I was out at the TFF and watching the premier of The Search for General Tso, where this spot had a brief blurb in it as being an Indian-​Chinese fusion spot. I figured it was an interesting combination and since everyone else from the screening was probably going to head to the restaurants that played a more prominent role, my friend and I both thought to buck the trend and ended up here.
In a word, it was underwhelming. There were a couple dishes that were okay, like the Mumbai Gobi. Other things like their Generals Chicken was very bland and when you think a fusion of these two types of cuisine, you’d expect bold flavors with lots of heat but got none of that.
Their menu is also very confusing, it’s almost Indian-​Chinese-​American. People aren’t coming here because you’re making superior American-​Chinese food…

Came here for lunch a few weeks ago, I love their lunch special. I had the hot and sour soup for a starter and my entrée was the double fried lamb (can’t remember the exact name on the menu but this was the description). My lamb was delicious!!! I asked for it to be spicy, and yes, it was very spicy but still quite tasty.
We came rather early for lunch so the restaurant wasn’t too full. This meant our servers were quite attentive and I had great service! I was very pleased with my overall experience here and look forward to coming back!

Even though I live in the area, haven’t been here since ~2 years ago. I was surprised to see the upstairs had become a hipster coffee shop. This place was empty on a Wednesday during dinner except for 1 table, though probably because it was pouring outside.
We started off with the dumplings, which were okay. The Mumbai gobi was decent. The Manchurian chicken was good and moderately spicy. After these came out, we sat around for quite a while and waited for our Hakka noodles. We eventually found out the waiter had forgotten to put in the order for them. We shouldn’t have waited for them though, as the hakka noodles were very blah — oily and tasteless.
Overall an okay experience. Annoying that we had to keep asking for water refills though.

My colleague loves this place so we ordered lunch from here today. It’s a bit pricey, but I was very please with the Indo-​Chinese menu they have. I love manchurian so I got the vegetable manchurian and it was really good. It came with white rice and it was just the perfect amount of spicy.
I’ll definitely try this place again and get one of their other vegetarian options. Might be more of a dinner spot because it’s a bit pricey for lunch.

Ordered Chilli Basil Fish, the sauce they use in here seems to be same in most of the dishes …

Coming to Chinese Mirch is like embarking on a new adeventure each time. You would come to a revised menu revised setup and diff servers with a diff serving stule each time. Fine with that till the point that the new setup till the taste n flavor doesnt bomb drastically.
My lunch today is huge disappointment. The green curry chicken need not be on the menu if the only green part of it the green veggies served with it. Absolutley zero flavor of green curry, I am still not able to understand why one wants to have a Thai dish in Indo Chinese cuisine.
Verdict — My next visit will be when the current setup changes and hopefully the taste has gotten better

As much as I hate to give horrible reviews, this place just deserves it. The food is actually really good which is why it got the second star. The trick is whether or not you get it. I placed an order for 15 people on Seamless. They called back 15 min later saying there were completely out of 10 of the 33 items we ordered. We tried to order replacements and they were out of 4 of 6 replacement items. This was at noon, so there is no excuse like they ran out for the day.
After waiting for a little over 2 hours (and I understand it’s a large order and may take longer, but it’s only 5 blocks), the food finally showed up and we were missing nearly ¹⁄₃ of it. I attempted to call the restaurant and they didn’t pick up. In fact, I attempted to call the restaurant 5 times over the course of 30 minutes on 3 different numbers and even left a voicemail and never got a call back. When you order nearly $ 300 worth of food, you would expect some level of service for that.
I have eaten here in the restaurant a few times and the food is always excellent. Just NEVER EVER get delivery from here. You will regret it. This is not the first or second time their delivery experience has been, it is the third. Get delivery at your own risk.

Pretty spicy and hot food. I can’t classify it as Chinese or Indian food, rather somewhere in-​between.
The lingering memory I have of the food is just that the flavor of various spices was pretty strong.

I’m not a big fan of chinese or indian food, and this chinese-​indian food place was sort of taking a risk for me. My best company, also a great connoisseur of food/​drink, highly recommended this place and led me to the place for weekday lunch. Conclusion? Hands down — it beat my expectation.
We started with fried okra and chicken lollipop with a bottle of beer. It was my first time to try okra, and it was sooo good. The fried okra was not overly greasy and was perfectly seasoned with chili powder. Chicken lollipop was also great — much better than typical buffalo wings served at pubs. Also tried Manchow Vegetable Soup before main dishes, and it was good too.
For main, we had Hakka noodles with vege/​egg and Chicken Manchurian Gravy. Both were great, but I really enjoyed manchurain gravy with chicken. The sauce was very tasy, not overly salty or spiced like other americanized chinese dishes. Hakka noodles was a great portion, and it should be enough to share with your friend if you are not feeling eating too much.
I can see some Unilocalers saying the quality of food here today is not great compared to few years ago, but if you are new to this type of cuisine, as I was, then it must be a worth try. Check this place out. It’s a different cuisine from what you have tasted before.

