I don’t care if this place is closed, it will forever be 5 star in my book lol. Not a Unilocal elite worthy review, but thats it. Great happy hours and amazing atmosphere!

It’s too bad that this location of the Lobster Joint has closed :(However, I can understand why. All the times we’ve visited NYC, we somehow never noticed it. When we went to the counter to order our meals, I asked the man taking our order how long they had been there. He said«2 ½ years». I said, «And to think, we missed seeing you here.» He said, «We hear that a lot.» So… I guess that they just weren’t getting enough traffic. As far as I can tell, their location in Greenpoint is doing well. We thought that the food was great. I ordered a New England style lobster roll. It was served on a New England style hot dog roll which was lightly toasted. The lobster portion was generous and I was pleased to see that it was lightly dressed with mayo. The light touch with the mayo meant that the delicate flavor of the lobster was not drowned out. A serving of cole slaw comes with it. I liked the cole slaw as it also was lightly dressed and well seasoned. I chose potato chips for the extra side dish. To drink, I had a lemonade that was perfectly flavored with a great balance between the sweetness and tartness. My husband had the fish and chip dinner which comes with fries. He thought that his fish was well prepared and despite being fried, was not greasy. To drink, he got a beer. This dinner was reasonably priced as it cost $ 41 + change. We almost didn’t eat here. The plan was to go to Root and Bone but… that didn’t work out. The Lobster Joint was plan B and we don’t regret it! On a future trip to NYC, we would certainly consider going to the one in Greenpoint!

Relatively delicious Lobster Rolls and New England Chowder in the LES area. The Lobster Roll was a bit on the buttery side as you would expect and light on the mayonaisse! Cold warm and delicious! And the chowder was savoury and warm enough to heat your heart on a cold day. I really like the atmosphere of this place. A bit on the pricey side but not too crowded and a nice place to have lunch with some friends. Always has ESPN which means a ton of SportsCenter or marquee games on. Pretty friendly and chill to hangout here.

Best happy hour price in the city! Even better than Verlaine minus crowds! There’s varieties of drinks from rye collins, dark and stormy, applejack and sweet tea :) yummilicious sliders, I like both lobster and crab meat! There’s also oyster specials i have yet to try! Staffs and bartenders are very friendly, service was quick! I like the casual vibe and seatings, where you order your drinks and food by the bar, can either pay then or leave the tab open while enjoy your drinks and food.

Came here for an early dinner with a friend. Casual restaurant where you order at the counter and they bring it out to you. I had the Connecticut lobster roll and 2 oysters on the half shell. The lobster was really good and fresh and there was a lot on the roll(which was more like toast). Also had the Bloody Mary– really good bloody and basically a meal by itself(comes with lobster claw, pickles, celery and olives) Friend had the crab cake sandwich and crab corn chowder– both looked really good. Fun area and good if you want a casual dinner or lunch. They also have a really good brunch deal– $ 21 for bloody or mimosa and your food. Only draw back of the night was a really drunk/drugged out man was making a scene but the servers made him keep quiet and tried to control the situation. But other ban that it was a good experience

I’ve found it! I’ve found the best roll in the city!!! Great experience here. Love the layout of the restaurant and got great service. They have an excellent beer selection. The roll was just as good as it gets. Buttery, crusty, goodness. Lobster mac was bomb with healthy portions of meat. Will return here, and here only, for future lobster roll cravings.

The Lobster Joint makes the best lobster roll hands down in NYC! I am not giving this title lightly either as I spent this past summer trying lobster rolls everywhere I could. Their buns are toasted perfectly and loaded up with chucks of lobster in delicious buttery or mayoie goodness. There is just enough seasoning and they even come with a lot of fries and house pickle which are both great. A complete meal for the price unlike other places where you have to add on any sides you want. Another thing not to miss is the Bloody Mary, again, another best in the city. It comes with a delicious, huge lobster claw and is a receipe made just right. I also come here often for their happy hour which is great! They have $ 4 cocktails, which are strong but tasty, $ 1 oyster which are always plump and yummy, and $ 4 sliders of crab lobster or oyster. They have such a large menu and there are so many things I always want to try but I cannot help myself to the lobster roll every time! This is a do not miss if you love lobster in your life!

I am big fan of the Maine style lobster roll here I think it is fantastic. The sandwich is petit but well proportioned with heaps of lobster on a small roll, it is worth the money, not just shredded lobster but entire claws of meat. Fresh and delicate and cool and just how it should taste. It comes with a generous portion of fries, salad or house made chips. I am NOT a fan of the Connecticut roll, had it once, it was very disappointing. the lobster meat texture was destroyed by the absorbed grease — it was as though they had nuked or fried it to death in butter rather than dipping the delicate meat in butter. that made me sad. I stick with the Maine roll always. Bloody Mary with lobster claw looks amazing. I want to get one.

