Wasted potential. This place is set up like a cave, the design and décor here is pretty awesome at least to me the main positive. I imagine if you were in an altered state of mind the place would be pretty awesome… but the night I came here I was in a NY state of mind and wanted to party :) some of my homies were visiting from out of town and of course we just wanted to go out and have a good time, all you need a good scene a lol bit of good music… But man this place probably plays the most disgusting music I have ever heard in my life. I mean it was so bad lol. They were playing popular songs, off lyrics with altered beats with vocals of people who can not sing. I felt like I was in some sad world with no joy? –Maybe that was just me lol cause of how bad the music was. It was so bad when we were talking I just wanted to say to the DJ «Can you turn it off» I looked around and everyone was wearing weird things. There is a word to describe the vibe in this place but I don’t wanna offend those who go here and are not living that lifestyle. I guess I should be positive here… you can wear whatever you want, leave the blazer at home, and ladies you can probably come here in sweats an a hoody :). Oh and there is no cover. I do not understand why anyone would be in this place longer than 20 minutes, then again it takes about twenty minutes to get a drink here. I rather wait an hour in line anywhere else then come back here. Only way I’d come back is if I knew Blade(Wesley snipes Vampire Hunter) was coming here, cause that is the only way this could have been entertaining to me!

Came here Saturday night after a brunch and bar hopping. I loved this place. The Chicken Fettucini Alfredo my friend ordered was amazing. I had a couple bites. The hookah lasted for almost two hours without getting harsh and there were about 5 people smoking it. We had beers and they were very cheap in comparison to any other place in NY. Only reason for 4 stars is because they did not have too many flavors of shisha to choose from. Also small TV’s. chouldnt catch the football game from where we were seated. I will absolutely be coming back given the unique ambiance and friendly waitress. She was smiling the whole night and was happy to suggest a surprise birthday triamisu cake for my friends birthday. We finished the cake within 2 minutes leaving only one bite for the birthday girl lol.

La Caverna is really cute! I love the cave-like environment. Music can be hit or miss. In one night, they played top 40s, 90s r&b, salsa, and some other weird songs I couldn’t identify. Plenty of seating and not too packed. All in all, had a great time and would definitely come back!

I was here on NYE2015 when this place turns into a bar/club. The inside was pretty cool, with the dim lights and cave setting. I really did feel like I was in a cave. Keep in mind my state of mind during NYE… I was a bit buzzed, kept drinking, danced like a crazy woman, and focused on chit chat with strangers and my group of friends. I didn’t scrutinize the details I usually give for a Unilocal review. I was under-dressed for the new year’s crowd since I didn’t expect to come here and was dressed to be outside for several hours in the Time Square area. No one seemed to care, or I didn’t notice that anyone cared. Could go either way. I had a good time.

Forever one of my go-to bars in the LES. And not just because there’s no cover and I think it’s hella cool that La Caverna is, in fact, a cave that is underground the streets of Manhattan. Add on the trippy lights, the dancing, the top 40s b2b old-school hip hop jams and the hookah and you’ve pretty much guaranteed yourself a great night. Minus this one rude woman bartending who refused to take my order and instead took the order of everyone around me, I’ve never had a bad time at La Caverna. It’s definitely not your typical bar and that’s why I almost always take people visiting me out-of-town here. Always a blast.

Okay this place is pretty darn cool! The interior is very cave like, makes me feel as if I am a character from Ice Age. Great place to stop by. Cosmo drinks were $ 5 till 10pm(!!) on a weekday. Bartender wasn’t that friendly but he did make a good Cosmo!

Been here twice, both times for birthday parties. Music is VERY basic and was 99% the same as it was the first time I came about 6 months ago. There is a distinct point in the night(around midnight) where the DJ switches from exclusively mainstream hip hop/rap to mainstream EDM with the occasional hip hop/r&b/pop song thrown in. We got table service both times(I think table service is a joke and a huge waste of money… but I wasn’t paying for it), people tell me this place is «decently priced», with $ 200 bottles of vodka/rum and $ 120 Moet. Kind of hard to track down workers later in the night when it gets crowded to order more though. We also had our first hookah comped, which was nice. Also theres only like two stalls in the bathroom and girls take forever to pee so, that was annoying.

Just b/c this place is shaped like a cave does not mean you should be acting like cavemen OK? This is a very popular and rowdy place on a weekend night and for very good reason. Not only can you show up casual, it’s got a great variety of alcohol and music to turn up to. But that aside, this place is only good for a short while. People go crazy, glasses are constantly breaking on the floors, and things get pretty ratchet. It must be amazing if you’re drunk enough. So I guess there’s that. Come wasted.

In the middle of the night the DJ put boring EDM music, but before that and after that the music was AMAZING. My friends and I couldn’t stop dancing! Only other negative is that the place gets crowded and everyone starts sweating like crazy. But it’s so much fun that it doesn’t really matter!

I’m reviewing a Saturday night clubbing experience. The gimmick here is that you’re partying in a cave. I’ll give them that, it really does look like you’re in a underground cave. But. it’s a humid, hot, extremely crowded cave. They could’ve turned up the AC. The music was alright. The crowd was pushy. Maybe worth visiting when it’s less crowded and hot.

