One phrase describes this place — BESTHAPPYHOURINTRIBECA! As I read some of these other not so stellar reviews for their brunch & dinner, I realize that that phrase is more relevant than I ever thought. I’ve ordered their sandwiches for lunch and never been disappointed(although they are slightly expensive for a sandwich) however it wasn’t until I visited for Happy Hour that I was really impressed with this place. In Tribeca it’s slightly difficult to find a bar that has great drink specials AND food specials for happy hour. Kutscher’s does 4 – 6 $ beers, wines, and a selection of 2 cocktails(cucumber margarita and bug juice) but what really made them special was their happy hour food specials. Ruben and corned beef sliders for 3 $ each. Potato latkas, knishes, chicken fingers and ruben spring rolls for 2 $ each and everything is freakin’ delicious! I’ve sampled everything and loved it all. So — if you’re ever in tribeca, hungry and looking for some drinks that won’t break the bank — definitely check Kutscher’s out! Happy Hour is Tues — Fri 4:30 — 7:30!

The prices here are outrageous. I get that it’s Tribeca and you gotta make that rent somehow, but then the foods got to be out of this world and it’s just not. I wasn’t feeling well and wanted a really fantastic soup. Since I had a coupon code from Seamless I decided to splurge and get The Whole Megillah– a $ 21 soup. Seriously. Now the soup was good, but it wasn’t DAMN good. The chicken was nice and tender, the kreplach was good– but the matzoh balls were my last favorite part. I actually didn’t finish the ball, but did finish everything else. They also didn’t season the soup at all. it takes two seconds for me to add salt and pepper, but for $ 21 that’s really something they should be doing themselves. Besides the kreplach and the matzoh ball there is nothing in here that isn’t also in chicken soup, and I have a hard time imagining how they get to that $ 21 figure adding in just those two things.

Went to dinner on July 3rd. The place was fairly empty and we went early so we had our choice of seats. I am not a fan of rooms that have a lot of hard services because of the noise factor but since there were only about 6 tables taken, it was not unpleasant. We had been wanting to try the restaurant for sometime but didn’t want to travel from the upper east side to Tribeca. A special dinner purchased from made it worth our while. We were promptly greeted and seated. Our waiter, Papa, gave us the special menu and took our drink orders. Martini was perfect; served with four green olives stretched across the top of the glass and poured from a shaker. My partner ordered what would be described as a bloody mary but made with gazpacho. If you like a spicy drink, you will love this one. We received a small order of potato latkes with duck and pastrami reuben spring rolls. The potato used for the latkes was way over salted but the springs rolls were terrific. Next we the soup they call the whole whole megillah(chicken, matzo balls, kreplach, egg noodles carrots, celery, chives, dill). It was delicious. Under normal circumstances I would not pay $ 21 for it but with a discount deal, it was reasonably priced and perfect. Next up was the roast chicken pletzel and mushroom stuffing for two. Perfectly cooked and delicious. We ended up taking half of it home. For desert they served Cheesecake and 7-layer chocolate cake. We also were given a decent bottle of wine as part of the package. The service was terrific and all of the staff attentive. An auto gratuity was added onto the bill based on the retail value of the food, which we were happy to pay. All in all a good experience. Restaurant week is coming up in July so check out their prefix menus posted on their website. They often have deals on Groupon as well. Also, if you like watches, check out the Shinola store right across the street. Shinola makes and assembles high quality watches, bicycles and leather good in Detroit. This is one of the few stores they have right now.

Lovely décor and excellent food. Prices are normal for the area. Service was TERRIBLE. Brunch: 1. Bartender was asleep. 2. Coffee served was totally cold and filled with grinds. 3. Bloody Maries were watery(probably sitting forever before they were brought to the table). 4. One entrée missing; the food runner noticed but didn’t say anything to anyone. 5. We waited to eat assuming the entrée was coming but it never did. 6. By the time someone checked on us, we’d been waiting a while. We asked for the entrée and the girl explained she thought the person who ordered was sharing something else(basically blaming the patron instead of just getting the entrée out asap). 7. The member of our group politely decided she no longer needed the entrée at that point, as there was enough food on the table. 8. They brought the dish out anyway, after we were all done eating AND put it on the bill, saying that it would be good tomorrow after reheating it. Lame behavior.

