two favorites– definitely try them. Their shampoos, conditioners, and body washes are fantastic, too– my favorite variety being bergamot. The lime and rum hand washes are great, and are also a cool way to impress your guests. And speaking of soap, although they’re small, the mojito soap set is a great deal. Are their products expensive? Yes, unquestionably. But consider these two facts. First, when you buy quality care products, you only have to use a small amount each time– much less than with your standard, off-the-shelf brands. Second, they really do work exactly as advertised. You’ll never be frustrated with any of their products like you will with dove, old spice, or any other of the myriad basic brands. They work, and work fast: within a couple weeks you’ll be able to see a big difference, trust me. And, as an added bonus, everything Malin + Goetz makes is beautiful. Their bottles, tubes, and boxes are adorned with awesome, modern text art. As one reviewer noted previously, M+G products have actually been featured in modern art museums before! So you can proudly arrange them on your bathroom shelf for anyone to see when they come in. Don’t fret about the price– it’s worth it. Order one thing and you’ll get at least 3 or 4 samples with it, and that’s all it will take to convert you.

This is the best store ever. The products are wonderful and helpful staff will find the perfect product for you or send you home with a baggie full of wonderful samples. My face is sensitive and I’ve never had a reaction with any Malin & Goetz products. They have wonderful gift sets too. If you don’t shop here, you should :)

In a world that is overwhelmed by skincare products, haircare products and everything else under the sun to help us from aging, it was a refreshing change to shop at Malin + Goetz. All their products are very straight forward, their line is refined and to the point, and their design is beautiful; in fact it was featured in a few modern art museums internationally! I also found the saleswoman to be very helpful, and I loved all the samples she gave me! Definitely my new go to for face care!

My friend James is the worst. Recently, we stopped in together after brunch because he needed to pick up some cleanser and moisturizer. The incredibly charismatic sales person stuffed a prescription bag full of samples for me and jokingly said that his intention was to get me addicted to the products. Yeah, that was not a joke. Malin-Goetz has the best face care products. Within three days I returned and dropped over a hundred dollars. The samples are dangerous – once you try this stuff, that’s it. It’s over. No turning back.

MALIN + GOETZ is my go to skin care provider, and their UWS store is by far my favorite location. With their funky round windows and display shelves the sleek vibe puts you in such a good mood for buying some of the most amazing beauty care products ever. The staff is über friendly and very helpful and always willing to make recommendations for new products as well as provide you with lots of samples for stuff you might be interested in(because if you are going to spend the money why not try it out first) I have been a MALIN + GOETZ fan for years now. Their spf 15 face moisturizer is the only moisturizer I use and the lip moisturizer is the most amazing clear lip stuff you could ever put on your lips. They have the best«smells» as well. I love the muskyness of them all, mainly dark rum. Oh that dark rum sent! I have it in a few things and own about 4 candles. The dark rum candle gives me goosebumps it is so divine! Yes, this store might be out of a few peoples price range when it comes to things like body lotion, face wash, shampoo, candles, and all that good stuff. But for amazing products that last it’s completely worth it!

I’m a huge fan of MALIN + Goetz products and was very excited to learn they opened a store down the street from where I work! I set out yesterday afternoon to walk the couple blocks and pick up a couple things walked by it twice before realizing where it was. They don’t have an official sign yet — just an old vintage(pharmacy?)(very fitting for the apothecary side to their products) sign. so you might be like me scratching your head on the block in complete puzzlement. It’s right on the south east corner of 82nd and Amsterdam. It’s small but perfectly sized to showcase their products. The space is airy and light with super funky windows and displays. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and NOT pushy. Their products are definitely a little pricey but worth it if you’re like me and splurge on decent skin care stuff once every 4 – 6 months. Their products are great for any skin type but you should definitely consult with them before purchasing. Plus they give you samples in really fun prescription bags! They aren’t stingy either and if you’re thinking about laying out $ 45 for a face wash you might want to try it out first :)
