The pastrami on rye is descent. It is cooked fresh. It is not deli meat.

Sandwiches are good here but nothing I would go out of my way to come back for. It’s by our office so I’d go back again but it’s not that different from many of the other bodegas you’ll find in Chelsea. Prices seemed a bit high.

My first NY deli experience? 1. The L&M: corned beef, pastrami, Cole slaw, mustard. It was good, but I preferred the Reuben 2. Pastrami Reuben: their pastrami is well seasoned, sliced thinly, not overly salty. It was pretty amazing with their sauerkraut and Swiss. Served warm, this totally hit the spot Their pickles were also really good, and the guy at the counter was super nice.

L&M is the best! Larry and his gang continue to provide friendly service and excellent sandwiches. Breakfast is especially tasty. And service is quick and reliable. It’s more than a local deli. It’s a neighborhood institution.

This place is more useful as a convenience store than a deli. The staff are professional but not particularly friendly, the selection is adequate given the size but nothing special, and the service/speed is fine. The location is also great. It’s better than the average tiny kiosk and does the job but not much more than that.

Pretty solid deli. Had a great variety of cold sandwiches and salads. Pretty standard fare with good sandwich suggestions. Got an ok tuna sandwich. Tuna salad with lettuce on a kaiser roll. Tuna was a little lacking in flavor but it was a decent sized sandwich and came with a pickle! Friendly staff with decent prices. All in all a good spot if you’re looking for a quick inexpensive lunch.

Sandwiches here are pretty quality, especially for a random bodega on 7th Ave. The prices aren’t amazing, but you’ll get good ingredients and you will be satisfied. I’ve gotten the L&M special, which is corned beef, pastrami, slaw, and dressing on on two thick slices of rye, which were toasted, and the entire sandwich was delicious. At around $ 9, it’s not a terrible deal since you get a good portion of pastrami and corned beef. Another $ 9 sandwich is the Italian hero, which is huge, and with a very generous portion of Italian meats and cheeses. The oil and vinegar ratios are perfect, and you get just enough acidity to cut through the richness of the prosciutto, salami, and cheeses. In all, however, I think what really sets this place apart from the rest is the friendliness of service. I’ve always had a good conversation with the owner/cashiers, and everyone who works at this deli seems to really enjoy it. Coming here, you feel good about supporting a local business, even if they do tend to charge more than your normal big businesses. This isn’t to say I would do my grocery shopping here, but for a good sandwich, you really can’t go wrong with L&M.

Really big selection of sandwiches. i had a chicken cutlet and it was pretty good. It lacked a little in seasonings. but its a $ 6.50 sandwich. so cant ask for too much. The lettuce and tomato were pretty fresh and the rye was typical. but the crust was a little on the dry side. Ill come back to try another sandwich.

Best delivery and breakfast in the area. Especially when some of the competitors get too lazy to pick up the phone for orders(Shame on you my Chelsea Bagel!!). My go-to spot for chicken soup on those sick days where you still have to function and their salads are always fresh. I dont have anything unfavorable to say aside from the fact that if you order with a credit/debit card you can’t add the tip to the total(so make sure you have cash on hand) AND sometimes the way they package their fresh squeezed juice/iced coffee/tea leaves some spillage. Otherwise, I’ll continue to be a long time customer!

Wow … if it was not for the good Unilocal reviews, I would never have entered this shop, and it would have been a shame. We were visiting NYC, and wanted to taste good pastrami sandwiches on the go … from the outside, the store looks just like any local grocery/deli … not very attractive. Once we got inside, we were a bit overwhelmed by the choice of breads, meats … displayed above the counter. The man behind the counter was very very nice ! Really ! he did not rush us, gave us a paper menu, explained all our options and told us to take all the time we needed. In the end, we got a beef gyro combo(sandwich + fries + salad) … which was rather good, and a hot pastrami sandwich, which was truly EXCELLENT !! The sandwich was bursting with meat, and the meat was so tasteful … such a treat !! This shop is eally a hidden gem.

I had a great salad at the deli’s new salad bar a few weeks ago, and went back for another. I realized that they have all the ingredients I love in a burrito, and asked if they could make one for me, even though it’s not a regular menu item. One of the guys who works there is from Mexico, and suggested that they slice up a fresh avocado for me on the spot. The other gent from Ecuador suggested a touch of ranch dressing and olive oil to bring the flavors together. He mixed everything up on the spot, melted a little cheddar on a wrap under the grill in seconds flat. Gotta say that the burrito was amazing, and at a great price for the area. This is now my unofficially amazing burrito place. I just need to make sure that I ask for a fork to handle the overstuffed deliciousness! Thanks again, gents!

One of the most well made, delicious, mouth watering NYC sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. L&M Delicatessen is exactly the type of place you need to know about. It’s located in an easy to find location on 7th Ave in Chelsea nearing the West Village. The Deli has several well priced(under $ 10) creations that will make anybody come begging for more. Whats even better? They have a great selection of beer, some already refrigerated, anywhere from 21st Amendment(San Francisco, CA) to Fuller’s London Pride(UK). When I went there this past Saturday, the owner even gave me two cups two split my water with my drink, napkins, and did all this with a smile. He was the type of person that would know your first name if you came in several times. But more importantly, the sandwiches! They came out hot, crunchy, cheesy and dripped with just the right amount of texture and juices from the slaw, corned beef, pastrami, and melted cheese… it was slap yo momma good! Apparently they deliver, which is awesome, but now I’m bittersweet about not living in Chelsea, i’d probably die young from a heart attack. They also have bodega items in their store ranging from Quest protein bars to cleaning products to combination locks to condoms, literally everything :) All in all, i’d recommend this place, i’d return to this place, and I would order the same sandwich time and time again(or any other sandwich). The Special is really special!

