I normally LOVE L’asso, but the past two times I’ve been here something has been«off» with the gluten free pizza crust. It used to be really good, but the last two times it was extremely dry and just… bleh. I don’t know if they’ve had a change of management or recipe, or something, but whatever it is please go back to the old way L’Asso! I beg you!

The place is really cute and the staff is really hospitable and friendly. Not sole Manhattan pretentious place. The manager suggested we try the blush pizza and it was amazing. The crust was thin but sturdy so you can pick it up, bite it, and not have oil all over your face. In fact it was not greasy or too salty at all.(Like some other places I’ve tried.) They said it’s because their cheeses are imported from Italy. We also had some bruschetta, goat cheese and arugula salad with walnuts and pears. I don’t like arugula or goat cheese but if I have to eat them — this is the place. The salad was fresh and the pears were tasty. I’m not much of a drinker but the apple sangria was interesting and quite suitable for the winter weather. Everything was perfect and I can’t wait to go back and try their desserts too. The only thing I hope they fix is their toilet.

This place is pretty cool, super nice staff and intimate atmosphere. I’ve eatin there a few times and became a huge fan of the pastas on the menu! Still a close 2nd to the amazing brick oven pizza though. Its to die for, my favorite is the thin crust with veggies on it. haven’t had a better pizza in NYC!

This place definitely dares to put a new outlook on pizza. However, I must say that this place is not for everybody. I had their pistachio pizza which was fantastic in my opinion. They give you a small pot of honey to pour over the the pizza definitely giving it an interesting feel for the taste. They also have a decent beer selection. I definitely would go back one more time to try their other pizzas, but if you just want a regular NYC style pizza, this is not the place to go.

The service at this place was the worst I have ever experienced! The place wasn’t THAT busy and 30 minutes after we got seated for a table of two, we still didn’t get helped to put our order in. 10 mins after we arrived a table of four got seated and they put their order in before ours. This was the first time I left a restaurant after I got seated. I was really looking forward to trying out the pizza but they lost our service.

Came here for bottomless brunch. Every employee was the nicest person ever and the food could have been mediocre… But it was AMAZING. the Bloody Mary ruled and the mimosas were perfect. Xoxoxoxo

I came here with a group of about 8 people. There weren’t many people there. We all went with the wine and 2 slices for $ 7, of course. The waitress was extremely and obviously overwhelmed that there were so many of us… even though our order was very simple. They only had a few pieces of truffle and margarita pizza. They ran out? But couldn’t make more? Or didn’t want to? I was confused. It was good, though. I’ll be back.

this has been my favorite pizza in nyc until recently. i recommended to everyone, ate with there with family & friends for over five years. insisted that our office order from lasso instead of lombardis. last two months is staff inattentive & rude, once to the point of being hostile. no greeting anymore & too busy talking & eating behind counter to bother with business. also about two weeks ago staff ignored me because she was having prolonged conversation with her friends to whom she doled out free pizza slices to go «you can take these, we’re closing soon». slices consistently served barely heated. no matter how good the pizza is nobody wants to be served luke cold slices.

Mixed review. *I* had a wonderful pizza, but my girlfriend and I turned up because the restaurant was promoted as gluten-free; my girlfriend is celiac and we came for gluten free. Unfortunately, the kitchen burnt the gluten-free pizza so much they didn’t even bring it out to us. So my pizza came out, which was incredibly tasty and they gave us free salad and wine to make up for my girlfriend’s missing pizza, which was very generous. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, we were both desperate for real food(not salad) and my gf didn’t want to drink. Her pizza eventually came out over twenty minutes later and was truly awful. Speaking as someone who has had truly good gluten free pizza before, it was really, really terrible. Tasted like a child had made a pizza from Play-doh. Vastly undercooked — which is bad when you think I only had a slice left of mine when it arrived. So undercooked that the mozzarella was still totally solid and the base was like wet newspaper and, most unforgivable, it was incredibly sparse in terms of toppings. Annoying when you think we paid another three bucks to choose the gluten free option; unforgivable when you think DOMINOES, of all places, can nail a gluten free pizza. If you’re gluten free, I’d suggest skipping altogether. To conclude: amazing staff, incredible regular pizza, but the worst gluten free pizza I’ve ever had. We left the entire gluten-free pizza.