I came here with my boyfriend to grab a quick bite after work, and we were pleasant surprised at how awesome the place was! The place itself is pretty spacious and nice, so plus points for décor. For the food itself: absolutely delicious! For $ 17 each, we got both Maine and Connecticut style lobster rolls, which were incredible! They come with cole slaw, a pickle, as well as a big serving of fries so I’d say 17 bucks is pretty darn reasonable for all that! In addition, we also got the crab cake burgers, which were $ 4 each. Nothing less than delicious! I will definitely come back here the next time I’m craving lobster rolls! Awesome place!

Inconsistent. The first time I came in for brunch it was amazing. Had the prefix and I think it was $ 19. There was a barista making your coffee, steaming the milk. the bloody mary was so good, tangy, spicy, great depth of flavor as opposed to overpowering spice. The lobster benedict was transcendent. eggs perfectly poached(runny when you put your fork through), generous amount of sweet lobster, the traditional buttery roll, all topped with hollandaise… my friend had the lobster ranchero and really loved it. Came back for brunch a month or so later. Now $ 21. No more barista, serve yourself coffee(no steamed milk.), the bloody mary was bland and watery, and the eggs in my benedict were over overcooked, was like eating hard boiled eggs. My bf’s ranchero was sub par as well eggs overcooked. meh, meh! Fast forward a few months later. Went back yesterday ordered the same thing and it was awesome like the first time. still no more barista tho. But the food was excellent. For now 3 stars for inconsistency. It’s too pricy to be so hit or miss. But when it’s good it’s really good.

First things first, make sure you pay attention to where this shop actually is because I walked by here a dozen times never knowing that I walked past it a dozen times. Then when I was actually looking for it, first try, bingo. The store is located in between Katz Deli and this closed down shop which was the Turkish Kebab spot. If you walked by Katz, you have gone too far. If you don’t see the closed down shop, you aren’t there yet. If you are not in NYC, I can’t help you there. Lunch specials are posted on the stand alone boards outside which is helpful considering that most people want to know what they want to eat before entering any eatery. The space is very much like a beer garden in that the tables are long communal benched seats with a few tall wooden table sets in the back. The main menu is prominently displayed on the wall to the left as you walk in. The cashier in front of said menu and the bar directly next to it connected. They have $ 4 beers during Happy Hour but of all the drafts that I’ve seen they had I wasn’t interested in even if it was for $ 4. If you are in IPA fan, you should check this place out during Happy Hour. I ordered the lunch special of 2 sliders and soup which you can mix and match with different kinds of sliders. I opted for one crab and one lobster slider + Manhattan Clam Chowder. The sliders were good but it was smaller than I expected. Think a little smaller than White Castle sized square burgers. The filling was just as comparable in size. But the taste of the crab was good in its ball, fried form. The lobster was nice as well but nothing really stood out for me. The Manhattan Clam Chowder was good and I thoroughly enjoyed that. Service: Friendly and accommodating and even though they weren’t particularly busy at 2:30pm on a weekday, I didn’t take their cordiality for granted. I didn’t get the lobster roll which I should have but my family did and from what I heard you’d want to stay after from the Connecticut Style Lobster roll as it comes out warm instead of cold. Yuck… Go for the Maine Style. I’m a fan until I try out their other things and see if they match up.

Two words for ya– happy hour. This place is absolutely fabulous for $ 1 oysters and $ 4 sliders. Oysters are super fresh… You can taste and boy does it taste so good! As for the sliders… So yummy– lobster sliders are packed with claw meat and fried oyster and crab cakes are bursting with flavor. If you’re here for lobster– order the lobster slider– you will not be disappointed. Now onto the non-happy hour things… Lobster Mac and cheese is so awesome. I don’t know who said they didn’t get enough lobster because every bite tasted like lobster(even without lobster chunks and I’m talking chunks of lobster baked into the pasta). It was absolutely delicious. We also had their PEI mussels which were really interesting and definitely on the cheaper side for mussels. The broth they were brewed in absolutely made them flavorful and delicious. All definitely fresh because none of them were closed upon eating. As for their lobster roll, it is comparable to Luke’s but I mean you get French fries(lightly salted– pretty awesome) with it… And coleslaw plus a pickle. Totally worth it plus you can pick New England or Connecticut. New England for your creamy mayo lovers and Connecticut for all my butter fans out there! I really do love this place– it’s worth it in my opinion. But be aware– happy hour on Friday not the best time to go, you might end up standing even after your food comes it they can’t find you a place to sit. So be sure to get there a bit early and maybe ask around to see if people can free up some seats! But staff is super friendly and the food comes so quickly! They also try to help you find seats. But be aware also– the staff has so much to handle I does get kinda messy, like they will spill water and oyster brine from time to time. I also love their open ceiling. Makes the place very bright.

