Context: have been multiple times and liked it. Service recently has fallen off an absolute cliff. Today we sat at the bar(not in a secluded corner or anything). We had to yell at the bartender to get him to acknowledge our half of the bar(he didn’t take a single order from us, or the people sitting on either side for 30 minutes). Finally, he took our order and promptly forgot. 10 minutes later we left and had still not received drinks or a menu. Will be a long time before loft 142 gets a second chance.

Very nice place! Digging it for sure. I am definitely a fan of the music they play here. Last time I was at Loft they were bumping, some sexy 90’s r&b. Yes I’m really into that! Although they don’t have anything here for me to eat I would go back for drinks, definitely easy on a budget and their happy hour deals are unbeatable. This place is always packed, especially on weekends. I’ve yet to attend their drag brunch, but I will most certainly make it soon. Great service and music, good drinks, and plenty of seating! You know I’m there.

This was my first time going there with a friend for Bernie’s debate gathering, and the atmosphere was pretty cool. But, the bartender was just incredibly rude. When I tried to get his attention to place an order, he ignored me three times. He looked right at me, and then nothing. He just looked away. I thought since it’s a busy night, maybe he’s just distracted. But, I got angry when I saw a lady who came in later getting her drink, I knew something was really off about this bartender. I asked him about my drinks, and he said it’s coming. But, he just walked away and stood there. When I asked him about my food, he kept saying it’s coming. It got to a point where people started to notice. When others started asking about my food, he asked me to pay again! I didn’t know what to think of this. He said he was just too busy, but compare to how he was with other customers, it seemed intentional. Someone from the bar apologized and tried to help, but it just wasn’t pleasant.

I came here first like 2 years ago when I was visiting. The following year I decided to move here in Nyc. The capirhanas are pretty good and I love their hookah. The service is always nice and professional. The music is a mixture of hispanic and popular music. I say go for a drink and go upstairs.

Wow. So this is my second time back since the first 3 star rating I gave them. My friend was in town and wanted a spot to grab drinks and I decided to give this place another try since it was nearby. Today I got a new server by the name of Michael. He literally started 3 days ago but you couldn’t tell because he was so personable and on top of his game. Ordered the shrimp tacos and they were amazing!!! They were full of flavor but at the same time light. Is that possible ??? Well they were !!! The service and atmosphere on this trip ALONE was everything. The music was rocking all night and tad bit loud so I wouldn’t recommend trying to have a serious conversation. I brought my compliments up to the manager on duty how his new employer has won me over and that I shall return. Happy hour goes from 4 – 7 and apparently on Tuesday it becomes Thirsty Tuesday starting at 8 in which there is 50 cent wings and $ 2 Shots on the hour.

Great food and wait staff is very friendly. The presentation of the food struck me first. I’ve had the calamari which is tasty and the teryaki wings which were great and artfully placed. Lastly the burger was perfectly cooked. Definitely would recommend to someone wanting to grab a quick bite and drink with someone

I had high hopes for this place :/ I’ve wanted to try the place out since it opened and had the opportunity on 11⁄25. Got in a few minutes before happy hour was over at 7PM and ordered two pitchers of lackluster Sangria for $ 25 each which barely gave us 4 full glasses due to the overload of ICE in the pitcher. At $ 5 a glass for HH we would of been better off ordering individual glasses but our thought was«8 glasses overcrowded this narrow table… better off with the pitcher.» Later in the evening we moved onto cocktails. I normally have a Moscow Mule… No ginger beer on site… requested a Coco Loso and waited and waited… 10 minutes later I asked about my drink and the waiter said«What is that?» OK not his fault but speaks volumes of the bartender who is clueless about a drink that is very well known in the NYC area… Ciroc Boys… Diddy… I felt like i was in Berlin, Germany. Google it from your phone that you were just holding Sir bartender and don’t leave me hanging! We also had food. I ordered the Harlemnite burger medium well… I got a crisp hockey puck that burned the roof of my mouth due to the mega hot, just out the oil, bacon. Yes I could of sent back… but its not in my nature to return food since I’ve heard stories — unrelated to this location. Was it the waiter who failed to deliver my request or the cook who took it upon himself? Nonetheless I was failed on all angles and left very unsatisfied.

I was excited to try this place out for drinks and snacks. My first impression is that for a place that advertise itself as a «Gastropub» it had a very small and typical bar food menu, matched by a very small and generic beer line up(Heineken, Modelo, etc). Draft beers came in 2 sizes, and I was surprised that for $ 7-$ 8, you only get a small 12oz pour, not even the standard 16oz pint! For a non-special beer, that’s more expensive than most places in Manhattan, let alone Hamilton Heights. Given the options around, I see no reason to revisit.

If I wanted to see Mike Tyson’s taste in furniture, I would have gone to his house. The zebra and leopard striped couches are really not to be missed. The drinks were 100% sugar, syrups and 100% gross. I couldn’t finish my margarita.

Stopped by Monday night with a date for cocktails and dinner. They impressed me throughout my whole experience there. Drinks at the bar: Super friendly Danielle expertly helped us choose the perfect drinks. I enjoy refreshing, not very sweet cocktails and decided on their luscious green. Gin, basil, citrus and cucumber. Extremely well balanced and refreshing. Best cocktail I’ve had in New York and I’ve tried many craft cocktails from mixologists around the city. Dinner in the«loft» upstairs: Super cool seating area with plush booths and a lounge vibe. Our server Josh was quick to answer questions and give excellent service. I had the«Loft Burger». Phenomenal. Bone marrow mayo. Shallot Jam. Premium beef. Definitely on my top ten burger list. My date had the fluke ceviche which was excellent and unique, using tigers milk and crispy corn. If you want both high caliber cocktails and an excellent menu, this is the place.