Great place. Lots of fun, deceptively big, fast turnaround for bathroom lines, great music, awesome vibes. I’ve had many great nights here. The DJs are always on point, be ready to dance! Crowd is a little older but it’s better that way.

Been here a few times already. Recently planned a birthday here too. I’ve only seen this place on Saturday nights and it gets packed. If you don’t like crowds & want peace of mind or room to breathe a little. Get bottle service + the service is great by the attendants. Great place nonetheless, wouldn’t recommend it as pregame spot as the drinks are avg city prices, and the music is mostly top 40/Pop all night.

Everything about the place is amazing!!! Both doormen are very nice. They will even recommend on places to eat!!! And you should listen! The bartenders are great! No attitude, no ego! Drinks are priced very fairly! Manager is an amazing guy that doesn’t cut corners! I even had good experience with bar-backs! The DJ cannot put a bad song to save his life! I never stop dancing there!!! My roommate found the place for a birthday party of her girlfriend, and since than, it’s my Saturday night home! Along with the best falafel right across the road, this is the perfect combination! Another important note: I see many of the same guys! They actually come to dance and very respectful towards women! Not aggressive at all! I thought this worth saying! Support the place! They deserve that!

Came here for a night out with some friends; we came upon this spot, which is one of a kind! The caverna is an underground cavern with cave paintings on the wall, stalactites, and pools of dripping water. The bar is in the center, carved into the stone it seems. I have never seen anything like it, and just being there is an adventure! Everything is lit by lanterns, and the lights are placed strategically in little nooks above the bar, or in dimly lit alcoves where the seats are. It’s not dim, but filled with ambiance. The music was alright, but it was fun to vibe to. You feel as if you are a cave explorer, venturing into the unknown. Might come again if in the area, to show some friends a good time.

3.5 stars. Came here late on a Friday night to drink/dance. As others have already stated, the design was really cool. Didn’t expect to be partying in a colorful cave-that’s for sure. Beyond the uniqueness of the ambiance, I didn’t really find this place too memorable. I had a few drinks and they were nothing out of the ordinary. The music was very loud and good for turning up. Age demographic tends to be on the younger side if you’re there late at night. I would come back and give it another go if I’m in the area but wouldn’t really seek it out especially.

This place is pretty incredible, I must say. The décor reminds me of the glorious semester I spend in Granada, where they have a club that’s in a cave, overlooking the Alhambra. But sadly this isn’t Spain, it is simply a cool NYC bar. Worth visiting on an off-night, if you ask me. The music is also pretty decent: top 40 mixed with some older hits and a touch of hip-hop. Why lack of two stars? The people working here, mainly. The bouncer completely preoccupied with some random chicks who were bitching at him for some odd reason, and wasn’t letting anyone in for some time. Finally someone else came to assist with checking IDs. Upon entering, though, I was greeted by some bartender who thought she ruled the WORLD. She honestly looked like she was 15 and wouldn’t take my card because they have a $ 30 limit on cards(which is MESSEDUP), but I wanted to leave my tab open!!! F*&k you if you don’t want me to order more drinks later, I can’t drink $ 30 worth of alcohol immediately. Also this place needs some SERIOUS ventilation. It’s basically underground in order to mimic the cave-like feeling, but come ON, if you’re going to be a club AND below surface level… get some fans in here. Or 20 fans. Or put the AC on!

$ 4 well drink cocktail happy hour specials. A fun, cool bar with friendly, attentative staff. The underground cavern/cave look is great and the music is fun and at an appropriate level. Be forewarned the place turns into more of a lounge at 11pm. A nice bar to start or end your night depending on what kind of night you want.

This place is COOL. The ambiance is very interesting and sets it apart from other bars/restaurant in the area. The name«La Caverna» suits them well — looks like you’re in a cave AND it’s underground. Now upon walking in, you turn a tight corner and immediately go down the stairs. Kind of weird at first but when I actually got down to the bar I thought«oh that was cool. I think.» No handrails going down the stairs, but handrails going up. Why is that? Hazardous in my book. I was nervous walking down there. Friday night — the place was packed and the crowd seemed okay, but we didn’t stay passed one round of drinks. Bartenders seemed as they should. Drink prices are a little cheaper than surrounding bars. They also had small hookahs around, which people were making use of. There’s also a bouncer to organize the bathroom line, which is a plus. Although I noticed him getting a bit abrasive… Maybe I’ll be back? I don’t know. No one had cell phone service down there…

The theme is… Interesting. I guess they get some points for being a bit different. But I have a fairly limited tolerance for crowded bars playing a lot of top 40 music. Also, it was pretty difficult to actually get served at the bar. It definitely got better once the crowd thinned out a bit and we were able to get drinks. I’m not sure if I’d recommend this place, though, especially because they made me take my hat off(it’s really annoying to go to a bar and then have to hold your hat for an hour and a half).

Fun enough LES bar. Super cool interior, obviously cave-like. Fun spot to dance. However, the service at the bar was pretty crappy and they have a $ 30MINIMUM, which is absolutely ridiculous. I think $ 20 is bad enough, but $ 30? Give me a damn break. No way.