This is NOT the place to go for gluten-free pizza. If that’s what you want, go to Risotteria in the West Village or Pappardella on the Upper West Side. The crust was AWFUL. I have had A LOT of gluten-free pizza and this was by FAR the worst. I can’t give less stars though because the toppings(brussel sprouts, bacon and mozzarella) were delicious and the service was on point. It’s a cute little place and my friend seemed very happy with his normal glutenFUL pizza. I might be back to try the Arugula salad because it sounded freaking amazing.

Spectacular pizza but terrible service. Don’t be mistaken, the staff was nice but they weren’t exactly attentive. My table ordered two large pizzas and one of the orders never arrived and we were billed for it. We spoke to the server, who wasn’t even aware that the pizza never came out, and she was nice about taking it off the bill after checking in with the pizza makers and confirming it never came out. The lack of attention throughout the meal made a simple pizza dinner into a 3 hour evening, with lots of time in between when there was no food on the table. They did apologize and gave a free soda to make amends for the delay. Eventually we decided to leave and end the night after eating only half of what was ordered. Good pizza, but I don’t think I can sit around for this long and only eat half of what I ordered. Maybe takeout is a better option as those orders kept going in and out of their kitchen.

Great pizza and even better customer service. Came here for lunch. There’s a $ 7 happy hour special which is 2 margharita slices and a drink(alcoholic). You can’t see the pizza options from the sitting area because it’s tucked behind the bar. the server will tell you what’s available. I opted out of the drink so my bill was $ 5 for the 2 slices. I asked for a side of sauce and since it took a while, the server gave me an extra slice on the house. So I really paid $ 5 for 3 slices in Nolita — talk about a deal! The pizza has a very thin crust with light sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil. However don’t be fooled by its thinness because you taste every ingredient. The inside is very simple with a good amount of seating for a large party and a bar you can sit at. Overall, like I said earlier, great pizza with great customer service. Happy dining!

I’ve loved and visited L’asso multiple times in the past two years but that time may be drawing to a close. Saturday night, I grabbed dinner with a co-worker and my boyfriend around 8pm. Upon entering, there was absolutely no acknowledgement at the door. There was about a 20-minute gap between getting our menus and placing our drink order. Another 15 – 20 to receive our drinks and another 15 to get the waiter to come BACK to our table to get our food order. You get the drill. While waiting for our food, I noticed that none of the original staff that I’ve seen every time I’ve come to the restaurant was working. I also noticed that a couple was waiting for the rest of their food and didn’t even have plates to eat whatever they did have in the meantime. The staff seemed unapologetic and unhappy to be there. They seemed short-staffed, but a smile isn’t strenuous. The pizza was good not great. I’m convinced it was because of my mood. Our waiter didn’t even ask how things were going until AFTER we’d paid. To top things off, the staff seemed like they were trying to rush us out the door. I’m really not sure what to think of this experience. That hour and a half of my life could’ve been better spent elsewhere.

Came here with two friends tonight. When we walked in the door, no acknowledgement. After some time, we got mild acknowledgement and to just take the available booth. After some time, we were finally able to order our food. We each ordered pasta and the pizza special in a medium to share since we were told we can choose the size. Two pastas come out great, one of them was the wrong order. After we ate, my friend’s finally came. Still no pizza. 15mins later, pizza comes. It’s a small pizza. When we asked about it, the waiter told us it was gluten-free and it only comes in one size. Uhm, no. The pizza did not state it was gluten-free and he told us himself we can choose the size. He goes back to double-check as we see the same pizza we ordered being delivered to the table that sat down half an hour after we did. At this point we were fed up; we got the bill and left. Never coming here again.

I ordered the gluten free pizza Tartufo(Affumicato) without cheese: portobello pesto, mushrooms, rosemary & truffle oil. I didn’t really tasted the truffle oil. The gluten free crust seems to be made with corn flour and it’s crispy thin. Which I prefer because at some point of eating an entire pizza, it’s too much dough, unless the toppings are really tasty. But without the cheese, it doesn’t have the greasy deliciousness. They also have a menu of the day.

