By coming here, you are getting exactly what Dyckman has to offer: 1. Loud music 2. Hookah 3. A range of decent thru straight-up terrible service 4. Over-priced food and drinks But hey, that’s what happens when demand is up and people are willing to spend their entire paycheck to party on the Vegas, I mean Dyckman Strip. This spot is on the intimate side. None-the-less they do manage to fit a live DJ in here on the weekends. I would say it’s more catered to the crowd that doesn’t want to turn-up too much because there’s minimal standing/dancing room — it’s more of a sit down, eat, drink, & smoke spot. They have hookah(cash only), serve food till late night, and have strong, very sweet pitchers of several types of sangria, and other mixed drink concoctions. Overall a solid option if you’re looking to chill in Dyckman and know what you’re getting yourself into.

okay… i’ll say the music is great… That’s it! Everyyy time I go here some drama with drinks! Always. do not ask me why I continue to go lol! If you are okay with whack ass drinks then you wont mind it! lol But the bartenders suck! We tried the Margarita, and the sangria! They both tasted like vodka with juice! Neither of those drinks have vodka inside! Another time I went they had a sign posted outside for happy hour: Beers $ 3.00… They did not charge us that! We had to get the manager involved… Eventually he gave in and even gave us a free shot… so for that they get a 3… But if your looking for good drinks. do not come here to drink. Unless you do not care and just want good music, because they do have usually have great dj’s. Also very tight…

Came here yesterday afternoon for happy hour. I ordered two Margaritas. They were pretty yummy and strong. Didn’t order food. The 2 women in charge seemed to either be in lala land or glued to their phone. Oh the space is tiny. I may come back just for the drinks!

We got in for a late dinner and drinks, we got to our table and only had one chair so we requested one and got it after 8 minutes. Then the waitress asked us what we wanted… But we didn’t have any menus. Finally she came back with the menus, we tell her what we want and she says the kitchen is closed even though we’d just seen her serve a table some burgers and empanadas. So we just order drinks. We had 4 drinks and when the bill came, they’d charged me for 6 and when I spoke to the woman about it, she said that she couldn’t change it because someone had already made my drinks. Ok, but I didn’t order it so why was I charged? I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. It is cramped, the toilets overflowed so there was pee everywhere, there’s selective food service if there’s any service at all.

I came here again about 3 weeks after my first visit. The place was super empty, it was just my partner and I, and the waitress was very unwelcoming. You would’ve thought the place was closed because the lights were super dim and she was cleaning up. We literally had to wave at her so she can open the door because it was… LOCKED. Why would you lock a door when your business was still open? Unless something fishy was going on in the back. Anyway, I did not get a good vibe from her which I felt the whole time I was there. Part of me wanted to get up and leave but it was so cold so I figured I’d just stay because I really like their food and drinks. I ordered a hamburger, which took about 25 – 30 minutes to arrive which is crazy because we were literally the only two customers there(Very awkward). The burger was amazing, as always.(The only highlight of that evening). My partner ordered a Hennessy mojito which was pretty good, but when we got the bill, it said it cost $ 15. Mind you, in the menu it is listed that it costs $ 7. The waitress was nice enough to print out a new bill and lower the drink to $ 7 because it was clearly her mistake that the correct price was not listed next to the drink. Anyway, my friends keep inviting me here again and I really don’t feel like coming because I was so turned off. I’ll think about it– I might come here when it’s super busy and when the waiter/waitress is more pleasing this time. Sucks because my first time here was great. Shows the importance of service.

So my 3 girls and I went here yesterday(Monday) for some hookah and drinks. We were leaving Papasitos because their service was horrible. The loud reggaeton blasting from this place is what caught our eye. We’re on spring break from work and wanted to find a place with good drinks and good music at around 7pm. The speaker at this place had just broken and the owner was doing all he could to get new speakers in. Although we were still able to hear the music, about an hour and a half later he brought two guys to change ALL of the speakers. I think because of this inconvenience he gave us a free hookah and free pitcher of sangria. The waitress/bartender was awesome and the passion fruit sangria was great! The only reason this place doesn’t get 5 stars is because they were out of some ingredients to make their Picadera platter. One of the girls doesn’t eat meat and the only seafood option they had available at the time was Tilapia. We ordered the montadito de churrasco and man was that good! A little pricey but hey it’s New York. Their customer service is great. Cesar, the owner was awesome and the bartender was very friendly. I would definitely return!

