The best option for Bangladeshi food in Manhattan. Though it may not hold up to the quality and variety of Neerob and Haat Bazaar, its ease of location makes it a valuable asset to the New York food scene. If only they had bhortas…

Only one word describes this place: LEGIT. I was the only non South Asian in the entire place, and the place was packed to the brim on a Monday night. Some of the taxi drivers had to bring food outside and stand by their cabs. Food: Had a lamb curry rice. Spice level 10 out of 10. They don’t cater to American tastes, it is what it is. Although the rice was mediocre, the lamb curry cannot be compared to anything I’ve ever had, and I love South Asian cuisine. It’s as if it came straight from a Bangladeshi family kitchen… Oh wait, it did. Also they served this red fruit drink from pitchers, not sure what it was but it tasted good and helped with the spice. Décor: Minimal, and I don’t mean in a designed kind of way. It is what it is. Service: Theres not much service, but they were friendly.

I had a curry pea dish among a few other vegetarian entrees. It was fantastic! The guy was very friendly and brought a few more dishes out for me to try for free. It was all good but that curry pea dish was one of the best I have had in my life. A great place!

I just came back to edit my review: HOLYSHIT! THERE’S A PIECEOFMETALINMYFOOD!!! I wish I could attach a photo. It’s like a staple-gun staple that’s been all bent around and mixed in with my rice. ==Original Review== I asked the girl behind the counter, «What do people usually order, because I don’t know what’s a normal order?». Basically, I didn’t know what to order, because I’m not use to ordering food at this type of restaurant. She gave me a nasty look. I said, «I want a bowl of rice with a meat and a vegetable over it». She said some stuff to me that I didn’t understand. She gave me white rice and chicken. Then she asked if I wanted blah blah or blah. I said, «it’s a vegetable?» She said,“yeah”. I said, OK. It was $ 8. That’s a high price compared to Punjab deli, which is comprable in nature to this restaurant. I got home, and my bowl only had rice and three pieces of chicken that aren’t flavorful, and mostly bone and tendon. Where’s my vegetable? I recommend you never go to this restaurant unless you speak Bangladesh, because if you’re a normal NYC white dude looking for a late night meal they’ll just give you crap and charge you $ 8. NOTHANKS!

4.5 stars. New place just opened a couple of months ago. Service was great — guy at the counter was very friendly and helpful Food was fresh — we got the samosas which were excellent and sprinkled with a delicious powdery seasoning. The samosas also came with a raita dipping sauce(and not the typical tamarind? sauce) Their tea is freshly made unlike most of the places in the area. They have a good selection of entrees which were very reasonably priced. Also, the entrees looked well made and were not excessively oily.