Incredibly slow service waited practically an hour for spaghetti, all they gave us was water. The waiter continuously ignores us while they serve people that arrived AFTER us. So painful, other waitresses saw that we were trying to grab the attention of our waiter(or busboy?) and they completely ignored us. Not coming back. So so food bad service.

Awful! Never in my life have I experienced such rude and outright insulting behavior by waiters at a restaurant! I rarely have negative experiences at restaurants and rarely feel the need to write a scathing review for a business, but this was just appalling! I came here with a group of friends on Sunday for brunch and stood there waiting for a host or someone to seat me but was ignored for a very long time before I got the attention of a waiter and asked if they had space for our group. He very curtly told me that there was no space. I told them that I was more than happy to wait a little for a table to free up and he tossed me a sheet of paper to write my name and phone number down. My friends and I then proceeded to wait almost 45 minutes outside. When we came back in, we saw that a table had freed up but no one bothered to come get us and inform us that it was available. When I then asked if we could be seated, we were told that brunch was going to end in 20 minutes. A little peeved, I asked why he didn’t tell us that before we waited 45 minutes for a table and his response was«you didn’t ask» followed by a very rude smirk. Needless to say, I will never be coming here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

Came for early dinner today and was a little disappointed because the 2/$ 7 deal(2 slices and a beer) only applied to their margherita(sp?) slices and their slice of the day, which was the tartufo. They did not mention this on the sign in the front of the restaurant and the waitress did not mention this to me when I ordered my beer, which I only ordered because of the deal. She also said that I could have asked before hand, which I could have done, but I don’t think she had to be argumentative with me. I must admit, I was very ticked off and was a little snappy back, so I am definitely no angel, but when you’re running a business, you should just listen and apologize for the confusion. It was a little nerve-wrecking, but I was still able to enjoy the pancetta pizza. Just please put that disclaimer on there stating that there are exclusions to the happy hour deal. You don’t want any other ticked off customers.

I came here for their boozy brunch deal twice. For $ 20, you get a brunch item and bottomless mimosas and bloody marys for a hour. Man do they have good pizza! I made the mistake of not getting their breakfast pizza during my first visit. The breakfast pizza has bacon, scallions, and eggs cooked perfectly with a crunchy crust, enough even for someone with a big appetite :) The bottomless mimosas are such a good deal! They promptly refill your glass and you can probably get 8 – 10 refills if you drink fast. But beware, mimosas are stronger than one might think, I went a bit overboard 2nd time I came here and got really drunk after 7 mimosas and spent the rest of the day recovering. Where else are you going to get amazing pizza and get drunk for $ 20!

Came here with my husband after a half day of work Christmas Eve. We were so happy it was open and had an amazing late lunch. It’s a relatively small restaurant, I’m sure it fills up on normal days, but it was relatively empty since it was Christmas Eve. They have house wine and beer at a very reasonable price before 7pm! Not sure if they call it happy hour, but I think it was $ 4 or $ 5 for drinks. They also do a special if you sit at the bar — 2 slices of pizza and 1 beer for $ 6 or $ 7 — you seriously cannot beat this! The prices here are fabulous! I like their choice of wines and beer and the food is AMAZING!!! The Food We got a large pizza(which had 16 square slices, definitely would have been enough to feed 4). We had left overs. Sometimes re-toasted pizza gets dry and loses its integrity when you take it togo, however, L’asso’s reheated pizza really held up! It was only a tiny bit better fresh which my husband and I were both pretty amazed about. They let you do half one flavor and half a different flavor, so we did the Tartufo and Supreme — both were amazing! It’s cooked in a brick oven and is just delicious! They also offer pizza by the slice, but we didn’t do this option so I can’t speak to it. For fun we got a side of sauce for $ 3, which was actually very delicious if you like your pizza more saucy. The pizza’s here are thin crust and lighter, so we both enjoyed the extra sauce to dip our crusts in. Pizza is still delicious without the extra sauce, but I like that you have the option. The Service It’s hard to judge since they weren’t crowded, but the two servers that were working were very very nice, and very helpful. Great at explaining the menu and what options we had since we had never been before. We were in no rush, so we sat for about an extra hour and had a few drinks(since they were so cheap!) after we finished our meal and they were incredibly nice about just letting us hang out and checking in every once in a while. Would definitely recommend to others and will be coming back here again soon!