Awesome place for happy hour! $ 1 oysters and $ 4 lobster sliders Monday-Friday 4−7pm. The oysters are relatively fresh but sizes do vary quite a bit ranging from large to very small. My favorite is their lobster sliders. Toasted sweet buns with delicious lobster! Overall definitely coming back for happy hour. Don’t recommend their drinks. They taste either bitter or sour and the oyster shot is just horrible.

mehhhh. I think i prefer Luke’s Lobster and Red Hook Lobster Pound more. You order food at the register and then get seated with a number. The place wasn’t that crowded for an early dinner time. I like the vibe it rings. It has that ghetto shack by the beach feel. The menu is written on chalkboard. The New England Maine Lobster roll is ehhh. It was just okay. I def prefer Luke’s and Red Hooks. My gf ordered the Connecticut Lobster Roll. I do have to admit that the Connecticut version was better than the New England one. They served fresh oysters with good sauces. The cocktail sauce had a nice punch of freshly grated horseradish. The wine choices can def be better though. I do appreciate that this place has a full bar, and their blood mary looks pretty tasty. But the white wine that we ordered… SMH did not go well with the seafood at all.

It may not be the most amazing of all in terms of taste, but for price and quality, it deserves that 5. This is one of my go-to Happy Hour spots because of their nice meaty $ 1 oysters(think they are Blue Points), $ 4 oyster shooters and cheap lobster and fried oyster sliders. It does get packed fast during Happy Hour(4−7PM), but I always leave this place happy and wanting to come back! If you love seafood and want a no frills spot, definitely check this place out. Also great for groups since you can just order your food individually and sit down and not have to bother to split the bill later!

Everything you can want from a lobster roll place and then some. The inside is pretty spacious with plenty of seating at tables or at the bar. The staff here is super friendly and helpful. Its an order then seat yourself system, so you can snag a few seats first then go up and order, as it tends to get pretty crowded. They have a happy hour from where you can get half of all drinks except the Bloody Mary and 4 dollar sliders which I will tell you all about in a bit. On to the food and beverage: They have a really good cocktail list and a good beer selection: Three of my favorites drinks here: Lobster Ale(Just the right amount of hops, and not heavy) Tom Collins Bloody Mary with the Lobster claw is a must! The food: All the sliders here are perfect Its a close competition between the fried oyster slider and the lobster slider as to who is best, with the crab cake slider coming in not far behind. All three sliders come equipped with just the right amount of mayo and sweet slaw, and come standard with a soft and buttery potato bun. One thing thats amazing about this place is they don’t skimp on the seafood, all the sliders have really good portions of seafood. The Connecticut Lobster Roll with Fries is soo good. As promised in the description, it is warm and buttery and the bun is warm and buttery too. The fries are all nice and crispy and the slaw is great! If your looking for your lobster kick, there is no doubt this place will have everything and anything you would want, so far no other place like it in New York

Looking for a laid back happy hour with $ 1 oysters? Lobster Joint is the place to go! Happy Hour is from 4PM — 7PM on weekdays, which includes $ 1 oysters, $ 4 sliders(Crab Cake, Lobster, Fried Oyster), $ 4 Cocktails(all cocktails except Lobster Claw Bloody Mary), and $ 4 Draught(Draft) Beers. The establishment is simple. Three long beer-garden-like picnic tables seating approximately 12 each, and several smaller tables are situated inside. There is additional seating by the cashier counter/bar area if you prefer to chat it up with the staff. The décor resembles a nautical theme, but nothing overly extravagant. You are here for the food, not for the ambiance. There are a couple coat hooks beside each table, so I’d refrain from bringing big bags and coats, as there is no other place to put them except for the floor or on the seat stool. During our stay of a few hours, our party of 8 took over one whole bench table. The place never got more than 50% — 75% occupied. It was definitely laid back without the huge happy hour crowds. Lobster Joint is sort of like a order at the counter and eat as you go service. After perusing the vast chalkboards plastered across the one wall, you order drinks and food by the cashier counter. You open a tab by providing a credit card, which they will then give you a number mounted on a placard that you leave on your table for identification. Otherwise, you can pay as you order. Either way, you go back to your table, and wait for your drinks and food to be brought over. The $ 1 oysters were Naked Cowboys, perfectly shucked with brine intact in the half shell and sitting on a bed of ice. Served on the side were a few lemon wedges, mignonette, and cocktail sauce. The oysters were fresh, plump, and juicy. The $ 4 sliders were hit or miss. My favorite was the crab cake, which had a good balance of filler and crab. Flavor was on point and I enjoyed every bite. The lobster was my second favorite. There was a noticeable piece of lobster in it, making for an enjoyable slider. Who doesn’t like lobster? But I would have preferred on ordering another crab cake slider. My least favorite was the fried oyster. It was fried perfectly without being greasy, but I would have preferred ordering 4 more raw oysters for the same price. If you need some starch, a side order of the French Fries($ 4) is worth it. Crisp outside, potatoey inside. Portions were somewhat small, only encompassing a small bowl, which I would compare to as a size small at a fast food joint. As for other dishes to get, the Fried Calamari($ 8) was stellar and worth every dollar. Deep-fried without any greasiness, crisp, and not too chewy inside. Every bite was delicious as the last. The Fried Clam Strips($ 8) were also very good but I definitely favored the Fried Calamari. My only gripe was that both portions were somewhat on the smaller side. My friend informed us that when they had opened about a year ago, the Lobster Claw Bloody Mary was included in the happy hour but not anymore. Luckily, one of my friends did order regardless so that we could try it out. For $ 9, it was a bit on the expensive side. The lobster claw was small and almost not even even noticeable. But the Bloody Mary was top-notch. It was well-balanced with saltiness, spiciness, and tartness. They should definitely get this back on the happy hour special, by excluding the lobster claw. Overall, my friends and I had a great time. $ 1 oysters that were perfectly shucked, fresh seafood, laid back environment without the big crowds, $ 4 pints of beer?!! It doesn’t get better than that. It is definitely on my list of places to revisit. Hope to see you there!

