The bar downstairs should be renamed«Lovely Surprise» as it is a lovely surprise. The food is good, drinks are good and decently priced. This is one of those«i need to impress a date without trying to hard» places and yes, it’s a homerun.(Id be impressed with Michelin stars any day, but im the type of gal who loves anything that works well, regardless of pricepoint) You’re welcome.

The salmon with mashed sweet potato entrée is my favorite. I haven’t really had a chance to try anything else as I always order this when I visit.

This is a 5-star place — I had originally docked 3 stars because of consistent service issues, but I know the owner and management are working on this with staff, so bumping back up. This is the cutest, most wonderful environment. The food is consistently great, the bartenders are largely great, the downstairs sneak-in is great. Even during Fashion Week when it’s packed to the gills with everything you hate about NoLiTa, it reminds you of why you live in NoLiTa. I go 2 – 4 times per week… or, I went 2 – 4 times per week. As summer comes in, the strategic order is a michelada and the spicy papaya salad and chicken, but it’s also difficult for me to leave without ordering the Tuna Tartar and/or Tuna Roll(which is enormous chunks of beautifully seared rare tuna wrapped in a paper-thing crunchy layer of something like rice paper) on a bed of greens, not a sushi roll). In the winter, my best friend who lives in Park Slope insists on lunch here with me weekly because she swears they make the best hot toddy in the city. You really can’t go wrong with anything at the bar and you’ll see as many people drinking outstanding cocktails as you will a simple bottle of Modelo. Bring in good company or a book, put on your patience hat, and enjoy yourself :)

This place was highly recommended to me by several friends, so i tried it out. I’m sad to say that I will not be returning anytime soon. Food: They call themselves a thai place, but the pad thai — the most basic thai food known to america — was terrible. It was smothered with ketchup and all we could taste was the ketchup. It was lukewarm when it was served to us, which made it even worse. How do you mess up pad thai? Also one of our party ordered chicken curry but they brought out shrimp curry so that took another 10 minutes or so to get the order fixed. Service: Slow. It’s like, uhh. please take our order please? And when we did order, it was like uhh… could we get our food please? And when we wanted to pay, it was like uhh… could you please take our credit card please? I was so surprised by the slowness in every front; given the number of seats I thought the table turn would be faster. Sad to say it was not the greatest experience and I will not be returning unless I had a compelling reason.

I love Lovely Day and their food but their service is horrible. Ordered delivery and waited over an hour. Kept calling and then they told me the delivery person came to my apt and left because he couldn’t find it. I order delivery all the time, I have never had this problem before. The woman who answered the phone told me I could walk to Lovely Day to pick up my now cold food if I wanted. They didn’t call me saying they had a problem finding my place, I had to call them. Then she hung up on me. Extremely rude and lots of attitude. I am a loyal customer but will never be going back.

Cute little place that serves cheap good sized portions of fan favourites such as eggs, nutella pancakes, and pad thai. Decent matcha latte, good coffee, and amazing fruit juice.

I had the tom ga soup, the chinese broccoli, and the papaya salad. The have homemade hot sauce! I also ordered a dark and stormy to drink. Everything was delish and the soup was standout. Left when it got too crowded around 8:00pm. Extra points for atmosphere push the whole experience to a 5 cause this place is cozy as f — —

This place has the worst service and attitude combination I have ever experienced in New York City. It astonishes me that they had the nerve to name it «Lovely Day», but maybe it’s ironic.

FOODGREATSERVICEBAD: READBELOW. Really excellent food and a nice overall feel to this place. I had the tuna tartare which was excellent as a starter, and for a main course I had the red curry. For the most part I would say this was a pretty good experience with the exception of the service at the end of the meal. It seemed as if they were understaffed on the evening I went, however, when I paid the bill, they first forgot to bring us the dessert yet were able to bring me the check and collect all prior. Further, I was questioned very rudely on the amount I tipped!($ 5 dollars card + $ 5 dollars cash) on a $ 50 dollar dinner. Perhaps she didn’t see the 5 dollars I left on the table, but I have never been accused in such a way by someone like that before. This entire experience was unfortunate for this reason, and although I would recommend this place based on the quality of the food I ate, I certainly wouldn’t based on the service I received. Plain and Simple.

For a place named ‘Lovely Day’; they sure have an extremely rude waitress. The food was good but failed to balance out poor service.

Cute place, does the trick! Exactly as described by others. Doesn’t pretend to be anything it isn’t, and does what it does decently.

This place is awesome. Great prices, friendly staff– service is quick but not too in your face which I appreciate. I loved loved the pad thai. I’ve studied abroad in multiple Asian countries and will say this is comparably one of the best in nyc. This is a great date spot because it is super casual and affordable. The ambiance is also on point– loved the lighting, particularly in the evening hours. Also very good location for anyone living in the NYU area.

Lovely Day is a cute Thai/Irish diner. Not sure how Thai/Irish quite work together, but what this means if you can get pad thai and irish style breakfast from the same damn menu, and that’s pretty legit. We came here for brunch, tried a bunch of different dishes. the fried rice was definitely a stand out. My scrambled eggs were an odd color and consistency, and the ginger hash brown did not impress. Salmon and egg sandwich were decent. A big plus for me was the delicious thai iced tea, and here you can get it with soy milk! I’m a huge thai iced tea lover but I’m also lactose intolerant, so being able to get soy thai iced tea is a done deal for me. Loved how cheap this place is, but the service was inexplicably slow(we were one of 5 tables during a normal brunch time). Because of the fried rice and thai iced tea, I would definitely give this place another shot.