After looking at Unilocal!reviews I came here as it seemed like a decent place to spend an evening. I came here on a Thursday night and upon arriving the place was completely deserted, mind you it was already late in the hour. Normally there should be people on a Thursday night, but it was completely empty. Once we walked in, even the bartender who seemed distracted was kinda surprised to see us. As we sat at the bar and were given the menus, I ordered a beer. To my surprise from their entire selection of beer he only had(4) bottles left total. On a Thursday night. I was already in a bad mood and wanted to leave, but we wanted to finish our drinks first. As we were drinking a roach went over my menu like he owned the place. Right there and then I was done and needed to get out as soon as possible. We paid and left and will never return here. What a shame, Additionally the menu prices are much much higher now then what you see on the Unilocal!photos.

We weren’t sure what to expect as we got here a little early and no one else was there. But the tapas were excellent, the food was delicious, great presentation, and the service was very friendly and attentive. A very good dining experience.

I’m from LA and consider myself a foodie. The Salmon entrée is excellent if I could give it six stars I would! The price was a steal! The red sangria and ceasar drink are delicious!

My wife and I had lunch here after a visit to the Cloisters. The first thing you should know, the menu contained very little Tapas. It was more modern American(steak, burgers, smoked sausages, chicken tenders and fries). First we tried to order Diet Cokes to drink, but couldn’t get them because they were«all frozen». Second, our waitress didn’t seem to know exactly what each menu item entailed. She told us that the restaurant was brand new and had just opened(but there are reviews from Oct. 2013?). I asked if the burger came with fries, she had to check. I ended up ordering the burger(which did come with fries) and my wife got the steak with mushroom sauce. The waitress asked what dressing she would like for her salad. My wife asked what the options were and, again, she had to go check. The food was definitely the highlight. The burger was juicy and well cooked, topped with excellent fresh greens. My wife’s steak was well cooked and the sauce was rich and tasty. It came with some mashed Spanish root vegetable side that I had never heard of, but was very, very good and had a unique flavor. However, my wife never got her salad. When she asked the waitress when it was coming out, the waitress seemed confused and said the meal did not come with salad. Um.. .. okay. This place has potential, but I agree with another poster that it doesn’t seem to warrant all the 5 star reviews it’s gotten so far. If you want Spanish Tapas, this isn’t your place. If you want good food for a decent price(for New York) and don’t mind a few hiccups in your experience, this place is pretty good.

I can only think that the other reviews were posted by relatives. These are facts, not reviews:(1) took 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive;(2) my «club soda» was Sprite with two lemon slices;(3) server told us the only white wine they had was Prosecco; listed on check as «Pinot Noir»;(4) they allow hookah smoking;(5) bill for two glasses of wine, club soda/sprite, and one order of chicken fingers was $ 44.(6) Write your own review.

The place is tiny but great especially at happy hour where my cosmos where $ 5 and Tapas $ 5 – 8. The chicken wings with fries were crispy and great so was the Hawaiian flatbread.

Small place, but cozy and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We ordered a few items but some are not available and they quickly informed us. Shrimp salad with apple sauce is delicious, the empanada is crunchy, ambience is very relaxing. The dude offering hookah is a bit shady. Dj is playing a mix of Latin music(salsa classics, bachata, etc). Drinks are surprisingly very good, one of the better sangrias and mojitos in town. Give it a try yourself.

I love Maja’s! Reasonably priced and located on the hottest strip in Uptown Manhattan. With super yummy food too?! It’s become my go to spot — weekends and weekdays. Try the salmon — which I’ve had almost every other time there.