Didn’t experience any of this bad service everyone seems to have described. Service was friendly and fine for a fancy deli. The prices are pretty high, which is something you get used to living in the area. But the problem isn’t so much how expensive, but what you’re actually getting. I can’t for the life of me figure out why you wouldn’t just go to Wich’Craft for a better sandwich at more than half the cost. The environment isn’t THAT different either. KT is a little fancier, they have booze and a bar, and a wider menu. The french fries are good, duck fat fries. Neither the corned beef or the VLT(Veal Bacon Lettuce and Tomato) were good at all. Dry, boring. Bread that was meh. Cole Slaw and Pickle that are both eh. It’s a shame, because if it were good it would be a great thing to have in the hood. I think it can be good. Just send some people over to Mile End, and studiously copy what they are doing over there.

Kutsher’s Tribeca occupies a pretty good space that is quite expansive by Manhattan standards with tables adequately spaced rather than trying to cram as many tables as humanely possible without violating fire codes. Up front you have a decently sized bar area with a few tables and further back is their main dining area. I got to this place a little earlier and was able to sit down and have a few drinks before dinner with a decent happy hour special for $ 5.00 for all bottled beers. They unfortunately only have two beers on tap. To start off our dinner we had ordered the latkes with apples and my main course was the delicatessen. To start off, they brought out bread for our table and I’m not sure what the heck it was but I think it was worse than wonderbread. It was dry, crumbly, and would probably have been better food for the pigeons. The latkes were awesome, perfect in every way and certainly good. Who doesn’t live fried potatoes after all? The delicatessen as the name would imply is a big wood board of all the traditional deli meats that you would see. Sounds awesome right? Well, the problem with the meats was the fact they were all incredibly dry with the exception of the pastrami. For something that was nearly $ 30, I think I would have been happier heading over to Katz’s and getting their pastrami sandwich rather than being disappointed with how dry their meats were. Other than the latkes, I can’t say I was particularly impressed with their food. The service was great and all, but since I don’t have to keep kosher, I have more dining options. I’d have to say pass on this restaurant in the future for me.

Been here 3 times(so not just a «one bad experience, blowing off some steam» negative review). Each time was probably the worst service I’ve had in NYC. 0 attention from waitress, drink orders took 20+ minutes, food messed up when it finally came. Two of the 3 times they ran out of coffee mugs… in the middle of brunch… and served coffee in cheap paper cups. Not trying to be a snob but how does that happen? Food isn’t even close to special enough to warrant the horrible service. Can get better typical Jewish fare at your local deli. Kutshers, take note of the dozens of negative reviews you are getting and improve your service!

I love the concept of a trendy Jewish restaurant. While the food and ambiance were good, the service was atrocious. I came here with a Gilt City voucher for«Jewish Guilt» which was a three-course brunch for 2 with a punch bowl of gazpacho Bloody Mary and Tri-color braided challah to-go. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately. The waitress explained the deal to us and informed us of some changes to the menu, which was fine. We received our bowl of gazpacho bloody mary in a huge mason jar. Pouring it into our cups was not easy, it would have been nice if the waiter had served at least the first pour. 10 minute wait. We then got our potato pancakes which were delicious. Super crispy on the outside. The sour cream and applesauce were great dipping sauces. 20 minute wait. Then we finally got our entrees-bagel, cream cheese, lox and white fish spread, eggs, etc. This was all great as well. 20 minute wait. Dessert-a fun rainbow cake ice cream sandwich. Yes, please. Another 10 minute wait. Then we received our challah to go as promised. I wanted to ask the waitress to cut it in ½ for us, since we don’t live together. But I didn’t want to wait another 20 minutes for that. 20 minute wait for the check. 20% gratuity included on the original pre-discounted price. Ridiculous. I have no problem leaving a good tip for decent service, but I would have not left anything in this case. The service was horrendous. The waitress did not once come over to see how our meal was. We could not get her attention in between courses. Waiting 20 minutes in between courses and having about a 2 hour meal for brunch is unnecessary. It’s such a shame that a restaurant with so much potential has such poor customer service.

When the two of us walked in at 12:15 and noticed no other customers we figured we were in trouble. For starters we shared the«pigs in the blanket». The 5 little pigs($ 9-yikes) were dry and tasteless. Money thrown away… I then had something called the«Savage Burger» which wasn’t bad. With an unmovable onion ring(with cole slaw filling) on top of the burger. It wasn’t one of the better burgers around($ 21 — Yikes 2) but it may have been the strangest. Had to eat fast as the bottom bun was quickly giving way to the burger juice. My friend had the soup & ½ Pastrami sandwich. While the soup was passable he took one bite of the sandwich and declared it «horrible» — the worst he’s ever had. The sandwich was never touched again… Service was polite but unaware. Water glasses weren’t filled, etc. Chairs /seating discomfort. These things matter. We left at 1:10 — two other tables were occupied. It’s only a matter of time…

