Do not go here!!! I went here today Got a powder fill which was a rip off. they overcharge the customers. She told me $ 30 for the fill and somehow it got to $ 37. The woman made almost every one of my cuticles bleed and she filed my nails so much that they started burning and I had to back away. She only did two coats of polish and you can still see white spots on my nails under the polish. There are definitely better places around for nails

I’m not very happy with the way they did my nails. They didn’t explain the price and what they wanted to do to us. The sign outside says 20 $ but we paid 33,5 $. Much more then we expected. While they were doing our nails they were talking in an asian language and we felt like they were talking about us. Now 2 days later my nails are already broken. There is air underneath the gel so i needed to take them off.

My first visit here for a gel manicure was a positive one. Clean and quick service, fairly priced.

I come in every few weeks for a gel manicure. Am always seen within a few minutes, but the last two visits have been awful. Today I came in for a gel manicure, and Tina messed my nails up! She had just been eating, so she smelled of food. And she weirdly did one hand before the other instead of switching back and forth. The gel was so thick that it rippled and bubbled. She said she had to fix two nails so she started filing away at this thick gel she just put on my nails. I told her that it needed to be a thin layer(I am a licensed cosmetologist) as for I know how to apply gel polish. She told me I could come back tomorrow for«a fix». I should not have paid for my service since my gel manicure is thick and rippled. Will most likely not be coming back again.

Stop by after my trip to goodwill to get a pedicure and manicure and wound up getting spa pedicure and gel mani –I am the only client there during 4pm. The girl who did my nail is really sweet(she’s the only Spanish girl there while other ladies are korean) she took a very very long time with my pedicure –this is by far the longest pedicure I’ve ever got. She scrub, file, cut, massage, mask, and scrub and mask again it’s like never ending process but I really enjoy it. The gel manicure is quick and do the job. I came in at 3.30 and left at 5.35 this mani pedi took 2 hrs! I truly appreciated her for spending so much times on my feet. And I really do need some pamper on those feet after all this running around. The total come out to 100 $ which is kinda pricey considered the place are really just a no frill nail salon but the treatments are really worth it. I will definitely come back here again.

Came in for a quick manicure. $ 11 for a quick dry manicure. This place is decent for what I was looking for — fairly cheep, fairly clean, fairly good customer service and quality. I’d probably go back if I was in a pinch but it would not be my first choice.

I like that they play soft piano music in the background(vs. Pop or modern) since it’s very relaxing. Also, I think they are good at keeping the place immaculate — it looks spotless. They use disposable tools for every job on top of their cleanliness. I only take off the one star for the weak color selection. My pedicure($ 23) was done by Vicky who was polite and efficient. There was no nipping or pain which was great.

Don’t bother going here for a mani or pedi. I think the manicurist that i had was named Suki. I got a regular pedicure and gel shellac manicure. The pedi was quick and she didn’t even buff my toenails or remove any calluses from my feet. For my nails I have had gel manicures done dozens of times so I know the steps that should be taken. She never buffed my nails in order to roughen the beds and ensure that my polish would stick to the nail and she only let me put my nails under the UV light as long as it took her to do whatever she was doing on the other hand. Then when I was paying I wanted to leave the tip on my credit card I was told that she would do it for me this one time but in the future she wants cash, then when I told her the tip amount to add to my card she said to me «that’s it». The next day my manicure, which is supposed to last 2 – 3 weeks, had already began peeling and was completely chipped in every finger 3 days later. There are other nail places in the area that I will be frequenting instead of this place.

I’ve been here a couple times and had pretty good experiences. Recently, I went in for a pedicure. Vicky was the one selected to do it and I have to say it was one of the worst pedicures I’ve had. The one thing I can say is that it was VERYFAST, but it was basically a polish job and not much more. She was extremely passive. The woman next to me was also getting a pedicure and she was in the chair twice as long, getting her feet scrubbed and massaged. I asked her if she had paid extra and she said it was just a basic pedicure like mine. I felt quite ripped off. The result was ok, so I gave two stars. I just don’t recommend Vicky for a pedicure. UPDATE — pedicures usually last me weeks — this one chipped after two days. Very poor job!

So I usually go to Nailscure on 1st ave just north of 88th because it’s really cheap and am satisfied(depending on who I get) but I was lazy and it was hot and ‘mforu was on my way back to my apartment from the subway. I’ve been here a few times before and have been happy with the end result but this time the girl who did my nails was REALLY thorough and I felt like my toes had never been more carefully and thoroughly tended to. I was extremely happy — this one experience might have me switching my neighborhood spot. As for the polish selection… normal color selection: good(if you’re a play-it-safe kinda gal — pinks, peaches, reds, you’re set) playful fun color selection: you know, neons, blues, greens, the random colors… not so great. for that you’re better off bringing your own or going somewhere else and it’s mostly essie with a small selection of OPI but these days I feel like that’s pretty standard. If you want a good selection of both –there’s a great place in the East Village(orchid on 1st and 9th)

Out of sheer convenience and personal grooming necessity, I went to ‘M for U nails for an eyebrow wax. I normally go to a spot down by Macy’s on 35th street, but time did not allow for this, so around the block I went. The wax room is quite small as I laid down, noticing that I fit almost perfectly from head to toe on the table(I’m 5’2). The woman took her time and used ample wax, so initially I thought she was being intricate and thorough. When I got home, well… she definitely did a good job in cleaning up the area. But damn, she might have tweezed a little too close for my skin’s comfort. I actually did go back a few days later for a mani/pedi and bikini wax because I didn’t have time again to go down to 35th street. I figured my eyebrows experience wasn’t that bad, so why not try again. I do admit I entered at 7pm when they close at 8pm, so they did a two person job — one person doing the pedi and one doing the mani at the same time. While the nail polish was being applied, I realized just how bad their lighting is because the nail polish I picked did not necessarily resemble the colors that ended up on my nails. Sigh. I also was even more uncomfortable with the bikini wax as the women did not seem to have a problem with not fully closing the door as you stood there adjusting your articles of clothing. They also used way too much baby powder for my own liking. I mean… my nostrils felt completely filled with powder and I had powder all over my legs and on my dress. Thank goodness I was on my way home. I think for basic nail care, they do a good job with cleaning up and what not, but I would not necessarily go back for their waxing services.

A friend whom I hadn’t seen since college was in town and wanted a mani/pedi so when the original place we wanted to try was all booked up, we wandered into ‘M for U. With summer supposedly on its way, I’m sure I’ll be back. They did a very good, thorough job and were very, very friendly. Sumi did my nails and I liked her a lot, she was sweet. Of course when she finished the pedicure the first thing I did was drop my bag on my foot smudging my toes(and getting nail polish on my bag) but she was really nice about it. Including taxes(but not tip), the mani/pedi cost $ 32.50 — pretty reasonable. I think they also have a cheaper deal during the week.