This spot is awesome! The bartenders are friendly and the cocktails are delicious. What more can you ask! I’ve been there on nights that are a little more calm and it’s been a great place to have a good conversation, and I’ve been there when they’ve been packed. Both crowds were fun and relaxed. I look forward to my next visit!

I don’t understand all of these negative reviews on here, but I absolutely love this place. You can’t beat their happy hour($ 5 sangria/margaritas, $ 3 Coronas) and the food is great! The staff is all extremely personable(shoutouts to bartenders Geoffrey and Drew) and very accommodating. I’ve been to all of the bars nearby and this is the only one that consistently gets my business. The place is still relatively new so if there are a couple of issues here and there I cut them some slack because as someone who works in the restaurant industry I understand how it is. It’s not going to be perfect just yet but I think this place will only get better over time!

The biggest overpriced joke in Harlem. We got a ceasar salad that was Wendy’s level, and buffalo skewers that were disgusting, almost like diner level, each costing 12 dollars each and a whiskey sour that cost 10, although the waiter didn’t mention any of this when offering it to us. Save your money and a trip, this place is a rip off. Head to Harlem Public instead for an amazing 12 dollar burger that’ll feed five.

My biggest complaint is that this place calls itself a «gastropub.» Clearly they have NOIDEA what a gastropub is, or even what a pub is for that matter. They must have heard somewhere that gastropubs are«in» so let’s call our new place that and people will come. Kind of like when«lounges» were a popular concept 15 years ago. A real pub(or gastropub) has a great selection of draft beer. Loft 142’s pathetic selection of 4 beers on draft includes two common, sad beers — Blue Moon and Modelo. Really? You call yourself a gastropub and 50% of your 4 tap lines are wasted on this?!? I don’t go to a pub for bottled beer because I can get that at any corner store. It seems that they are more interested in being a cocktail bar which is fine, but do not call yourself something that you are not. Also, the bottled beers that they refer to as «local» are not local at all(CA, PA, MD are not«local»). I think the word you are looking for is «domestic», not«local.» In all fairness I have not tried the food, but I actually looked at the menu and nothing really interested me. It is a very limited and unoriginal menu and at high prices for the neighborhood. Do some interesting twists on traditional pub fare if you want to call yourself a gastropub. That’s what the concept is actually about — not just slapping on the label gastropub. They did spend some money on the renovation and the space looks good with some nice details(the reason it gets two stars from me instead of one). Although some of the décor upstairs is rather garish and cheesy in my opinion. I understand they were going for an eclectic look, an idea I usually like, but some of the elements are a bit off-putting and tacky. This place really needs to figure out its concept if it wants to succeed in the increasingly-competitive market in Hamilton Heights. As it stands it is a jumbled mess. If you want to see how this concept is done properly, check out Harlem Public a few blocks to the north. They have a great draft beer selection, fun and reasonably priced bar food and good cocktails. The only problem with Harlem Public is that they are usually too crowded to get into because they do what they do so well. Not sure Loft 142 will have this same problem unless they re-think their concept and quickly.

Cool chill place to hang but the menu is ridiculously over priced. I can get a better salad at the grocery store for a 2 – 3 bucks. 9 bucks for something that takes three bites to finish. Fuck that place, owner thinks he is being slick. Owner stop wishful thinking, its gonna ruin you quick. I will not go back, and strongly suggest y’all save your money around that place. The first people that gave positive reviews on this place either works there or was butter up by the staff to say anything. Don’t believe them.

Ah another new bar on Broadway in a rapidly gentrifying Harlem. I mean Hamilton Heights ;). Luckily this joint doesn’t disappoint. I came here with the roomies to grab a spur of the moment drink on a Monday night. The boys went with their selection of IPAs and local beers. We took«local» to mean brewed in Harlem but apparently it meant America in general. All good. We enjoyed our beers and free popcorn. The atmosphere was a bit funky with the excess Bose speakers hanging from the ceiling and the array of horned artifacts on one wall, not to outdo the vintage suitcases hanging above the door. We sipped and people watched but about half of the watching was the staff as the place had some people wander in but most passer-bys just acknowledged the new establishment with a curious gaze. Again, it was Monday night so whatever. We loved the bar tender!(Funny cool girl whose name I will edit in when we go back). There was even a meet-cute sing along with the guys sitting next to us when we all joined in the singing of one of the many classic 90s hits that were playing on the bar backs ipod. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I have yet to try the food but I will be back to do so. Come here people, especially if you live in the neighborhood!

Approximately two weeks into opening, Loft 142 is a colossal hit! Thursday — Saturday nights here are popping — which means that as someone allergic to parties, I avoid the crowds and come here during their happy hour; which, as my Irish luck would have it is quite amazing! Came here with Thrilla, and enjoyed their 5 $ margarita special and delicious red sangria that had been marinating with the fruits for just the right amount of time. Their draft menu is still under construction, but I was tickled pink to find that they had Lagunitas IPA from my hometown-area in northern California! 6 $ for a pint, 9 $ for a 20oz glass — however neither were on happy hour unfortunately which I found out after paying full price. In short, Loft 142 is a fantastic place to go with a group to blow off steam or just hang out and watch news and sports highlights on their spanning big screen TVs seamlessly installed above the bar. Hopefully they get the beer on their HH menu soon and iron out a couple kinks but so far I am most definitely a fan and although we’ve been barraged by multiple new bars opening up in the last seven months I’ve lived here — this one is absolutely embraced with open arms.