Oy gevalt! The pastrami smoked salmon was addictive, the matzoh ball had perfect texture and the setting brought me back to years of summer camp in upstate New York(whether that’s good or bad I’m still trying to decide). I’d skip the appetizers personally, but my friends seemed to really like them so try it for yourself. The space is cute and the servers were very attentive. A+ for the art work. All in all, I’d check it out. A solid 3.5

The Catskills’ Triumphant Return! Their matzoh ball soup is a cureall for any disease. J/K. But it’s damn close. Best pastrami in NYC, perhaps second only to Katz’s Deli. Brisket to die for and incredible twist on the 21st century latke. A must-go experience for a foodie. I was a former camper of Kutchers Camp Anawana so the memorabilia, tastes and eponymous specialty cocktails truly wax nostalgic

Thanksgivukkah won’t happen again for another 70,000 years or so. Luckily, that means they won’t be serving the special Thanksgivukkah menu any time soon. This place is such a shame. I came for lunch a little after they opened around two years ago and I loved the food. The service was slow, but it was packed and they just opened so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Fast forward to the day after Thanksiving a few years later, and both the food and the service have gone depressingly downhill. I was excited for what I anticipated would be an epic feast for the rare Thanksgivukkah occasion — they had a special menu for $ 65 per person that included shared stuff for the table, starters, entrees, sides and desserts. For that amount of money and the great-sounding menu, I figured we were in for a real treat. When I arrived at 1PM, I was afraid they forgot about us and that the restaurant was closed. Fortunately/unfortunately, that was not the case — the restaurant was just eerily completely empty. Completely. Two other couples came in throughout the course of the meal, but the place remained depressingly void of any human life. In fact, the waitstaff far outnumbered the customers, which made it even more frustrating at how terrible the service was. Several times when we wanted water or something else from the waiter, we stared unfulfilled in the direction of a group of 5 people working here, all standing in a circle looking at their phones and chatting away. We had to get up and walk over to them a couple of times to get any service. Once I got the bill, it shed a bit of light on the laziness — they included a 20% gratuity already(!). That was the last straw to end a truly underwhelming meal. Who charges an automatic gratuity(that high also?) for a party of two? Ridiculous. I’m not even going to bother writing about the food * because 1) it was a one-time menu and more importantly, 2) it was just decent, but far overshadowed by the terrible service. * ok, just a little about the food: the Challah was cold and hard, the Brussels Sprouts cost about $ 1 per sprout, the Sweet Potato Latkes were good, the Roasted Turkey and Brisket came in portions of about 5 slices each for $ 21 each, the other sides were not memorable, and the Sufganiyot were cold and chewy, not good qualities for doughnuts.

Omg! I stumbled upon this place after my morning workout and am now a fan! There was only 1 couple there when I arrived which was perfect as everywhere else was packed for brunch. The hostess seating me immediately and I ordered the French toast, pastrami hash, and tea. I didn’t realized that I ordered too much until my food arrived — see pics. Everything was delicious. ESP the pastrami hash. As soon as I took the first bite I was in heaven. It was seasoned perfectly. 30 minutes after I arrived the place started to fill up. I will def be back!

Our party of 9 went to Kutsher’s to celebrate the New Year last week, and all I can say is: Oye! What a disappointment! We all ordered their $ 85 prix fixe and got slammed with a $ 1360 bil!(that’s $ 151 each) For what? Luke warm matzoh ball soup, a greek salad that you could pluck from under the sneeze glass at any NY deli, and worst of all — and the whole reason we went — a beef brisket that was… meh.(no, really. meh!) When we discussed this with the manager he was like: «Yeah, we’ve had no complaints»(Well maybe that’s because other unhappy customers haven’t returned. The place was, like, ¾’s full… on Rosh Hashanah!) I’m giving Kutsher’s 2 stars because the service was excellent and so, too were the roasted chicken and latkes. But on the grand scale of restaurants that serve great Jewish food in New York, Kutsher’s doesn’t cut it, and it’s prices are a baleydikn !

