I walked in this store today to use a pen AND buy a bottle of champaign. I was greeted by such hostility and anger. She immediately asked me to leave because I was asking to use a pen and assumed I wasn’t buying anything. I was in such shock I left. I returned a few mins later to let her know that I was interested in purchasing something, she started yelling, calling me a liar and telling me I was rude and had to leave. I have lived in Manhattan for most of my life and have experienced some really wonky people… But she was just scary and full of rage. BEWARE!!!

Wow, have never had such rude service. As I got to the counter to hand my cash over to the woman, I made a comment that they should put their $ 15 credit card minimum on the door. The woman became extremely rude, got all huffy and puffy and literally told me she wouldn’t sell to me. What? Sorry for the feedback. DONOTGOHERE — incredibly unfriendly. Oh and the wine collection is shit.

I can’t believe the negative reviews. This is a small neighborhood store in an area where there isn’t much of anything let alone a liquors store. I have always been treated well, given good service and advice and am happy this store is where it is. They have a good selection for a small store and they deliver, too.

Never mind the poor selection of wines/liquor. The owners/workers are so extremely freakin’ rude, angry and mean. I’m surprised they’re in business. They act like they’re doing the customer a favor. I went there to get a good wine as a gift. They were annoyed and angry with my questions about their products. They need to go to an anger management seminar. Will NEVER return.

Best liquor store in the city! Friendly service! I will definitely purchase my alcohol from this store.

I’m not quite sure what the other reviews are talking about, or perhaps over the years, they have improved but this is my go-to liquor store in midtown. Although slightly more expensive than the warehouses around the island, what can you expect from a family run store? The ladies at the counter are always courteous, helpful, and ready with a smile.

Want some interesting wines at good prices? Then don’t bother going to Madison Avenue Liquor. Their selection is horrible, it’s expensive, the staff is unfriendly, the layout of the store is bad — there’s really nothing positive about this establishment other than the fact that it may be open or convenient under extenuating circumstances. Even then, I’d probably bring a marble rye to a dinner party before purchasing wine/liquor here. I might even go with a second backup plan if the bakery were closed.

I was in the neighborhood looking for a not so rare specific brand of vodka to buy(«Russian Standard») and stumbled upon this liquor store. Inside selection was ordinary and mediocre. I’ve asked the old man behind the counter if they sell that specific vodka I’m looking and received a reply: «Why are you looking for ordinary? I don’t want to hear about it. BYE!» and showed me the door. I guess answering questions about liquor in a liquor store is something that’s not part of his job. On the other hand, reading a newspaper in an empty store is.