Great food, rude & disinterested staff. They only take cash or AMEX which is unusual. Thai inspired modern American fusion food, with an element of Japanese & Chinese flavour. The fired chicken & pad-thai are awesome, and all of the curries are great too. I felt annoyed to tip such arrogant service, but that’s a part of it. End story is the great food out weighs the inexcusably bad service.

Was running late so I popped in here without reading any reviews. My mistake. Douchiest bartender ever. Seriously, the worst. He maybe said three words to me. Don’t expect things like utensils. Don’t sit at the bar. Don’t ask him for recommendations, or water. Just don’t. Food was meh. So many other choices around here. Just don’t.

I wanted to try Irish food for the first time and chose this place on a whim. It was interesting to see that they had Thai options too but I solely went for the Irish options. I came for brunch and had an omelet. You get to choose two toppings, which I chose avocados and tomatoes. it comes with a salad, two Irish sausages, beans and two pieces of toast. My first bite was good, but after a few more bites, the flavors became kind of dull and unappetizing. A friend that I came with had the same experience and we both did not even finish half our dishes. The omelet also didn’t look very appealing but I guess that adds to the rustic feel of the dish? I also ordered a Matcha Green Tea Latte that I never received because the waiter forgot to write down. The food is cheaper than a lot of places in the city and honestly I chose the place mainly because of the name, but it didn’t look as lovely inside as I thought it would. I pictured flowers and great lighting but it was more wooden and rundown.

I gotta admit, finding a brunch place to accommodate 8 people is by no means an easy task, but my friend managed to call in a reservation here about two days beforehand. I thought it would be a perfect place for our group, half of us not loving breakfast food and the other half craving it. This is a Thai + Irish fusion place(there was loud Irish? music playing), and while the thought is odd, my friends all loved their brunch foods. On the other hand, two of my friends and myself ordered the Hobo Noodle(9.50), which is highly mentioned on Unilocal.None of us were impressed. The dish consisted of broad flat noodles, chicken pieces, and bell peppers. It was pretty much the blandest Thai dish I’ve ever had. I believe it was suppose to be spicy, but it wasn’t, not even too someone who can’t handle spicy at all(me). I knew I should’ve had the Pad Thai! I did enjoy the Matcha Sweet Green Tea Latte with soy milk(4.50) that I ordered. It was very very sweet, and refreshing. My friends loved their maple granola(7.50), Eggs Norwegian(poached eggs with salmon, hash fritters, salad 14.00), and smoked salmon sandwich(7.50), so if you decide to come here, please stick to breakfast foods! I probably wouldn’t come back here though.

This place is a hidden gem! Super cozy very small but just perfect . Tried the hot toddy– so good! Perfect for the cold weather. I also had the tuna tartare which was great minus the chips it came with. They were a bit on the flavorless side but on a brighter note the tuna tartare was on special for $ 8 and the quantity was perfect for me :) The bartender was awesome and very attentive– aside from having a cast on one of his arms! Would definitely recommend going here with a small group of friends or even on a date!

Weird. Thai + Irish? The décor is some kind of rundown kitsch. The red tables look like the ones from old school Chinese restaurants. The music is way too loud. The service is polite but incompetent. They’re really nice but truly bad at their job. The food is mediocre and I don’t see how any of it is Irish. There was a table to 7 that were waiting for pay and get change for about the whole 20 minutes we were waiting for our table. Once the table finally left, one waiter started cleaning it up in the most inefficient and ridiculous manner. He could only carry one small stack of glasses and 2 plates on the other hand at a time… and this was after multiple tries and deliberation. It was a complete joke. I do have to give him credit for being careful and wiping the table thoroughly for cleanliness. Oh, and they also calculate each and every bill by hand via a calculator. I. can’t…even… Finally, the food. Green papaya salad was pretty good and I liked how they added avocado. Pad Thai was served with the wrong protein(we asked for shrimp and they gave us chicken). The waiter took the dish back and gave us a replacement very quickly(despite taking a long time previously. which makes me wonder if they just used the same noodles and switched out the meat). Now that I think about it, they must’ve recooked the same noodles because this dish was very watery, soupy even. Green curry is okay. The pineapple cashew vegetables tastes like a Americanized-Chinese takeout dish, neither Thai nor Irish. PASS.

Another long overdue review of Lovely Day. I want to start of by saying that the food and prices are phenomenal, however the loud music and not so good service kind of ruin this place for me. I have only been here a couple of times, however both the times my friends and I have waited a good a mount of time for the food. Personally I don’t think waiting for the food is unreasonable when the place is packed(which it often is), however being totally neglected by your waiter who does not even ask you if you would like water, or when you ask for water still do not show up with water just don’t cut it for me. One time the waiter even removed my drink before I was finished drinking it and spilled it all on the table. She barely apologized! After that I really haven’t been back. I do miss the amazing food though! A is a marvelous taste experience. If you can sit through some poor service it is absolutely worth a visit! Waiters can always improve so you might even get lucky !!

Impresionante!