I used to love this place after years as a loyal customer. Last few times I stopped by store — I realized that it was just dirty, mice droppings in the back by the soda and beer fridge. The deli display and fridge was so dingy and gross. Most old school delis in NYC have been updated even in brooklyn bushwick. Etc. their prices are high, service not great anymore and food not fresh. Apart from this– my last delivery order was wrong and overpriced. When I called back to complain the guy got into a he said I said debate on what I ordered. I was so upset after an hour of wait time. Basically he told me to go ###^ myself. When I told him I have been a loyal customer over the years — he said and I quote«so»… Anyway STAYAWAY!

The epitome of a great little local deli that has everything you need, fresh food, juice, variety of beers and snacks, most importantly with friendly faces that remember you and welcome you personally. Hard working, honest guys that can lend a hand if needed. Fast delivery, fast food order. Cheap prices. Going strong since around 1977… Perfect and always open– aside from the half day they take off for one or two holidays, which they deserve off! They’re the best! This is the deli to compare most others with.

When I lived in Chelsea and needed a breakfast sandwich and/or bagel in the morning, my one stop shop was at the L & M Deli. Having moved away from NY, the smell and taste of a properly made fresh bagel was something I definitely missed. So when the GF and I spent the weekend with a friend in NY, I knew I had to pick up breakfast at L & M, especially after a night that ended around 4AM. L & M Deli is a typical ‘bodega’ style outpost, but with great breakfast food hidden within. Don’t expect elegant here, but comfort. And while there were no home fries available on a recent Saturday at 12:45PM, what I was looking for was a good NYC bagel. You’ll find most varieties here, including poppy, garlic, everything, and sesame. Toasted Sesame Bagel [$ 2.20] Cream cheese My standard order is usually a toasted with cream cheese, sometimes with jelly(don’t knock it till you’ve tried it). It may not look any different than any other bagel, but the taste tells a different story. The dough is not tough, but moist, with the toasting provided a textural contrast that hits the spot. What accounts for this difference? There are some theories out there that claim it has something to do with NYC’s soft water. Sausage, Egg, Cheese on a Roll [$ 3.90] In addition to a toasted cream cheese bagel, I had to get a standard sausage, egg, cheese. To be real, there’s nothing especially special about this — but something about the pillowy poppy seeded roll, the gooey cheese, the light egg, and salty sausage just makes for a great bite. Then again, perhaps it’s the nostalgia. Corned Beef Hash [$ 3.65] Because L&M was out of home fries, I knew I needed something else to sop up all the fun from the previous night. So I went with the corned beef hash. It may not look appetizing and frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if it came from a can. But something about the salty mystery meat and the diced potatoes hits the spot. L&M was able to provide that fueling push for another long day in the city and then some. Certainly, it was a sad day when I heard H&H shuttered their doors, but it’s good to know that NYC can churn out a great bagel at more than one location.

Sunday was a beautiful day so I stopped by here to pick up a sandwich on my way to the highline with friends. I got the«Highline Special» since it seemed appropro — buffalo chicken. They were very generous with the meat, but I was still a bit miffed at the $ 9.50 price tag(with tax). Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? Not sure why everyone has such rave reviews. . I’ll have to give this place at least one more shot. Small deli with no place to sit down. Pick up and go!

My wife was shopping a block away at Loehmann’s. They were having a sale so I knew it might be a while. I needed to get away and do something more worthy of being a man. However I had a hunch that due to the nature of my wife’s activity, I needed to keep it cheap. A quick search of «cheap eats» on the Unilocal app led me straight here. This little deli is deceiving. You would never guess the amount of choices for sandwiches and wraps that are in the offering here. They also have a hot bar but my guess is it’s better to stick to the sandwiches and wraps. I got the L&M Special. It’s a good sized sandwich made with pastrami, corned beef, melted swiss, coleslaw and mustard on rye. It was $ 8 — which I would say is cheap given the neighborhood. I ate my sandwich on the steps of some building across the street. It was excellent and I got plenty of envious looks from people passing by. Or maybe they were disgusted by the way I was devouring it, but I like to think it’s the former. This was a cheap, good way for a quick meal. And the added bonus? My wife came out of Loehmann’s empty handed.

I don’t get over to Chelsea a lot, but my dentist is in the area and nothing makes me hungrier than another man scraping around my gums for an hour(that’s not weird, right?). So I stopped by L&M for a sandwich. It’s definitely a neighborhood joint, as nearly every other customer seems to know the staff by name. Ever indecisive, I asked one of the guys behind the counter which of the specialty sandwiches I should go for. He recommended the New School Turkey Reuben. He must know I’m trying to cut down on the red meat; I appreciate the concern for my health, guy. I also appreciate that the reuben was well-constructed, hot and tasty. Turkey is never going to be as flavorful as corned beef, but the sandwich certainly hit the spot for lunch and was probably a good deal healthier than your average reuben. At $ 8, it isn’t the best price for a deli sandwich I’ve ever heard of, but it is Chelsea. Also, it comes with a pretty tasty pickle. And there’s a Lucky Wang next door. So there’s that.