I ordered Kutsher’s Tribeca for lunch today. We used to order from Katz’s on the Lower East Side, but it’s always a pain with their high minimums($ 80) and delivery charge($ 20). We chose Kutsher’s because they were on Seamless(where we have a corporate account). I ordered the Pastrami Sandwich, Duck Fat Fries and the Sour & New Pickles. As for the Pastrami Sandwich, the quality of the meat was fantastic! Juicy, thick cut slices of pastrami. The meat was on the fattier side, but it was marbleized so it wasn’t like I had to pull out big chunks of fat that were preventing me from otherwise enjoying my meal. The meat had a very smoky aspect to it as well, which gave it a unique and welcome flavor. The only unfortunate thing was the only mustard they gave us for the rye bread as little packets of Gulden’s. I was expecting a fancier mustard: thicker with visible mustard seeds. This was really unfortunate because I felt like otherwise the sandwich was top notch. It was disappointing that they didn’t have a better mustard to top it off. The Duck Fat Fries were great! They had the flavor of the duck fat and they were nice and crispy. They were shoestring fries, very thin pieces. They came with enough for 2 – 3 people, so it was a nice order to split among my coworkers. We also got a box of pickles. It was supposed to be both Sour & New, but they only gave us New pickles. Each Sandwich did come with a sour pickle and a new pickle, so it was very confusing that they wouldn’t give it to us in the pickle box as well. Kutsher’s was pretty good and I will probably order from them again. There were just a couple things that threw off what would have otherwise been an amazing lunch. Hopefully they figure these things out, then they should be a real New York deli contender.

I had a great experience here, first, the place is gorg, clean, nice modern yet simple feel. I had this amazing arugula salad with mango and pecans and feta cheese yum! I had two apps with the salad: the felafel balls and the latkes. Both were fantastic and served so wonderfully. To finish I had coffee and the coconut cream layer cake– I really cant express how delish they both were, yes, good coffee and amazing homemade cake! I would have given them five stars if they had more options for me to eat on the menu, but really it was divine!

I just had to stop here to give Kutsher’s an incredible review amongst the many mixed ones. I went with a friend for a 12:30 brunch/lunch today. We had a reservation and were seated promptly in a corner table. I liked our table’s location because I am NOT a fan of the restaurants that give a party of two about three inches of space along a wall of booths, though I understand why they do this. I did have to ask for bread, though I think it’s because they don’t serve it with lunch, but I can’t be sure. We were served up some soft whole wheat challah with an onion butter. Quite tasty. I then ordered the latkes with apple compote & sour cream as an appetizer. The portion was small but apropos for the $ 6 charge and they were delicious and crispy. My dining partner had the chicken and duck pâté and seemed to enjoy it. I ordered the challah grilled cheese with cheddar, fontina, roasted tomatoes and veal bacon. I opted for the duck schmaltz fries instead of the green salad– let’s go all the way, why don’t we? I’m not a big french fry fan at all but I could see the appeal of these. They remained crispy even when they got cold. The sandwich was delicious, clearly very buttery and heavy, but I don’t think they were trying to conserve calories when they devised this menu. It was served on a cool wooden board with a small cup of coleslaw and pickle. For dessert I ordered the rainbow cookie sundae. This was a solid dessert but I wish it hinged somehow more on the rainbow cookie aspect. The ice cream and cookies were good, but it could’ve used maybe layers of rainbow cookie or some jam? Nevertheless, I gobbled it down! Our waitress was attentive as much as she could be as it seemed like she was legitimately working the entire place. Bravo, Kutsher’s. I’ll be back with my jewish parents.

Hanukkah brunch @Kutshers. We were early, they were a tad late. Great corner table like last time w/full restaurant vista. What no rolls? Zach even my father said, those rolls are the claim to fame of Kutshers. We remember those rolls fondly. Oh well. Good brunch. Ate: KT hash & eggs $ 16 Smoked pastrami salmon over potato knish $ 17 Bagel w/onion butter & chive cream cheese $ 4 Potato latkes $ 6 for two latkes My dads hash, poached eggs & latkes with spicy red pepper salsa was tasty. My knish under the smoked pastrami salmon was cool not hot when served. Latkes are a winner– thick, crunchy super delish. Also, enjoyed the good everything bagel from Orwasher’s Hanukkah goodie bag was cute. Portions are small here for the price and some rolls would be the perfect addition for NOSTALGIA and PRICEPOINT which is high for the amount of food served.

The food was so beyond heavenly(SEEPIX!!!) that I really could care less with the opinions of everyone, and the critiques that the son didnt portray what the original Kutschers was. Yes, my grandparents lavished in the Kutchers of old, but when I grew up in stank of mold when we all had meals there… I am not going into the decorating, the chic, the mod, the fad — I can copy the New Yorkers review here… I say the Food. Was. Ridiculous. Stupid. Good. The chef was a doll, he came out to hang with us, we shared stories, restaurant newsies and the food, again, my god, by god made me cry. So good… Go, eat and taste the food and you will be a very happy foodie.
