Tried Lumpia Shack at Smorgasburg Seaport. We were browsing the vendors in the area and my companion wanted to try some Filipino food. I was hesitant, but also curious to see if the food lived up to the name. It was $ 8 for a few inch-long lumpia rolls. For someone who has grown up around this stuff, sticker shock ensued for such a premium on that small portion. But I suppose mobile kitchens have to make a buck somehow. Crisp didn’t hold, rolls got cold quick under the drizzle of weak sauce. To say I was disappointed is an understatement, and I wish I could’ve offered a higher rating. I do hope the experience is different at the brick and mortar location. If I come across this brand on my next visit to NYC, I’ll go after their bowls to see if the hype is in fact real.

My god my mouth is still watering! Tried their mushroom lumpia fried spring rolls that come with this creamy sauce and spicy peppers on top; insane. The flavors were a burst of vegetable, crunchy, and yumminess. I will definitely come back to try their other items!
