I came here to buy a gift for my colleagues. This place is a French sweets store located inside Le District at Brookfield place. They have sweet biscuits with filling(apple and cinnamon, apricot, caramel, chocolate, figs, lemon, raspberry, strawberry). I bought a tin box of apricot filled biscuits, and I tried some biscuits(navettes, sweet biscuits) to make sure that they would make a good gift. I tried the navettes: the almond, then the orange blossom. I didn’t taste the orange flavor in it. These are super hard cookies! Beware for your teeth. Maybe they’re meant to be dipped in a hot drink? Still, I wouldn’t recommend them. The butter cookies are crumbly shortbread. They have plain or chocolate. As for the filled biscuits, the chocolate, the caramel were ordinary. The apricot filled were my favorite. I think that the fruit filled ones are more interesting than the chocolate or caramel because these can feel dry.

Mmmm cookie! I seriously puffy heart anything baked and sweet and I have a notorious sweet tooth. So imagine my surprise when I’m doing my daily lunchtime walk and I pass a window at Brookfield Place where cookie tins are prominently displayed! Hold up work, I’m gonna need a few minutes. So I walk in and well nothing really caught my eye at first, I just see tins and tins of things… a little display of chocolate and caramels, when a worker bee asks me if I want to sample some lemon filled cookies. Um, yeah! And so tasty they were… I see where they sell the loose cookies, grabbed me a plastic glove(which I need to steal a few for my home hair dyeing days…) and went to town. Fig, chocolate, lemon, apricot, apple cinnamon, strawberry, raspberry and some others I can’t remember. Skip my way to the cashier where she rings me up… and offers me more samples… WIN! Okay so they’re not cheap and I was hoping that they would be worth it. I had the apple cinnamon first, then the fig. Bottom line is that they are tasty, though a tad on the dry side… more like a biscuit consistency. Did I enjoy them all? You bet. Would I go back for more? Mmmm, maybe not. The tins are really cute though and may get one for an out of town friend.

This place is gorgeous and I really have to stop myself from buying the whole store. The cakes and caramels are delicious, but have a processed(read: not fresh) taste to them. It’s also pretty expensive, like $ 5 for 3 cubes of caramel expensive. The tins are free, I think, if you buy a specific amount of cookies, cakes, or candy. Look, it’s Battery Park City so I don’t expect it to be a bargain, but can’t they just throw in better customer service for all the money people spend here? The girl who rang me up at the register did so without once looking at me or speaking to me. What’s up with that?

Love this place. I had their chocolate olives in Paris years ago, and since they don’t ship to the U.S., I was thrilled to find they had opened a store in the U.S. Chocolate olives are as wonderful as I remember, they look exactly like olives with an almond«pit.» I thought the staff was delightful and very helpful. Wonder why others had such a bad experience? Heard they may soon open stores at Grand Central Terminal and Columbus Circle — even more convenient.

i really enjoy the fruit-filled cookies here. the apple cinnamon and apricot are my favorite. can’t really speak about the customer service here, except that you can request a free sample of the smaller-sized ones.

Dreadful place. I bought five cookies and realized when I got home that I had been overcharged. The bill was $ 12.88 for five, small cookies. I went back to La Cure Gourmande with my receipt, but the manager refused to refund my money. Stay away unless you’re willing to be ripped off.

Everything in this area looked completely messed up. Cashing system was down when I tried to buy goods so had to pay by cash. Cashier and other staff there were so incompetent that they had no idea to recover the problem. But the Tin I’ve got there was very nice gift.

The cookies look gorgeous and and are displayed quite nicely. They all taste the same and that taste is saw dust. Over $ 10 a pound too. Novel, yes. Fun, yes. Taste: non non.

The customer service is horrendous. We were screamed at by a very emotionally unstable volitile worker there. Not good business.