I grew up on a fusion of Chinese and Indian /​Pakistani cuisines. Chinese Mirch delivers on that front in that it effectively combines the flavors of Chinese fare and the food of the Subcontinent. The flavors are not complex; the food is simple and tasty. My favorites are the Szechuan Fried Rice, the Five Spice Duck and the Chicken Tikka Baos (appetizer).

I went thr last wkend. it wasn’t extremely busy … we were greeted in the front and then we went to upstairs and was seated and everyone of us got a menue. after that noone came to our table for more than 15minutes… then we called ythem and ordered pur food. and the waiter didn’t helped us explaining any menue. though I know this type of desi Chinese food snd have been eating my whole life. but they should be able to show some interest in his job… he left without taking our order for drinks!!! Then the food came after a lonngg wait.
we tried thukpass with chicken and lamb ($ 9/​$ 11) — which is a soup with angel hair typo noodles and dumplings/​momos made with ur choice of protein. tasted like some warm water with ginger and dumplings without any tastes. lolzz.
American chop suye.($ 12) with shrimp and vegetables but it didn’t had any vegy other than onions and was really bad…

After that we didn’t wanned to try any desert but they didn’t even asked us if we want anything else or if everything was alright… and most of them had some sort of attitudes… I fo not know why but I can guess!!! Prolly because of my hoodie and sneakers. lolzz… its like some stero typical thoughts of people .lolz but plz look at mark Zuckerberg. he always wrs hoodies… n he is richy rich!!!
Anyways bad place for a good dinner. and the ambience wasn’t good and ther ws no music. n it is really small and food was blunt and expensive compared to other desi places in the Lexington!!!

Yupp, 3 stars is probably a fair assessment of this place. It has so much more potential since indo-​chinese CAN be so, so great.
I came with a group of friends and we ordered a variety of dishes. to be honest, nothing really stuck out. i got the chicken manchurian with gravy and would advise against it. the bhel was also not noteworthy. I didn’t try the other dishes but others seemed content with their food choices.
Overall, i think there are better indo-​chinese options in the city, but if you’re in the area and starving and really craving mediocre indo-​chinese, then come here.

I have to agree with other reviews that the food was just meh and so incredibly disappointing especially after hearing a friend’s recommendation. The fried okra appetizer went by fast, definitely one of their better items. I ordered the Gobi Manchurian which was edible but not worth the trip up to NYC. Think: thick, breaded deep fried cauliflower with an overly sweet glaze.
Others at our table ordered the Coconut Curry Chicken and the Manchurian Lamb. The Manchurian Lamb was a hit (though overly fried like the Gobi Manchurian). However, two of my friends really disliked their curry dish, which is really hard to do if you are as much of a curry lover as many of us. Their drinks (I got the Zen Sangria) are pretty good though despite the mediocre food.
They even ran out of their Chicken Tikka Masala wonton appetizer! Not that I would expect it to be any good after eating the other variety of dishes we ordered, but that must have been a bad sign! Really hope this place improves the food part, since I love their drinks and atmosphere.

Cool concept of Chinese-​Indian fusion but not impressed by the execution. The décor is modern and the ambiance is casual and fun.
The Gobi Manchurian (cauliflower in spices) is delicious! The Hakka noodles were bland, but may be helpful to have around to balance out the rest of the meal if you can’t handle too much spice. Besides the two mentioned above, generally I thought the dishes were a bit too sauced up and overpowering.

Wow — I was really impressed with the food here! Several Indian guys that I’ve dated in the past have told me that the food here is incredible and I’m sorry that it took me years to check it out. A friend and I went with a Groupon and when I called to make a reservation (which is mandatory, according to the Groupon), I was told that there were only reservations before 4:30pm. I don’t typically eat dinner at 4:30pm but I took the reservation time. When we got there (only a few hours after I had made the reservation), only two other tables had customers. When we left the restaurant around 6pm, at least ²⁄₃ of the restaurant was empty, which we found annoying.
The service was decent but then our server just disappeared and someone else took over without announcing they’d be our new server. The food, however, was great. We had a couple apps but the fried okra was definitely my favorite. The cauliflower was also delicious. I don’t recall the name of my dish but I know I got some sort of tofu and vegetable dish, which was quite tasty.

