Has gone down hill. I’ve only had pizza here but it’s not what it once was. It’s not horrible is the best I can say. And in a city of great pizza, I won’t be back.

Great slice! We had the cheese, pepperoni, Sicilian and Chicken parm. All were very good. Perfect NY crust.

Fellow Unilocalers, why? Went in for a plain square slice. Bit into a lot of unmelted cheese, and a ton of crust followed. MIGHT give them another chance of a regular slice, but most likely not.

Ordered for the first time yesterday, lunch special with regular Spaghetti & Meatballs. It was just ehhh. On the drier side with not enough sauce but did have Basil(which was actually overpowering the taste). Very bland which was disappointing as I really wanted Spaghetti. I added Chipotle Tabasco sauce to help, but it didn’t.

Great little pizza/subs/pasta place. Stop here every time we come down from Boston. Food is great and staff very pleasant.

Closest place to Lincoln Center that did not require a 1 hour wait to get in. Pizza and sandwiches were as good as any other pizzeria in NYC. Service was relatively quick and they have plenty of tables(albeit configured strangely)

The chicken salad here makes an excellent take-out lunch. I’ve been eating it for years and it never disappoints. it’s not the mayo version that one might think. It’s a green salad with two kinds of lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, and olives plus chicken. The chicken comes either breaded and fried or grilled — both are excellent. In fact, the quality of the chicken rates with the chicken in many real restaurants, the expensive sit-down type. Pizza cheese is a nice topping. The final ingredient is a delicious italian dressing and fresh italian bread is served on the side. An excellent meal for $ 10. The meatball and chicken parm look really good too, but I’ve avoided them so far trying to be a little more healthful.

Luigi’s is right across from my office, and I grab a slice once and a while. Not too often, but the few times I went the slices were ok. Maybe a little too big and not well done enough for my taste, but decent. Never had any other food here, but they do have a full menu. It does get crowded, and seating is limited, so get there early if you want a seat.

I am not sure where to start with this review. On one of the most important days in US Soccer history, Luigi’s Pizza failed to win, or even draw for that matter. The service and delivery time was absolutely unacceptable. I would not recommend ordering from here under ANY circumstances. There are tons of fantastic pizza restaurants in NYC and even some mediocre ones, that actually deliver food within a reasonable time. We ordered a fairly basic order from Luigi’s — a few pizzas and some salads. Fast forward two and half hours later and multiple phone calls, our cold pizza showed up. I am not even going to give the food a rating because that would not be fair. I will just say they it is quite obvious they started to ignore our phone calls and the customer service was just terrible. BEWARE!!!

I can not stop ordering the baked ziti. Delivery comes very quickly, packed up with bread. Very cheap and the guys are nice. This is not real Italian food but it is still tasty for what it is.

Mediocre at best, definitely not a good place for Italian food. Not really much else to say. Food is fairly bland. Guess I shouldn’t have expected too much, but definitely not a place I’d recommend…

For a few months I was obsessed with their chicken ceasar salad(chicken cutlet please) or a small green salad with the tasty chicken cutlet. It’s such a large salad and the bread they throw in is pretty tasty too!

This is a solid take out/delivery place. Clearly pizza is their thing but pasta is fine also. If you order an extra large pizza pie with everything, that’s only a dollar more than a large pie with everything and you order 2 of them, you can feed your super bowl party!(I must say their pasta used to come out really al dente — before they moved. Now it is a bit more on soft side). If you go for pasta, I recommend you at least look at their entrée first. I think it provides even more value in my opinion. But of course if you want simple pasta, then pasta dishes it is. If you do that, you can choose from several different kinds of pasta to be served with the sauce of your choice. One thing I personally don’t recommend is their heroes. Their focaccia bread comes out a bit soggy. But then of course I haven’t had it for a while, so they may have changed the liquidiness of their bread.

Good for drunk dining or a quick bite if you’re in the ‘hood… but other than that the pizza is a snoozefest. Don’t get me wrong… it’s not terrible. But in a city like New York you have a world of pizza at your feet and nobody should really go out of their way to try this one.

my trip to new york consisted of a 4 night stay. during these 4 nights I managed to eat roughly 30 slices of new york pizza. that being said, luigis pizza wasn’t remembered and is therefore cast somewhere into the middle of the stack. I wouldn’t go out of my way for it, but if i was next door i’d probably eat it. whatever!

I’ve tried a few different types of their pizza(s). It’s okay but not good and definitely not great — the crust is too doughy and buttery, they use too much of their overly sweet sauce, and the meats are a little too salty for my taste — but it’s not horrible, either…

First, this place is now on 8th ave btw 55th and 56th street. I guess they moved because of the reasons stated in Stuart’s review below. As many people have already noted, their pizza is alright, decent, not the best but if craving a NY style greasy pizza, it hits the spot great. I like it thought cuz they’re open late(great for those late night grease needs) and they have really good/quasi-great other stuff besides pizza. Although greasy(starting to spot a pattern about this spot?), I love their chicken rolls, some of the best I’ve had anywhere, totally cheesy and with just enough chicken, tomatoes and other fillings to keep things awesome. Their salads are huge & tasty as are their lasagna & sandwiches. I’d give these guys a 4 but frankly their service really is pretty crappy. The guys behind the counter are borderline rude but I don’t go into pizzeria’s in NY looking for the best service. If you’re complaining about service at a pizzeria in NY, you’re probably not from NY and expecting too much. All i want is my food and to get the F out. These guys let me do that, they let me get greasy food and the occassional salad when I’m feeling the urge to be healthy and for that… they’re my go-to pizza/lasagna/chicken salad/chicken roll/hero spot in the area.

Consider this 2.5 stars. I’ve been eating food from Luigi’s for years and years. They moved from quite a large location(because their building was being demolished) to a smaller one. They make the best chicken salad: slices of fried chicken on a great salad with a good dressing and reasonably priced. Decent slices of pizza although I must admit I like a plain pizza vs. topped with everything but the kitchen sink. Do NOT expect GREAT… just decent. Good minestrone soup too. But…they are soooooo sloooooow. Last night it took 20 minutes to get a take out order of soup. And I was the only one there.

I came here today after class. It was a somewhat busy inside and there were these girls making a whole bunch of noise in the upfront sitting area of the store. I was trying to decide if I wanted to stay and listen to them. I ordered a regular slice of pizza. which was $ 2.50 While I was waiting for my pizza to be ready, I noticed there was a table in the back area… I was seriously happy to see this table vacant. Now I could eat in and I didn’t have to sit upfront with all that noise. Service was quick. The pizza was good — it was not spectacular. I was not expecting spectacular anyways, so it lived up to my expected standards of a pizza store such as this. It was not too cheesy, which I appreciated. I mean I ate the crust — that’s a compliment, because I rarely eat the crust. The two things bad about this place are the line can get unorganized and the path is so narrow inside where you order and pay for your food.

This place is pretty decent, in my opinion. The crust is ok, not anything special. Good variety of toppings on individual slices(varying quality), but the prices change based on what the oven guy says. Their garlic knots are quite good. Same goes for their eggplant parm hero, which is really good. They don’t have thin-crust, so if that’s what you’re after, go to Sacco(which is overpriced imo). Luigi’s is my go-to pizza place in the neighborhood.