I came here twice actually, both times with different people. What I love most about this place is the happy hour menu which I brought my friends here for. We always get the sliders, the lobster slider, the fried oyster slider and the crab cake slider. They are each very tiny sliders but also every good and compliments the beer that I was drinking. The ambiance was nice, the crowd seemed like they were all here for the happy hour. I’ll be sure to come back soon to try their brunch specials.

I practically live at this joint. They have the hands down best Happy Hour Special 4pm-7pm in the LES. $ 1 oysters $ 4 yummy cocktails $ 4 sliders — Lobster, fried oyster, crabcake. Lobster sliders are sooo freaking good. It’s chunky lobster meat that doesn’t have to much mayonaise on it, on a fluffly potato bread bun. The second fave is the crabcake which is quite delectable as well. $ 4 sides — I love their mashed potatoes and I’m totally addicted to their fries. they have malt vinegar for them here, good job Lobster joint. You’ve got a patron fo-life.

Though I was sad to see the prior tenant(Lina Frey) not make it in this space, and a bit skeptical because I’ve never understood New Yorkers’ fascination with lobster rolls, Lobster Joint has proven to be a worthwhile successor. This is a casual, order-at-the-counter-and-eat-at-communal-tables space with a huge skylight overhead that bathes the blonde wood aesthetic with natural light. It feels very comfortable. The food is delicious, but may not be tied to market prices for lobster – especially given recent reports of a glut in the lobster market. Sandwiches are in the $ 14 to $ 19 range. Our group sampled the crab sandwich($ 16), the Connecticut(just lobster, no mayo, served with butter, $ 17) and the Lobster Club(tossed with herb mayo, celery, avocado, and a generous helping of several strips of bacon, $ 19). Sides come with the sandwiches and are either a salad, fries or homemade chips. I have had much better homemade chips. There is no break on drink prices either– $ 3 for an iced tea and $ 2.50 for a can of diet coke. We have also tried the fried oyster appetizer($ 9), which comes with a generous supply of an assortment of different sized oysters on coleslaw. They are pretty daggone good. The oyster sandwich($ 15), likewise comes with a heavy-handed portion of oysters and is quite tasty. The staff, though you interact with them only briefly because of the counter-service model, were pleasant and the cook obliged our request to substitute corn on the cob(which comes with two ears) for the customary sides. This is pricey for lunch(although the portions are so big you may not need dinner!), average for dinner, and festive in a low-key way. All in all, this is a great addition to the neighborhood.

I came during their Friday happy hour which I thought I would love. FInding seats in this place can be difficult sometimes, but the servers are willing to help you find a seat. You order your food, pay, and then grab the number they give you to a seat. Then they bring the food to you. After, they will be by to pick up your dishes and cups and remember to tip at the counter. Now onto the food, we had a draft beer($ 4), a vodka cran($ 4), three sliders($ 4 each): crab cake, lobster, and fried oyster, and 6 raw oysters($ 1 each). Drinks first. I’m not a beer person, but I liked it. The vodka cran, however, was so watered down I did not even finish half of it. I guess, there’s a reason why it is $ 4 huh? The food: oysters were good, and didn’t get anyone sick, but apparently they tasted very fresh. I had the three sliders. The best one was the lobster. The fried oyster was tasteless, and the crab cake tasted like the sea. If I could go back in time, I would’ve just gotten three of the lobster sliders. Next time, I’ll want to try one of their soups.