It seemed to be bustling for a Wednesday night, luckily, a friend had a reservation. After getting the menu, there was a general consensus that the menu was rather confusing to read. I didn’t really know where to look… organization of the menu just seemed off. The three of us got to share: vegetable Manchurian balls, vegetable fried rice, fried okra and chilli paneer, ie. from delicious to not so much. The vegetable Manchurian balls were the only memorable dish, it was however more pricey than I would ideally pay for that dish and probably won’t order again. The rest of the dishes were best described as ‘meh’. The taste of oil was quite present in the okra (yes, I know it is fried okra, but I think good fried foods doesn’t have that taste). The sauce of the chilli paneer was way too spicy where I didn’t taste anything than the spice and oil in that dish, the paneer taste was lost.
Further, the service wasn’t great. Our glasses were empty of water for a while, we had to request for refills. An order of soda didn’t come, we had to re-​request for it. An order of rice didn’t come, we had to re-​request for it… but it still didn’t come. It just wasn’t a very welcoming atmosphere.
I came away spending more than I wanted to for the food I got.

I ordered lunch via Seamless and I got the order within the time frame stated so no complaints on that end. I’ve had food from their food truck before (the duck sliders/​bao) and it was AMAZING. So thinking this is the actual restaurant that the truck came from it would be the same quality right? Nope. The duck sliders/​bao were soggy and the carrots they used looked like they were on the verge of death. So disappointed. I also got their hakka noodles which was really just regular lo mein noodles w veggies. If I wanted lo mein noodles, I would have just ordered them from the Chinese take out place! Not impressed at all. Will not be ordering from again.

Meeting up with one of my best friends from Cali and upon his choice for an Indian (Desi) Chinese cuisine, i quickly leaped to my Unilocal app and came upon this locale. After seeing Mixed Reviews, i was skeptical to visit. BOY WAS I WRONG and THIS PLACE IS SUPERIOR TO MOST DESI FUSIONs I’ve tried all over the place. From the moment our party of 4 walked into the restaurant to the time we left, we were treated with the utmost respect, attended to frequently, and treated to some of the best food around…
The restaurant was busy but were fortunate to be able to be seated in less than 3 – 4 minutes on their 2^nd level. The venue is a simple cozy hotspot with ample room to make any evening a pleasant experience for anyone seeking some Desi-​Chinese meal. The perks of Unilocal began as soon as I checked in and realized a check-​in offer for a free appetizer (Szechwan Bhel). The menu simply has too much to offer, hence how can one not be happy. The prices are fair and the portions are more than generous. We decided to try a few dishes and each one was extraordinary. Menu items ordered included:
Appetizers: Sweet Corn Soup with Chicken, Crispy Okra, Szechwan Bhel (Free).
Main Entrees: Crispy Szechuan Lamb, Flaming Fish, American Chop Suey with Chicken, and Mixed Fried Rice, and Fun Chicken Fingers from the kids menu.
Drinks: Masala Coke & the unbelievable Virgin Lychee-​tini.
Oh my God, this is one epic meal, well-​worth the trip from Long Island to the city. The food was simply amazing, flavorful and cooked to near perfection. Flaming Fish was one meal i was intrigued by off the menu’s description and wanted to check out for myself, for which my friends joked why. Even though, in a bit of sweet sauce, the fish was crispy, flaky, perfectly seasoned and not to mention presented to the table surrounded by flames. It was loved by all, well all of the food was loved. The crispy okra was a nice touch to the vegetable that isn’t given a lot of respect. Crispy on the outside, yet soft inside, it really made me appreciate the lady finger in a new way. A SURE MUST-​HAVE are the Masala Coke & the Virgin Lychee-​tini, both unique and definitely out of this world…
Overall, Chinese Mirch went above and beyond to make the evening an amazing experience. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and caring. Their attention to all the details, food presentation as well as to their customer base, this place truly has won me over!!!

This mashup of Chinese and Indian fare is a unique concept and deserves mention. I feel like this place has seen better days, but the quality has slipped somewhat and this shows because it was empty. If you check-​in on Unilocal you get a free Szechuan Bhel appetizer which is crunchy and spicy and uniquely Indian street food. The pepper lamb and the basil chicken were both decent and filled me up. However, the Duck Baos were stale so avoid those.
Also, some of the staff were not too familiar with the menu.
